It’s telling that, for all the times Lucifer mocked and needled Dan on Earth, he never thought Dan deserved Hell. Lucifer really cared for that Douche after all :/

Let me add something else; Before Trixie comes in, Chloe asks Lucifer to do something, and he is shaking his head. The only explanation I can think of is that Chloe wanted Lucifer to pull Dan's soul back into his body. The only reason he wouldn't do that is if he KNEW Dan was in Heaven. But now it's too late.

I managed to resist tearing up after it happened, and after the hospital scene, but after Ella told amenadiel that Dan handed in an application I started tearing up,I was full on by the time we found out dan was in hell. Just as he was fearful about going to hell just a few episodes earlier

I was crying for like a hr..it was very emotional for me Bc Dan was like a funny/Favorite character to me and the fact that he’s in hell is just messed up..I hope in season 6 they will find a way to get him back Bc without Dan the show gonna be very empty for me..

Dan and Amenadiel bromance cop duo is interesting lol but they can't bring back dan without interfering with time. Dan could take Remiel place as an archangel if Amenadiel give him the necklece. And erase the part of Dan dying out of everyone mind except to those close to him.

The whole system of guilt being the deciding factor for whether or not you go to hell is fundamentally unfair, as Lucifer should be aware of after ruling hell for thousands of years. It means that good people who blame themselves for maybe relative minor mistakes go to hell while evil people can commit monstrous acts as long as they don't care or feel that they are justified in what they do.

like amanadiel said, guilt is much more complicated and deep seated, so actually evil people still go to hell cuz guilt is well..not on the outside you could say, one can say they don't feel guilty and go and other can say they do and most likely don't go, its complicated and I think God thought abt that before making humans so that truly evil ones still have that guilt, deeplyyy deeplyyyy there.

Poor Dan. Such a genuinely nice guy who had nothing but bad luck. Not to mention he also got bullied by God, lol. And in the end, he doesn't even end up in Heaven. Like I honestly feel sad for the man. If we believe what Michael said, he's probably in hell. And Dan doesn't deserve to be in Hell. I hope season 6 corrects this.

There's still some part of me, that wonders if Lucifer's father stood in the way of Dan's entry into heaven. That the problem was more than just guilt that Dan harbored, but what do you think?

@@toddschouweiler3623 hmm, sounds plausible, but I don't think God would've been so petty. And tbh, Dan has a LOT of guilt inside him. And on top of all that he also feels extremely guilty because he slept with God's ex, albeit accidentally, haha. But it's just sad. I don't think God should've bullied him in that traumatizing manner. But we'll see what guilt led him into Hell(if he IS in Hell) in season 6. And I'm guessing Lucifer helps him out of it.

@@TheBeautifulDisaster Azrael is the Angel of Death, not of salvation. She would have showed up. But it would have been too traumatic for us on top of everything to see her take Dan to Hell. Plus it would be upsetting for her that that was where he was driving himself, especially given her personality and friendship with Ella.

@Arthur Cliff I think it was over his dirty deeds he made an oath to himself to never commit any dishonorable choices never again, then Lucifer pranks him and he's forced to commit dishonorable choices even if it was for good cause. After something like this being Dan who probably believed he was a better man to find out he still would do what he hates about himself over and over again sorta had to open his eyes about who he is

I think it was guilt over Trixie. He may have guilt that he wasn’t the best father and wouldn’t be there for her later in life, or for her in past/present. Those were my thoughts when I first saw it. I do know what happens in season six. Not a spoiler or spoiling later on, so choosing to leave it at that.

The reason why Dan is in Hell, Lucifer clarified from the beginning, anyone who feels great guilt from their actions alive, are automatically sent to Hell. That's the reason why Lucifer wanted to be God to change the system on who goes to Heaven and wants to save Dan and other good people from Damnation

@@joelmccall6328 No, he’s in Hell. There is no purgatory in this show since the role of purgatory and Hell are sorta shared. My guess based on the doors and how some are chained and some aren’t is the unchained ones are like Purgatory and you can eventually leave to go to Heaven after getting over your guilt like the one guy did. The chained doors are most likely the guys who can never leave and actually get physically tortured like Lucifer mentioned about Hitler.

There is no purgatory in the bible. Purgatory is a little addition the Catholics made long after the fact. It's a way of getting money out of grieving families. If you believe the bible, then you really only have two potential destinations; Heaven or Hell. If you don't, well, oblivion awaits.

Unfortunately Lucifer never lies and the hospital scene with Trixie man... He confirmed it if the emotions of the crew were not good enough... S6 is apparently about Lucifer's reforms and attempts to rescue Dan from Hell so there’s that to look forward to...
