They made a beautiful couple, Lucy so pretty and Desi handsome. Beautiful song too. Nice video. However, if you notice, Desi aged so fast. He was six years younger than Lucy and when they married he looked like a kid [he was only 23], but then he started aging. By the time they divorced, he looked older than her. His hair had even gone gray. I think that the pressure of running Desilu, acting in a hit program and all of the drinking and smoking took its toll on him.
Yes they stayed friends and when Desi was in critical condition she went to see him but he didn’t want her to see him like that do they spoke through the door. They were the great loves of each other’s lives. ❤
After they divorced, they were amicable - speaking on the phone almost weekly - either about their kids or what was going on with the show or Desilu Studio. Lucy saw Desi before he died - they watched I Love Lucy episodes and laughed together. (Lucy said after that she cried all the way home, which was 2 hrs away) Then a few days before Desi died they spoke on the phone and their daughter said it would have been on their 46th wedding Anniversary.
