Shit how sad is that 14 years isnot the end there must be many years left just let it go and fly with the wind Easy to say for one that always tries to do whats right ?? and has never flown with the wind but will one day !!!!!!!!!!
Someone recently asked me who my favourite female artist was, and without giving it any thought the words Lucinda Williams popped out my mouth. Up to that point I hadn't really pondered the issue too much but there was obviously an answer in there waiting to came out. Clips like this just confirm the soundness of my instincts.
This band she had at that time was absolutely impeccable. Lucinda Williams is a songwriter/singer legend, car wheels doesn't have a single weak song on it.
The gentleness of the entire band on this number is so beautiful. The sound just seems to bloom from the silence, like the way sadness sneaks up on you from nowhere.
My favourite female songwriter (dead or alive)...she always seems to find the right word at the tip of her pen. A raw beauty. A gorgeous artist. Goddess. Love her
...beautiful. Name an American singer/songwriter who can string lyrics together better than Lucinda, and put them across with as much heart and soul as she can.
Love her. I listen to Drunken Angel probably three times a week on RU-vid. But "Blue" is up there with it. And "Those Three Days." Oh, wait, I just thought of 20 more. Perfect blend of melody and lyrics.
excellent precise use of words painting vivid picture allied to beautiful melody and voice, leading to sublime performance,, huge talent on display, which was followed up on in later years.
Magical, angelic, hauntingly beautiful, moving me to tears of what true love is and the hurt that a woman can feel for a man she loves but knows he can never give her what she really needs. thank you Lucinda, God bless
Such emotion drips from this song it would seem that Lucinda must be writing about her own life somehow. And she lays it out for us to feel. My, my! This is just good.
Danke!
How have I never heard this song? I've heard (and loved) a lot of Lucinda Williams songs over the years. I guess I have to buy the albums... This is amazing.
Loved her forever. Like Dylan her songs are so real and close to someone (like me) who feels life deeply. If you're shallow, move on. It's real man, it's life.
She's so strong, yet so vulnerable.... a killer combination. That smile at the end sums her up for me. You don't have to live the life to write the songs Lucinda; protect your heart x
Real love is so strong and when it ends it just hurts so much. It's how we are made. It can't be helped and so we just keep on moving one step at a time.
Totally ignored by the Nashville suits (and cowboy hats ), but i'd put her up against any of 'em -- and she'd beat them. Didn't think it was possible but I now put her ahead of Patsy Cline as my favorite.

I love you Lucinda and Jim Lauderdale from Pappy & Harriet's Pioneertown...it was so good to visit you Jim and Dusty wakeman when you played up here last May❤️🎶❤️
I played bass in this video along with this drummer who did the Carwheels project. It was great to play with him. He passed away shortly thereafter. Richard Hombre Price
I wrote a song called "Prodigal Daughter" with Duane Jarvis, who toured with Lucinda and co-wrote "Still I Long for Your Kiss" (such a great song). Sadly, he passed away several years ago as well.
What a quality! for a moment I thought it was 2012 or something. Lucinda Williams such a beautiful lady. I wish she always stayed the same :( .... Beautiful song by the way!.
Makes me proud to be from the Ms. delta (thought I'd never say that!).... Of course it might be G'ville, S.C.., but that wouldn't fit with the gravel roads. I shoulda looked it up before posting...apologies :)
Thanks for the kind words. It is not Fran Breen on this show. We were in the UK on a tv show. Donald Lindley, her original drummer is playing. He also was the drummer on the Carwheels cd.
