My brother passed away suddenly 5 years ago and I went through a hell of a depression that sent me on the deep end drinking myself to sleep and not giving a damn about anything. Almost lost the job I worked my entire life to get. I'm doing much better these days but I still can get down in the dumps from time to time. Missing you Rod.. This song reduces me to tears especially the line: "Can you give me some kind of sign?". Amazing song.

I have loved how Lu writes and sings from her heart and soul for well over 30 years. When travelling on to separate roads after a magical relationship, I always played and thought about this song for quite a few months, let alone years, in the healing process all the while thinking of the other half. This song absolutely destroys me. I left my gf in Escondido, CA because we were literally Bonnie & Clyde and I feared for her 4 children with our escapades. I chose over the road truck driving versus SCal all week long because I was made for 3000 mile runs. But the first email she sent me had this song that she heard out in the valley on an outlaw country station..I had to pull over with tears. We all make choices and yeah, maybe for the better for her kids..but not for us as a couple. There is no right or wrong..but it doesnt nullify the feelings either way. Nicole I still love you. And no I dont have someone to hold me tight.

I'm from a poor part of the world. Growing up I was a bit of an introvert, had trouble asking girls out etc. Anyways my first relationship happened when I was 22. When we first had sex, I still remember the incredible spree of feelings of joy and power and sense of everything being exactly as they should be. Then I had to move abroad for school, and things fell apart. She left me, I failed to find a job in that country, moved back home to an economy and society in depression. Struggled to find a good job, had to switch 3 jobs because they all sucked. And couple of years later, after countless small insignificant affairs I'm planning to marry a beautiful woman I've been dating for a year. Oh yeah - world has gone to complete shit and things aren't looking good for millennials and generation z. Despite the time that passed still I can't help but wonder, is my first love alright? Is she struggling to find comfort in these crazy times? Is she alive? Am I alive?

A couple years ago, actually on this date in 2020, I posted this song for someone who left abruptly but really I was posting this to myself, because at the time, I was completely shattered because of the trauma of somebody abruptly leaving. And I wanted to send a message to myself... Well that was several years ago. Now it's 2024 and I am I don't know if I'm better but I am different. But really in many ways I'm just the same there are parts of my head and my heart and my soul that I have just shut off like putting a board across the room and nailing it shut. I have tried my best to forget about all the memories of that person and those couple of years. But it's not fair, it's not fair to who I was or who I thought she was, or who I thought we were and what it all was. Which apparently was nothing. I had been forced to sign legal papers stating that I made it all up, none of it was real and that I was never married, in a relationship or partnered with anyone. So now aside from the C-PTSD and the trust issues and the understanding that no answer is apparently the answer. I never got to have an exit interview so I'm not really sure what happened at all. Not At All. So am I all right? Yeah sure why not... Thank you Lucinda for the song... In many ways it saved my life at the time. 😎✌️🌹🔥❣️🙏

Lost in a job like this was straight for years until I became unhinged stable toked did coke immersed myself in it completely be in until 11pm racked my head on cases while I was at home woke up super early started drinking but was effective made friends with hostile folks defused situations almost been killed threatened daily but at the end of the damn day I had no one to settle me down.
