Another day another new permission!! #metaldetecting #metaldetectinguk #treasure #treasurehunting #deus2 #treasurehunt #xpdeusii #detecting #metaldetectingscotland #thescottishdetectorist
I just got back from Scotland and had a tour booked with John. Do not hesitate to book a tour with him. The whole trip was great but the day we all spent under his guidance was top of the list! Thanks again John!
No good deed goes unpunished! Your wife finds you a new permission and washes your dirty pants, yet she’s being accused of misplacing your nifty tools ;-). I’m dumbfounded anyone would think any of your detecting videos are staged or fake! Don’t let those detractors get to you. Your channel is fantastic and it’s rise in popularity confirms it. Keep it up and hope to see the “band” together again before too long.
Excellent video and your history of George 1st is to be commended!! 👏👏 Kept us entertained while we waited in A&E 😊 Surely no one would doubt your finds John, detecting isn’t an easy time, has to be worked for and given lots of patience as you well know! Keep them coming 🎉
Don’t listen to those jealous people, your videos are the only ones I watch of metal detecting because of your honesty and your knowledge. Keep up the good work!
No hat and sunscreen! After months of digging frozen ground in freezing gales. Scots must be hardy folk. All of us who love your videos are drawn by your integrity as a detectorist and as a historian.❤
I've been enjoying your solo trips, especially on the last new permission area where you found 38 coins. The latest new permission will probably need to be checked out further. I also enjoyed the "warts-and-all" video. It just shows everyone how rare it is to find such great treasures as the coins etc. Thanks John!
Hi there John, I have watched all of your videos back to back whilst sick here in Australia 🇦🇺 You should have a million subscribers. Your videos are fantastic, respectful and informative. Your finds are ridiculous. I am lucky to get a coin dating back to early 1800’s 😅😊 So I have to watch your videos to get some inspiration, even though I will never find real treasure, I still get excited when I find my little bits 😝 You’re melting there and we’re freezing 🥶 here. Cheers from Australia 🇦🇺
I love your series on youtube ! In 1973 ,aged 17 I passed my driving test and my Gran bought me a car ! So not only did I drive to school.I purchased a metal detector and spent hours searching the coves of Cornwall looking for 'treasure ',however I found your favourites ,aluminium cans, pull rings and spendable coins .I did however find a silver ring ! I have always enjoyed English Social History and recently I have been looking for a 'lost Cornish Chapel and I think I found the rough area that it was situated ,a few fields away from my house .Lo and behold I found a few items of crockery and blue china and 50 years after my metal detecting I found an amazing find ! Doing a visual search of a newly ploughed potato field after some really heavy downpours I found a 1725 halfpenny just lying on the surface ,what luck ! I have got to get myself a metal detector ! PS ,stick spare water, tools etc in the boot of your car ,so it will always be available to help you,Best Wishes ,Steve
24,000 bet you didn’t expect that when you started. Just shows and reflects the hard work and resulting quality of your videos. WELL DONE!!! And thanks for taking us with you.
Ha! I neatly fainted on a 71° day here in Oregon, USA. Thanks for the many chuckles you give us your loyal viewers. Always look forward to seeing your detecting adventures topped off with fascinating history! Thank you!
Stop worrying about the haters and concentrate on those of us who enjoy your videos. It takes away from our experience when you waste time trying to prove a point to those who really don't care in the first place. Great video as always! By the way I live in the high desert of New Mexico and you did give me a chuckle.
A few hours and still some treasure in your pocket. Thank you for sharing John. Don’t worry about your drops…I do it all the time in daily life. Are you sure that horseshoe isn’t off a unicorn?
Congrats on 26k+ subs! That is amazing! Don't let the trolls get you down. They are all over RU-vid unfortunately. I hope you were able to locate your toothbrush etc. 😊
Ignore the haters! Detectorists like myself know you're 100% legit and we appreciate all the work you put into your videos. Since you're a tour guide have you ever thought about organizing a metal detecting tour? Even though I'd have to fly from Seattle I'd be the first one to sign up! ❤
Hi John, congratulations on your more than 26,000 subscribers. I wish I lived in England or Scotland …. I would be out every day😀!🇨🇦 You provide a wonderful history of England and Scotland! Thanks!
@@djmarti7773 it is the same in 🇨🇦! People are suspicious of someone on their property especially when they are digging holes. I mainly stay in parks but was reported to the by-law and police departments twice.
Good morning from San Angelo, Texas. I finally finished watching all your videos, and I enjoyed them all. I am a hobbyist metal detectorist as well, though I don't get out as often as you do. I think that even if you "boldly go where no man has gone before", that you will find a bottle top and pull tab!! Thanks for this newest video, and rest assured that I don't count among those who think your finds are planted or faked. Cheers John, and I look forward to your next finds.
😅 you are right about people laughing about too hot for a Scottish person. Here in California we are trying to enjoy the 90s. It will be in the 100s soon enough😢. I enjoyed your video today. Using the speaker was great to listen to you. Also, the little spoon seemed worn, but if it was a grapefruit spoon they are small and pointy, sometimes with a serrated edge. Just a thought. Time for you to change out of black, maybe green or tan color shirts. ❤ Dava
I can't believe you keep forgetting your brush and plastic tool, lol. I suggest you get a second set for use at home when you clean your finds and use the carabiner and strap and clip your traveling set to your detector when you get home from your adventures. You'll never be without again. Thanks for what you do, all the best to you and yours.
Congratulations on 24k subscribers John. 👏 I'm sure there's more bits to be had given that there was a fort nearby. 70°F can kill a Scottish person, that was funny 😂😂
Yeah, I'm chuckling, Phoenix Metro Area here. It's 101F (38.3C) today, looks like it might cool down to the high 90s(36.6C) for the rest of the week. Lows are in the upper 60s(20C) this week, which will be nice. We'll go into hibernation mode about the middle of June and stay indoors until the middle of September when it cools back down. The locals try to be off the streets by 10:00am, no later than noon and then don't get active again until after dark.
Ah, never mind the haters John, they’ll always be there. Jealous of your succes. Make a word with the first letter of the things you most forget. Toothbrush, pick, water bottle. Topiwabo. Do I have my topiwabo? 😂 Brilliant story on George the first. 👍
I’ll suggest it again. If you would have a bag to keep all your paraphernalia in, and just put it back in the bag at the end of each dig, all you would ever have to remember is your detector and your bag.
My Sister & Brother-In-Law just got back from hiking in Scotland with some family members. Went to Glasgow, Inverness, Aberdeen, Edinburgh and Balmoral Castle, Dundonald and Culross. Wish I could have gone with them. I have ancestors from Ayr Ayrshire. Strong Scot heritage. Thanks again for the history lessons. Oh and the videos are pretty damn good too
Thanks for sharing, love having my nostalgic dose of Scotland with my morning coffee. Interesting finds with the early coin and Russian bag seal. Satisfying history. 😊
26.7 K subscribers.!! That's crazy bro. I'm so pleased for your meteoric rise in subscriber count. Always look forward to these uploads & always hope you find what you deserve. Bless up 👊
Definitely went right over and subscribed to your other channel. Canadian born with most family still in Scotland and Wales. Thinking of another trip next year. Don’t like asking the family to take us around too much so this info will def. Come in handy. I’ve heard that there are some great mudlarking areas in Scotland, would you consider a bespoke tour with a bit of time to include this?
Interesting dig John, in spite of all those bottle tops from farm loons! Amazing diversity of locations you have to choose from…just never know what’s in there 🐴🌟
I've been away from RU-vid for a couple of months so a lot of catching up to do for me but another great video as always John love the history of the roman Catholics and how George 1st became king thanks for sharing 👍
Enjoyed the video and just subsrcibed to your tour channel .Ive always loved history and Scotland scottish on my dads side . One day it would be nice to see it's long way from America but it's nice to always dream
Yahhh for Mrs Mac getting the new permission 🎉 and we won’t talk about the missing equipment in the laundry 😂 thanks for the update on the other guys hope you all can link back up soon all the lead is piling up without sneaky Pete 😉
John, always enjoy your videos and am amazed at your finds. That horse pasture looks like it is worth returning to while you still have the opportunity. Thank you for including the history lessons! I’ve been relic hunting in the US for 15 years and found lots of interesting relics from the American Civil War including belt plates from both sides. I would like to try detecting in Scotland. I did an online search and the only company that I could find that did detecting tours in Scotland stopped a few years ago. Can you recommend anyone? Thank you, Joe
Nice job John!! I like the “all finds” videos, it shows the true effort that goes into it. I figure one good find for every 50 to 100 holes , around here in New England any ways. Cheers
Thanks for the warts and all video, it keeps it real. Still some great stuff though. Congratulations on the subscriber count you deserve it. Ange from down under
I really enjoy your videos. I'm from the U.S. Your bits of history really brings things to life and the timelines associated with them. I like hearing the tones of your detector, makes me root for you and your discovery. Keep up the good work.
Can't win 'em all with the terrific finds 😂😂. What was the name of your other channel? I'm sure you are a terrific tour guide!!! Would love to visit your country❤❤❤
Hello to you from South Africa. Beautiful Scotland, I was there during May/June. Was based in Wormit but travelled all over. Flowers everywhere. All the best to you
Your knowledge of Kings & Queens history of Scotland and Great Britain is just amazing. I wish I could just by undigging the coin being able to tell the same amount of info about dynasty this coin belonged to.
The farthing was a cool find. When I was still alive they had a wren on the reverse, never saw one with Britannia before. Turns out the design was changed in 1937. Every day is a school day, eh?
20°c is a winters day here in Western Australia, and that is cool to me, summer we get to 40°c + regularly, further north where I used to work it gets to 45-50°c, now that is hot. 🤣 Thanks for video.
May I suggest a "go" bag? Put your detectorist gear in it, tote it to your site, use it, then put everything back in the "go" bag before you drive home! Easy peasy lemon squeezy!
I just subscribed a few days ago and am trying to catch up on old videos. Do you have a video where you talk about the rules of metal detecting like the agreements with landowners and what happens if you find something important? I am really interested in how the process works. Thanks
