Since she's heavily underrated, I give my utmost thanks to Mushishi's promotion. Now I'm following her and loved most of the music she composed.

Thanks to Mushishi I found this one of a kind song which is like a nectar for the ears and for the heart. This is one of the few songs where you just wanna shut everything off in life, plug in your headphones and just drift off alone absorbing everything this piece of music offers you.

I was going through a bad break up when I first started watching Mushi Shi and I cried the first time I heard this song. Fast forward 4 years and I’m soo much happier than when I first found this song. I just wanted to remind you that pain is temporary, the only reason you can truly enjoy the highs of life is because you know what it feels like to be low. It will be ok, just trust the process.

The 10 years friend of mine showed me this song 9 years back when life was so colourful for some reason. It hit me so hard for some reason not in a bad way in a nostalgic way. I still love this song. My friend passed away 6 months ago. I wish i could tell him how much i love this song and i would give anything to listen to this one again with him. I hope he is in a better place. I miss him so much.

I rarely cry watching series, but am i the only one who cried or teared during the last scene of Hannah and Adam and the ending of the episode from Girls?

As a young man in my early 20's, I used to wet my eyes listening to this but now in my late 20's I don't feel anything, I hate it, I hate this lack of feeling. This used to be my favourite, I want to feel this song again.

It's 2022 and I still tear up when I listen to this song. My heart hurts for some reason.

OKAY?!

I used to listen to this song with my wife, she was the girl of my dreams, we both had problems and couldn't always get along, I hoped our spark could keep going, but eventually it died out, we had two little kids under 2 years old, and she left, because I wasn't good enough and couldn't show her the love I truly have for her. I can't believe I messed this up. This song was everything to me at one point, always made me think of her, I wish I could have her back. 😔 (This happened a month ago) I won't ever be able to forget her.

About 4 years ago I was really depressed because I was in a really bad relationship and I was so sad and hurt, all the time... And I googled something along the lines of "list of underrated sad songs" 'cause I really just wanted to sit down and cry it out. And I found this beautiful masterpiece on that list. Theory time: The song is from the girl's perspective, after they've broken up, but before this video takes place. It describes a time when they were both blissfully happy. This is what the flashbacks show us. She is reminiscing. She still loves him and wishes they could get back together. The video, however, is from the man's perspective. If I were to guess I'd say he's come back to this place in her memory as she has passed. They never did get back together, and it's clear that he loved her too, wishing the same things she did in the song. The two people that loved each other never got back together and now she is dead and he is dying. This is a tragedy.

Found this song from the anime series "Mushishi 蟲師" 13 yrs ago when I was in middle school. This song used to give me a feeling of tranquility with a bitter taste. And as I have grown up, it reminds me of all the regrets in my past. "If we turn back time, could we learn to live right?"

"Shiver" is referring to that particular feeling similar of butterflies, that essence of comfort and warmth when you're deeply involved with someone else. However, this is no simple romance. Themes of a short-lived affair and heartbreaking nostalgia are brought forth based on the woman's melody and the lonely man strolling along in the video. "And we broke everything that was right, we both enjoyed a good fight." Notions of an affair is evident when she refers to breaking moral values. She was most likely married to another person under certain circumstances but she was willing to put up a "good fight" for the one that she truly loved. "And we stole every moment we had to make the other one feel bad" These nostalgic vintage scenes were these getaways that she had with her lover, these "moments" were the places that they both shared, alone together in romantic bliss. "And I'll shiver like I used to-And I'll leave him just for you" These lines reinforce the woman's desire to leave everything in exchange for experiencing that wonderful feeling of romance. *Halfway through the song, subtle changes in tempo and repetition in the lyrics conclude the outcome of their relationship; "And if we turn back time, Could we learn to live right" Yes, she did experience this passionate romance with the guy but it was short lived and never lasted. By the lines "learn to live right" she and her lover made the mistake of not pulling through with their affair; to pursue their passionate romance. If they could turn back the clock, would they have been able to avoid that mistake and pursue happiness together despite complications and obstacles in their situation? A line from earlier on in the song help support the notion that they could not fulfill this passionate affair: "And we hoped that we could be what we knew, It never turned out to be real" They were both involved in this affair but knew in reality they could not stay together for long. Something was holding them both back; if the reason wasn't because the woman was married then it is most likely due to the possibilities of her already having children in her marriage. The woman is singing from a place of romantic nostalgia and melancholic regret. The old man strolling through these scenes is her lover, the guy she could only spare a few moments of bliss with. He too is heartbroken, through all of his years he still comes by to the places and locations that he shared with her, the woman that he truly loved. Despite their complications in their relationship, she too still sings about and longs for that "shiver", that ecstasy of falling in love. While it might have been years and years after, they still share the wonderful memories and feelings of what it means to be in love. The crux: follow what your heart tells you, or else it will bleed with regret and depressing nostalgia. Well, that's my interpretation anyways lol. Great song, love Lucy's voice.

Dudeeeee, the song itself is so emotional and sad, but the video makes it even more painful. Just imagine that scenario: Getting older and remembering the lovely times you spend with someone special to you, but knowing that this is now part of the past and there's no turning back. Time is so valuable, so precious. I feel thankfulness to the person who mentioned Mushishi early this year in a twitch streaming, I'm glad this beautiful song is now part of my life.

Listening in '23 after hearing this 10 years ago and the song is still beautiful to me but the video really struck me this time. I feel they did a great job of capturing that man's happiness in revisiting their (he and his wife's) old favorite spots but I also still felt a DEEP sadness for the fact that she was no longer there with him. I couldn't help but think he was also very sad for that since his returning to those places clearly shows (to me) he still thinks of her and the time they spent there together. Wow- What a piece!

This entire album is terrific. I especially love Bikes, and the video is pretty funny. She can play a guitar.

It's sweet that even after all these years he still cares for her in his heart. It really is. Because I can totally relate to the idea that true love never dies. But I hope this is only something he does like once a year to remember her. I hope in his advanced age he has a family that brings him great joy and happiness, and that the rest of the year he feels loved. unrequited love is the worst.
