David didn't grow up, he has Complex PTSD, cutting him from his emotions and armouring his outside while the soul is hurt and shrivelling. In the long therm it causes arrested emotional development, part of personality stuck at the age where trauma happened.

@@shorgoth Not quite, Cyberpunk and cyberpsychosis existed before Columbine and the current wave of shootings. It was intended to be an analogy for drug abuse, specifically steriod abuse. But that's an interesting framing and I can see where that comes from. Certainly cyberpsychos don't have to be chrome jocks, the label can apply to those who indulge in a culture of violence.

@@Kidoitimaki mass shootings are older than Columbine though... I seem to remember the first few examples being around the mid 60's tower thingny in Texas if I remember correctly. Ultimately even if the original creator meant it as being about drug abuse, if you dig into it why people do that, using steroids I mean... it ain't about drugs, it's about armoring yourself, bulking up, "becomming a man", a mean one with power... its a symptom, not a root cause. I'm basically just digging a bit deeper but its the same idea.

Kiwi got more screen time probably to tie in with Lucy because in episode 4, Maine mention that it was Kiwi who brought Lucy in to the crew. Plus what’s left of Maine’s crew, Kiwi is like one of the last “senior” members of the crew alive.

@@yeahboyz9314 What I mean by one of the last senior members is that the main crew to me is Maine, Dorio, Pilar and Kiwi. Lucy, Rebecca and Falco seem to me they are use as additional backups if needed. Unlike Rebecca, Falco is quite an enigma where he appears quite rarely before ep7 where the major appearance I can think of is Falco punching out Maine and like you mentioned in ep 4 walking out of Lizzie’s bar hence his role in the crew feeling a little part-time to me.

the worst thing about chrome is that the people who can handle the most are the ones with the most empathy and caring natures, but Night City tears them down until they're nothing but a cyborg on a rampage. it's an incredibly cruel power system, but it hits so much harder because of it

A time skip happened in this episode, probably of half a year since now David took the role of leader with what is left of the crew, and he has been building his reputation ever since, and thanks to that the rest of the crew that got barely any screentime gets to shine

David being able to handle tons of cyberware is really interesting. Do you know what stat in the table top RPG governs your ability to stay sane while chromed as hell? Empathy. Your Empathy governs your sense of humanity and the more cyberware you install, the more you lose your connection to humanity. The way I read it, David can handle so much cyberware because he's a fundamentally good person but as he grows older and life takes its toll and he shoves more and more metal into his body he starts losing that, as we see in episode 4 when he's forced to choose to kill or die and kills for the first time.

Yeah that’s why Lucy was afraid of going into that corpos mind she didn’t want Arasaka to find out it was her. And now she’s covering David’s tracks since they are interested in him as well. Honestly a big message in this show is to BE HONEST WITH YOUR PARTNER lol. If they were both honest with each other they could tackle their problems together AS A TEAM. But…… well

@@yeahboyz9314 When Arasaka rescued Adam the first time they didn't turn him into a full borg, only after the fourth corporation war, where he almost died from being in the nuclear explosion radius, did they turn him into one.

Btw, Kiwi did have screentime, it is just that she almost never talked. And most of the screentime was to show how distant she was from everyone. So you have shots of the gang, doing things and having a good time, and Kiwi was always alone. There were even some mid to close up shots, just to show how she was always distant from the group.

A subject being a focus vs being an ascent is important to note here. There is an absence of screen time in comparison that is jarring because she becomes a focal point so suddenly after the time skip

@@Aliciaxlife Oh yeah, I agree she was never the focus. The little they showed, was to make a point how she was never part of the group. But I realized you picked up on it later on. That she suddenly was more active in the group, because she was crossing them. You are really good at picking all of this things Alicia. I am surprised how good several of your predictions were.

I like the juxtaposition between Lucy & David. Lucy use to chase Arasaka's dream & David is chasing Maines dream. David keeps chasing other people's dreams (mother's Lucy's & Maine's). Takes me back to episode 6 when Tanaka asks David what is it that he wants...and David has no clue. Thanks for the reaction

Well he is special but not special enough to escape the consequences of his actions. But really it’s his environment/life that pushed him to become this person. Never forget that’s one of the main themes of this show and the cyberpunk sub genre as a whole
