Shout outs to Jeff Kerr and Barbara Mccallister (I hope I got your name right B!) Jeff wrote me and email as he always does for suggestions (one of the few) and because I was either sick with Pneumonia or just lazy, I missed it by almost two weeks. Better late than never (I guess)! Then yesterday Barbara tricked me by asking who I thought was the better singer between the two! Dang it!! then I knew I had to get it out!!! All joking aside, this song has meant something to me and many others, at every point in my life. I really thank God for it!!!

Can’t believe it’s almost 60 years since he sang that. I always loved the Righteous Brothers songs, and, leave it to Lucy to sing it in such a way as to give it the respect it deserves. Lucy is absolutely radiant in this video.

I saw the Righteous Brothers do this live. They were so good.I saw them many times She does a great job with this song. She will be huge star, that is my prediction. She and Chinchilla are my two new favorite female singers. She is gorgeous.

Great job! This was spectacular! "UNCHAINED MELODY" is my favorite song. The late Bobby Hatfield did a tremendous job with this song! What can you say about Lucy? I don’t know about you, but Lucy got me with her very first note and she never let go! “UNCHAINED MELODY” is the most beautiful song ever, and this was the best rendition of it that I have ever heard! Awesome! Thank you - I enjoyed this. Listening to the legendary Mr. Hatfield and Lucy Thomas back to back is about 8 minutes of absolute vocal magic! The song is a classic because of Bobby Hatfield - truly one of the most iconic songs ever - A historic masterpiece. I think this was a great tribute/cover by Lucy. Her voice is so exceptional. She slowed the cadence at certain points but certainly sang it in the spirit of the original - so I agree with your base outlook - Different. IMO Lucy's version is/will be considered a masterpiece of this generation. She killed this cover - Flawless and beautiful! Thx!

Huge supporter of Lucy’s, love the song, love both versions and really do enjoy Lucy’s covers where she remains true to the song while respecting the original artists. There is a reason why we love the original and Lucy is able to perfectly combine the old with the new. Hi Jeff. I have been waiting for this .I first heard this song in the film Ghost and it has always been my favourite song and always Bobby Hatfields version was the best Until now that is .I am sorry But Lucy´s has such a beautiful voice and vocal skills are second to none. And this song is now hers .I have heard many versions of this song I have listened Lucy back to back with Bobby´s version and I still say Lucy´s is for me the best If I said it was Bobby´s it would just be purely sentimental reasons. Lucy has released 4 songs from her live concert and they are songs she has sung in the studio also, and they are even better live. Lucy would have crushed this live also. The problem is people can not believe just how good Lucy is I have followed her since she was 13 and even then she had a phenomenal voice. Many reactors are now beginning to realise just how good she is. Take care Jeff.

@@colinhea thanks Colin! On so many levels I agree Lucy certainly makes this her own! But there is something to me about the nostalgia angle. While Lucy kills the song I don’t think I’ll ever get all the memories out of my head from Bobby’s version I believe I heard the song from the 60s But the first time I really heard it was on Police Story from the 70’s The music was used in a scene that still brings tears to my eyes 50 years later But then there’s Lacy…

Bobby is a handsome man, Lucy is an insanely beautiful woman. The two of them have incredible talents. The song was written for a man in jail , singing to his love. Lucy add her ultimativ femininity to the song. We cannot compare. The two are well above all the charts 😉👍🥰♥️

This is very hard decision for me. Bobby did such a wonderful job with this song. Bobby set the standard due to the clarity in his voice. Nobody does clarity better than Lucy. So this song was a natural fit for her. I have heard several versions of this song. I have to say with a heavy heart that Lucy’s cover was better. This song now belongs to her. Please stay safe, healthy, and free.

WHO IS THE WINNER? We are! We get to listen, view, and feel in our hearts and soul two of the top tier vocalists of their generation. They both have range to spare, on key notes, clear diction, charm beauty and charisma that could carry most without the added singing skills. As they say two class acts. I don't care studio, -lip sync on tv we all know these two people have it and bring it. Live or prerecorded this is the cream on the top. Thank you! I've been waiting for this! There are only two versions of this song that matter to me, and you've got both of them. Also, Lucy now has several live performances out from her concert last March, and she sounds as good or better live as she does on the videos.

Great reaction Jeff as always. I have to say in my opinion Lucy sang this in the recording studio "live." The reason is firstly the whole song was done in one take. Secondly not only was her lip sync perfect, but even her breathing matched the sound. I believe this is impossible to achieve all in just one take. 😊👍

There is no question That she sang it in a recording studio. Don´t understand what you are saying You said you think its was all done in one take and then say its impossible to do it all in one take. The truth is we will never know and personally I don´t care its the end result that counts. If Lucy had sung this on Stage live it would have sounded just as good. She may surprise us and sing in her Tokyo concert in Sept.

@@colinhea I've been a avid fan for seven years. Using Lucy's answers to my and others questions over the years. Combined with comments of the labels sound crew and highly rated producer i will give what i've gleaned. Lucy will listen to the backing music to establish the cadence and timing they like. A few warmup tests to see what is right for her. Then one or sometimes two real efforts. Some times something fails or someone makes a error. Then the one that counts. But the crew says it's pro scale and they finish early. Watch the vid smile to see the girls in action. As per the norm today the video is shot after the music is finished. She's all prettied and dressed the part. And yes she actually sings while she is recording the video. We hear what was prerecorded not live. But she requires so little processing they are real close. Her live shows prove that. I'm an old school audiophile. I believe an smp. should be class A military quality. It should have an on off button and a volume knob. Any bass, treble, reverb equalizer, ect just distorts the pure sound. So I prefer her live. Any little imperfection just makes it hers and hers alone. Why would we want her to sound like everyone one else? Record labels make and sell records " well downloads and cds today " Hers is a lot better than most. The owner saw in her a future stage star who performs live unamplified. And then wrote a play and much music for her to headline and the many dollars to get into production soon. Not a wise investment in a 14 year old unless she is truly special. What do you think? Look up her live at fund raiser to see what he saw.

@@user-nw3eq8rf8i Interesting. Jeff did Lucy and Morri Amon doing Never Enough. Lucy was only 15 I think at the time. He has also done Loren's version of both on this show. Now Sydnie did a cover of Loren's Over the Rainbow version on the show. If you watch Sydnie's gold buzzer it was played while she was getting praise for her song. Loren started the song using Israel Hawaian name i can't remember version then switched to the classic Judy Garland. That would be a pair to see. Put in a request, Sydnie needs to be heard on this site. Email jeff with links.. Lucy did a tribute cover of the Eva Cassidy version My personal favorite. Jeff also did a show with it and Israel. You put some big voices into play. Nice taste Look back on this channel you will find close to what you like.Perhaps find something new.
