Lufthansa Boeing 747-8 - spectacular flight over Greenland en route to Los Angeles 

No matter how you look at it...air flight is a miracle.

747....is still the queen of the skies......this aircraft's track record and legacy will never be match up with......

Spectacular view from the greatest passenger plane ever. It will be a sad day when the last 747 disappears from the skies.

I'm contemplating the natural beauty of Greenland to this flight's destination: no comparison. What man has wrought!

Beautiful video no clumsy music, no incorrect edits, no camera jerks, "really made me feel as though i took this flight from Frankfurt to LAX " I think that is the top most accolade you can receive protyreus in the world of virtual aviation.

With such an amazing view, of the world below and those engines - who needs in flight entertainment?

This is proof that we need to preserve our earth’s climate as much as possible.

We need lots of 747-8's.

I couldn't believe how beautiful Greenland and Iceland are from the air. I had the privilege of being on a flight on a ridiculously clear day. We could see probably twice as far as shown in the video. The contrast in color between the deep blue ocean and the white of Greenland was breathtaking. I was amazed by the number of huge icebergs that were freshly calved off the tip of one of the massive glaciers.

Just look how beautiful and calm the Earth is without human pollution, garbage and traffic. The pure untouched snow and ice without a single footprint or tire marks. Love it.

Oh that was a beautiful ride, what a well done vid. Brings back memories of being in roughly the same seat, on one of those magnificent beasts, the majesty of all that power as you take off lifting all that plane, fuel, people, baggage, looking like you are barely moving when you are up high as you look at the beautiful Earth below, the reality of how fast you are moving when you move through spotty clouds, and finally, the marvel of how the plane maneuvers with the engines revving up and down, the banking and positioning to line up with the runway, and the realization of how fast you are really moving as you get a few hundred feet off the ground, and finally the respect and admiration to those who designed, built, pilot,and maintain and guide these beasts down safely. I have nothing but respect and admiration to all of the people involved, from start to finish. Just beautiful.

In my opinion the Boeing 747 is the best passenger plane ever created! I hope the 747 is manufactured forever

Today I recalled flying over Greenland as a child and marveling at the flawless sheets of ice and snow and the endless mountainous vista through the window. I just had to relive that experience :)

Beautiful Boeing 747 first started in 1969 and still flying today!! Some747 flying are 35 years old and yet the A380 are all being scrapped before they even reach 10 years of age!!

Flew LH423 and 754 and their return flights this summer on the -8 and it was a truly amazing experience. I picked seats over the back part of the wing so I could watch the control surfaces as we flew.

I LOVE flying the polar route when going from Europe to the U.S. and home -- it's great and faster!

I remember traveling this route and seeing this incredible sight many years ago. I was so awed that I stared until my eyes started to hurt. I have crossed the Atlantic about 50 times and flight still amazed me. What a planet!!!

I have taken the flight from Frankfurt to Denver on a 747-400, and I remember the scenery being very similar to what you filmed. The vastness, the shear emptiness of the arctic is really something to behold. It makes you feel very small. Every now and then you see a trace of man, but most of the time it's just nothing. Completely untouched. You really are on the edge of the world there. Also I have to say, what an amazing machine the 747 is.

This really shows how there really ARE beautiful and untouched places left in this world, despite all the bad things that are reported every day. I've always wanted to fly over the polar regions. I've been to Alaska and let me tell you it is truly AMAZING but the best way to see it is from the air. Great video! Ill bet being on the 747-8 was nice too! :)

Enjoyed this video and agree with the comments of no unnecessary and annoying music, steady camera and great scenery. Many are saying incorrectly that this is a polar route. Frankfurt to LA crosses broad section of Canada and the lowest portion of Greenland but not coming close to the arctic circle.

Gotta love that scenery. And ya gotta love the glorious Queen of the Skies. The 748 is the most beautiful and elegant of them all. :)

The sound of those genx-2B's is like a 787 dreamliner combined with the older 747. A match made in heaven and it really matches with the characteristics of the 747-8i.
