LuiAFK VS QoL : What is the best Quality of life mod for Terraria? 

i forget if QoL also adds the travelling merchant and bone merchant perma npcs which is one of the best things in luiafk

Actually, at least for me, I found that the Potion Bag's 20 potion limit didn't apply to me for whatever reason. In my world that's got Calamity Infernum, my bag is currently holding twice the limit. So either the limit is unintentionally broken, was removed, but the text still remains, or I managed to figure out a combination of mods that make the limit meaningless.

I've always used LuiAFK mod but I've never tried Quality of Life mod before, I should give it a try! Thanks Brome!

For point 1 diferently from luiafk where potions are crafted into specific items using vanilla potions, qol mod also work with moded potions, and i think we can configure to make the bag hold every potion too, making it also a 1 slot item for every potion, but it still doesnt work as teleportation potions xD

I use both QoL is better but I use luiafk for the items like arena builder hellevator and prison but the thing I like the most about QoL is that you can config a lot of things like faster respawn full hp when respawn, max stack, no tombs so you don't have to download and load the singular mods that do those things

1 thing id like to mention is that the wand of space from QoL mod can place blocks that are already hammered, which makes building rows of platforms that you can fall through immediately much easier

one other thing i like about quality of life is that when you have 30 battler potions, calming potions, a water candle, and a peace candle in your inventory you unlock an enemy spawn rate slider in your buff tracker that goes from 0x to 50x normal spawn rates

The problem I have with both the mods you're talking about here, is that their changes often go beyond QoL to straight up cheating. I like fargo's because it treads the line between a lot better. Being able to merge the potions together into a mega buff or put them in a bag to free up inventory space is an example of exactly that. LuiAFK giving very easy access to infinite liquids in pre-HM is another example, whereas the QoL liquid wand is both neat and fair.

LuiAFK feels too cheaty IMO, QOL are way more gameplay friendly. And if people doesn't like grinding in the game they should just use cheat mod like HERO tbh. Because grinding is part of the game. But LuiAFK works too i guess.

I like how QoL is more minimalistic in terms of items, like the potion and the bullets you need to just have them, and build wands is much less cheaty than the arena builder from luiafk. But in other hand Luiafk's Hellevator is really nice, i've always hated my dynamite holes and this item builds even with torches and walls

I like QoL more because luiaAFK make the game too easy. They literally give you an infinite mana item. QoL feels way more polished and vanilla friendly

imo QoL is more vanilla friendly and LuiAFK is more cheaty

I use Quality of Life, LuiAFK, Fargo's Mutant Mod and pbone's utilities(whenever they are available for the version of the game), all bring good things and none of them are big enough to cause a slowdown of the game when used together, and don't break one another or the game while I play, though I do mostly use Quality of Life more than LuiAFK because I never look at mod-specific crafting recipes in Recipe Browser, and Quality of Life feels more integrated into the game and other mods, making it my choice over the other mods if I had to choose only one of these 4.

While both mods provide their own unique items & mechanics, Quality of Terraria(yeah, it got renamed) has won my heart over because of it's extensive configs, which luiAFK lacks. also, luiafk feels alot more intrusive, while with the right configs QoT can fit right in without influencing the game too much.

Quality of life is better. Having to craft infinite potions with a scrolls crafter feels counterintuitive to the purpose of reducing grinding, it's much better being able to hide buffs from infinite potions naturally. It also conflicts with other mods like alchlite since combinations and infinites from luiafk would stack and lead to you getting the same buffs twice, which breaks balance, while such a problem doesn't happen with quality of life. Quality of life's potion bag actually holds infinite, and so does its banner box. Infinite ammo with 3996 is mostly redundant, so wherever LuiAFK takes the W it's always *very* slight.

my pet peeve of using luiafk is the unlimited torch emits green light when held. It makes it a bit harder to see clearly due to the green coloring of the light. There's also the "light" from luiafk's auto builder. luiafk auto builder items have an option that allows the build to have "lights on". these "lights" cannot be destroyed at all and are also considered something akin to torches which will prevent anything to be placed on them. These "lights" have always disrupted me whenever I'm building something which is very annoying.

fun fact: you can store infinite potions in a potion bag. they changed it(or it was a bug they didn't fix) and forgot to change the description

I use QoL, LuiAFK and Fargo's all in conjunction with each other. They can be tweaked so they don't particularly have huge overlaps with each other, and in my case, there's some items that I just never craft (from LuiAFK mainly) that feel too cheaty.

I think quality of life does potions better since it will work with any potion from any mod, luiafk's specific items for infinite buffs means that you wont be able to get infinite mod buffs unless the mod devs add it themselves. also, the infinite buffs from quality of life work in personal storage places such as the piggy bank, safe, and what not. so the 20 potion limit in the bag is little to nothing

I think the QOL potions are more balanced as they don't pass the potion limit.

I just combined both and wow, it really is a game changer, with various other mods, the building and gameplay is way easier, tho my PC may have opposite ideas lmao

I only use Quality of Life although all the settings are adjusted to add only a few features to the experience whilst LuiAFK the only feature I would use in it is the potion effect encyclopedia which even then Hoho Infinite potions does exactly that but in a less refined form the only issue at this point is Hoho Infinite Potions requires updating.

Fargo's Mutant mod is my go to for quality of life improvements.

The thing with having a cert Asti n amount of consumables alsomworks in luiafk(mostly potions and ammo) which works with modded andmthe amount can be changed in the config

I would give 1 point for the banner box because banner are useless if you don't have the unlimited effect everytime and everywhere yes the effect is small but it stacks and at least they are usefull ihstead being in your storage or trash

use BOTH, they dont conflict most of the times, ive had them for about 5+ playthroughs, about 400-600 hours, and never had a problem mixing them!

Using the wand of brusts/starbursts from qol in tandem with unlimited mana from luiafk makes it far better, so use both, i do.

A thing I haven't seen mentioned is Multiplayer. IMO, Quality of Life beats LuiAFK out of the park when it comes to multiplayer. When it comes to LuiAFK, if you wanted infinite buffs for every player, you'd have to craft the banners for each individual player, and that can get real expensive, and grindy, really fast. However, with Quality of Life, there is this one nice simple config option; "Shared Infinite Buffs". You only need 30 of the potion, and then you have it for everyone, but there's also the fact that I haven't seen mentioned of while you need 5 of a buff station to craft the infinite buff from LuiAFK, you only need 1 of them with QoL instead. "But what if my inventory gets clogged from all the buff stations?" There are the personal inventories (piggy bank, safe, defender's forge), but did you know you can just middle click them while in your inventory to open them instead of needing to place them down like in LuiAFK? That's already an automatic inventory expansion if you have that config turned on; but you don't even need the personal inventories to store buff potions/stations and portable crafting stations. Instead, you can just put down a "Storage Manager", and store all of your buff items and crafting stations in a chest instead! That way all players have access to the benefits of infinite buffs/portable stations (because otherwise having a crafting station in a personal inventory prevents other players from having access) as well as just freeing up personal inventory spaces in general. There's also the config option to prevent other players from editing mod configs when they're not the server host. Whilst LuiAFK might have "prebuilds" such as the platform, and hellevator; there's instead just a wand in QoL, the "Wand of Construction" that allows you to *save blueprints/builds* instead, rendering any prebuilds from LuiAFK null.. because you can just save and place your own! The amount of polish QoL has compared to LuiAFK is just unmatched, and if you're worried about the potion grind..? Just get AlchemistNPC Lite instead and only have the Alchemist, Brewer, and Young Brewer enabled. Sorry for the text wall! EDIT: A note, do NOT use QoL's Storage Manager to *replace* Magic Storage in multiplayer!! Whilst it might be fine for the host, the more chests you link to the storage manager in multiplayer, the longer it takes for other players that aren't the host to load the inventories the storage manager are linked to, to the point where it sometimes froze your *connection* to the server for minutes! Things such as teleporting/everything else is paused until the storage manager finishes loading the chest's inventories, or you leave and rejoin the game. Just use Storage Manger for buffs/crafting stations in multiplayer!

QOL mod allowed me to have unlimited effect on the astral injection in calamity which made me have infinite mana and idk if lui afk does something about modded potions but i feel like this makes QOL potions better

I always use LuiAFK, but the Wands from QoL make me think that I should try to use that mod :)

The limit of potions in QoL does not exist, I always go over the limit but they stay activated anyway.

i use luiafk reborn mostly for hellavator and some of the infinite items you still have to grind for those tho so yuo want that golden fishing rodd your still gunna need to grind to make it unlimited same thing for bullets and stuff the only thing i have not gotten to work tho is the golden stand items that work like star in a bottle the heart lamps and there statues combined into one item i couldnt get those to be placeable D:

quality of life feels a shit ton less cheaty aswell since for the house builder it doesent just apear out of thin air

The only thing I prefer about luiafk is the hellevator builder. I don't know if both mods can be used together or if there are some conflicts, if not I would use both mods.

Man at the same time i love and hate the these qofl mods bc it helps you a lot an you can skip the small things like building a arena farming for potions but at the same time after i reach end game i look back and realise how much of a boss rush i have done.

I'm not gonna lie, I kinda think the first two points in the vid are more for QoL rather than AFK for me, sure you can't craft an item to give you every buff or infinite bullets, but I never use more than 20 buffs anyways, and IDK if AFK has buffs for modded potions, which QoL would work for anyways because it's stack based. And it's not like you need more than one bullet for guns anyhow, just get the 3996 needed

ever since 1.4 tmod luiafk never worked for me the menu for it never opened and the items had zero effect ive been using QoL and i thinks its a lot less cheaty than luiafk but the infinite items were always really nice so i might try to go back and troubleshoot what was happening so i can use both

tbh i use both because i hate grinding but i also hate having to craft unlimited items, and also the instant hell evator from lui afk is pretty nice

I use lui for a bit. I generally like the grind. I only really used Fargo, though, since it has all I need, and I don't wanna grind for infernum bosses. Magic storage will always be the best QoL for me, though.

QOL put status affects above my characters head and i can't figure out how to get rid of it

Personally, I’ve used QoL since 1.4 modding released. While there are things about luiafk I find nice, overwhelmingly it it outweighed by ways to get around grinding, which is one of the things I think is important to the game as a whole. This is also why I really dislike Fargo’s, since it does similar things to grindy sections. Not to mention, with QoL you can carry arena buffs with you like banners + potions. It’s also a lot nicer to be able to see the buffs in the buff slots in QoL. Great video, just wanted to give my opinion.

The best quality of life mod for me is Magic Storage, it's such a powerful mod and I cannot play modded Terraria without it

Neither, because both are rather blatantly and objectively cheat mods. And I’m growing rather tired of people hating playing the game so much that completely invalidating the struggle that comes with it is seen as an improvement to the experience.

The reason I feel LuiAFK is better is because a good few of the features from QoL are just super unnecessary for me while most of LuiAFK's features are almost always used by me. That being said I use both and just choose not to use whichever features that I don't like.

I use both lol Though I'd always pick LuiAFK over QoL because of the encyclopedia and the liquid wand is infinite Only features I use with QoL are the potion bag for modded potions and the Staff of Regrowth replant mechanic And as for other features like building, I don't use them from either. Oh and LuiAFK has ultimate battler so you only have to worry about the drop chance

luiafk used to be good until the new devs ruined it with paper and all the other new changes, making the mod not a good quality of life mod anymore because it became way less convenient
