I disagree, the game doesn't look bad, but it definitely doesn't look as good as the remake of Lugi's Mansion for the 3DS which has more detailed scenes and 3D models.
*A few minor, hard-to-notice Switch changes that won't help you in any way:* *King Boo is slightly bigger.* *Luigi is slightly taller.* *King Boo actually has a laughing animation.* *Prof. Egad is also taller.* *The Gloomy Manor, Old Clockworks and Haunted Towers' outside designs were all remodeled and are probably the most physically changed models in the game so far.* *The dead tree in the intro has a purple tint.* *This information is, as stated above, completely useless.*
A taxa de frames e os efeitos luz, sombra, texturas e resolução são melhores tb…sem contar quantidade d polígonos mais alta e som melhor com mais canais.
I think this game was completely re-programmed and modeled. The original game was frame locked because the Nintendo 3Ds is basically similar technology to the Nintendo 64. For stable frames, everything would have had to be done again a second time.
Biggest difference are facial expressions which seem to have been redone to an extent, specifically Luigi's, you can see his lips are much closer to what he says, it's really easy to see when he goes "nononono" where his moth actually makes the shape. Although I think his eyes look a bit off here, like at 4:52 in the original he looks towards the tv but now his eyes stay centered.
Luigi's eyes look like they just stay in place during the whole cutscene. Also, at 2:48, it genuinely looks like E. Gadd's model was swapped out for his LM3 one just by looking at the cuffs, collar, and buttons on his lab coat.
Those fixed eyes really bug me now that I've noticed them, that's definitely a big animation oversight. Not sure how they managed to pull that off lol.
@@morganwheeler8611 I think it looks more to me like they simply redesigned E. Gadd's model to look more in line with the updated design choices from LM3 rather than a ported model. But I guess we'll have to wait to see more gameplay with E. Gadd in the lab and compare him with this model you're referring to, to tell.
I think the mission system is a bit annoying. LM3 handled it better. Teleporting back to the lab after like an objective was annoying. If it were (somehow) reworked to be one seamless adventure per Mansion(with the _option_ to go back to the lab occasionally) it would flow so so much better and I think people would appreciate the game more
@@brolytriplethreat but just cause its a mission based system doesnt mean its bad. Mario 64, sunshine, galaxy, and 3d world were all mission based and most people agree those are some of nintendos best games.
@@Xile179 Mario 64, the first game of the 3D Mario genre WAS a mission based system. Thus it was expected that the games that followed would also be mission based. Luigi's Mansion Dark Moon changed the entire system that was set by the original.
@@brolytriplethreatI'll never understand this criticism. Both 1 and 3 do this exact same thing but just to a lesser extent. It was done more in 2 because it was made to be played in short bursts on the 3DS.
@@mariotheundyingit's a new one, if you compare the two the LM3 one has more a bit more detail, it's noticeable especially on the gloves and the L on the hat
@@ItHamBoi I agree it appears to be a new model. I think it would contrast too much with the rest of the graphics if they just ported E. Gadd's model from LM3.
@@caltendo7658the mission structure was due to the system it was one. When you’re on your lunch break, just whip it out, complete one mission, then get back to work. That way you were always making progress.
@@D4NesquicksterI mean certain aspects have been remastered like higher poly models for the characters & environments and Luigi’s expressions being redone to fit the higher poly model
Agreed, it's an improvement for sure but the original is one of the better looking 3DS games whereas I'd say the remake is one of the worse looking Switch games
Animations for the eyes and brows look really different because the original game uses animated sprites that are pasted onto his face model. The remaster actually has them as a physical part of the face model now, so they do look different. I don't really think I can call them worse just because they used a different technique.
Everytime I watch this cutscene, I always questioned why Luigi lived separately from Mario. It would've been so cool to see their house from Paper Mario.
Better texture quality, model quality seems to be improved too, frame rate is definitely improved, and some animations look a bit different. Overall, I'm looking forward to replaying this game!
Played the original on the 3ds back then and since I havent play switch for a long while. May wait until Nintendo's next console happens and I'll consider getting this
The graphics in the remaster actually look kinda solid, but we’ll see how the finished game will look! ^^ I also noticed that they actually slightly remastered the streamed audio track for this cutscene to sound a bit better quality (might do the same thing with the rest of the cutscenes too)
I guess if you haven’t played this game yet now is a good time or if you really loved the original and don’t mind revisiting. I’m just hoping this game is a sign we get more 3ds ports in the future.
You know this one might not be as good as the first, but it's definitely still a fun game, also this Remaster looks pretty sharp, definitely looking forward to playing it next month!!!
It was only Dark Moon in the US. Everywhere else just called it 2. I guess they decided to drop the "Dark Moon" title in the US for universal marketing.
They dropped the subtitle in America because it confused people when the game originally released. I only ever got this game in 2013 because my dad thought it was the first one. Bad name. Still loved it to death though.
@noodleman4555 I don't see how the subtitle could make it confusing on release, at least for the majority of people. I see how it could be confusing, now that there is a Luigi's Mansion 3 out. It isn't like people thought that Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask were the same game because they didn't have a number in the title.
@@mustacheman529 Yeah but ocarina of time and majora's mask also didn't have a 10+ year gap between their releases and ocarina of time is a widely recognized smash hit of a game. LM1 was and still is a very niche game for a niche console that a lot of people either didn't play or even knew existed when Dark Moon came out, my Dad is living proof of that. It was confusing for those reasons. The subtitle was a bad choice through and through and Nintendo chose to recognize that this time. The only reason the series got another shot after the failure of LM1 is because Nintendo doesn't treat their franchises the way western game conglomerates do.
@@noodleman4555 I think that if a game has a subtitle, it's pretty obvious that it's part of a series, whether this be for videogames, movies, books, really anything.
1:44 I don't know why, but in the HD version Luigi lost a lot of facial expressions and in the original they look good. And they are using the Luigi's Mansion 3 engine where it was best noticed.
They are still using the same engine Dark Moon uses. The model Luigi is using seems to be a modified version of his Luigi's Mansion 3 model and they perhaps hadn't got to the finishing touches of animating his eyes yet since his eyes in the original version were actually 2D textures that swapped to different frames for different expressions. We still have a month and half to go so I'm sure they'll be fixing things like this as usually around this time or so before launch is when game dev's are finding last minute bugs, touching up some details or adding last minute details, etc.
how many of y'all played Luigis mansion dark moon on 3ds back then I know I have but I do know that not a lot people played they kinda just skipped to the third one can't blame huh....?
so they put LM2 on the 3ds because they always meant for the first one to have been stereoscopic 3d. then they remade the first one on 3ds to make the original dream come tru… but then they go and remake LM2 for switch anyway? it’s the least fav of the three. (my personal second fav tho.)
The people who say this is the least favorite are a vocal minority of LM1 die hards. This and 3 are the best sellers of the series and 2 in particular is very nostalgic for a lot of people my age who didn't grow up with the first one. I still think 1 is a great game but it is not the favorite, it isn't even widely available enough to be.
I still remember when I got this game and played it back in the day on vacation. Was fun. I might he in the minority but I will miss the 3d and the dual screen if I get this game again. Although the 3D effect doesn't work as well on my eyes as I have gotten older
Remember when Luigi’s Mansion 1 remake was announced back in 2018? It came on the 3DS and in 2019, Luigi’s Mansion 3 was released on the Switch? I don’t mind being wrong, but what if we get Luigi’s Mansion 4 announcement at the end of the year? Similar to before?
In opinion Switch: Better models and more neon colors for the ghost 3DS: Better graphics and lighting plus nostalgia I really hope there is a setting that allows you to switch things back to the 3DS for the nostalgia
at least in the intro. the green ghosts seems more vibrant color wise. and everything is def higher resolution and less pixelated. well i got a voucher so i certainly can use it at least. it has been a good 5 years at least since i last played the game, its about time for a replay anyway.
Man, the facial expressions look so much better on the 3DS. Also the animation (probably because of the higher framerate) look less natural on the Switch.
The lighting is better in the 3DS version, see the way light spreads in the house and then around the gate lanterns. I also prefer the ghost transparency effect in the 3ds version where it's more yellow. I wonder if it all got lost in an engine change. I'm not buying it at full price or maybe not at all.
The enhanced textures looks great and even the models with more polygon for the character are very good, but it looks like the enviroment still uses the same low poly models as the 3Ds' ones🤔I onestly would've expected some slightly more refined models aslo for the enviroment. They look great on the 3DS with the resolution it has, but on the switch it kinda looks like carboard cutouts, which is funny, because then we have the remake of Paper Mario The Thousand Year Door, and that game never looked better.
The light of the dark moon chance the possition, kong boo movie when laugh and they erase one weapon of the Ghost trow to E gadd, includes the possition of E gadd when talk to Luigi, the design of Luigi is from Luigi mansión 3, all changed in the nintendo switch
I'm pretty sure that's what a Remaster _is_. A "remake" is supposedly more along the lines of like the Final Fantasy 7 Remake stuff. I know not many people use the terms that way, but to the best of my knowledge that's what the actual distinctions are
It's a remaster because, as far as we're aware, it is adding no new content. Compare this to something like Super Mario RPG, which added boss refights as a post-game bonus.
@@SALTYTOAD00 But the reason why Mario RPG is a remake is because the entire game is made from scratch. Nothing from the original game is used even if it's faithful. It's also what makes Crisis Core on Switch a remaster and not a remake as it uses the original PSP code
