Luigi isn't a coward, he's scared of a lot of things but this is his strength, he is like Link, he is the symbol of courage, he is afraid of these things and still fights against his fear to help his brother and the Mushroom Kingdom. That's the symbol of bravery and that takes a lot.

I was thinking, in paper Mario when you read Luigis dairy, and he said that he enjoyed their careless past. What if that was when the Mario characters, were in their teenage years?! And all the adventures, peach getting kidnapped constantly, etc, after was a transition from teenagers to adults? But Luigi was affected emotionally by the transition, and went into a slight depression?! But, thats just a theory, A GAME THEORY!

Learned more powers? No, luigi learned the THUNDER hand, yes, but mario learned the fire hand. Mario has a hell of a lot more power ups that luigi has never used. Mario has 2 whole paper mario games where all the abilities are exclusive to him. While luigi has luigis mansion, mario has sunshine. He isnt more skilled. While yes he can jump higher, mario jumps farther (may be the other way around) So they are equal in that aspect. Mario simply has more experience

This exemplifies why I love your videos so much. You guys respect all three aspects of character development. the fictional representation, the artist intentions, and fan reception. I like game theory as much as the next obsessed gamer but Matpat takes far to many leaps in judgement when it comes to obvious Nintendo retcons and breaks in continuity. You really have to try and understand the nature of the Mario Brother's relationship before you start calling Mario an unjustified dick and/or sociopath, you can't ignore Luigi's problems just because you feel sorry for him as an outsider. Instead revel in the fact that him and Captain Toad are the Mario characters receiving the most actual character development. Sooner or later Mario is going to question his stagnant relationship with Peach, and when that happens, Luigi will be chilling in his mansion ready to pick his brother up and support him the one thing Mario isn't experienced with, feelings of inadequacy.

See...now this one was fucking great +Treesicle , not to say your others aren't, it's just that it's RARELY stuff we never knew. Even to just the casual consumer who doesn't usually watch videos about the games, movies, etc that they consume. This is the direction you should go, giving odd characterizations to characters we know while going thru the history, to make it seem more interesting than it actually was. Great job on this.

Luigi has been my favourite Nintendo character since the Nintendo SNES days. Always play him when he's playable, and got a Luigi teddy when I was 7 that I still have now at almost 25. I took him everywhere with me - he's been to various European countries. I still bring him on holiday now, it's become my own little tradition.

ShyGuyXXL Well you could say that about any game. Just because they don't say something's canon doesn't mean it isn't. It's not like they come out and say "this game is canon/non-canon to the official timeline" whenever there's a new release.

***** Do you honestly believe that there's even a slight chance that Nintendo will ever acknowledge a god-awful edutainment game that they didn't even make? Yeah sure, next they'll accept Hotel Mario and the CDi Zelda games as canon.
