A previous visit from 2018: • Knoydart 07:07:18
This walk into Barrisdale Bay started from the road end at Kinloch Hourn. The 11km takes approx 2.5-3hrs to get into the bothy/campsite if you are staying the night. We then went on to walk a clockwise loop for Mam Barrisdale for Luinne Bheinn and Meall Buidhe which turned out to be a cracking night.

Great video as usual. No mention of the Barrisdale midges (Mijahideen the real vicious ones) Although the camera showed a few at 9.47mins, think they are still looking for me and my friends. The midges dined on one of our party, while 3 others made a fast escape into the hills on a damp, claggy day, 3 of us found it funny. Keeping off the hills when lightening about, a great lesson to all, to be sensible about safety first.

Hi richdavies, We have experienced the Barrisdale midge on a previous trip... they were horrendous. We spent the majority of the time at a bit of height trying to find any breeze that would keep the buggers on the ground 🤣 Always funny looking back but never at the time 🤣Cheers

What a glorious place Knoydart is. I love the idea of truly remote areas that require a bit of planning and effort to get to. I hope these areas remain this way, as it gives us a glimpse of nature in its unspoiled state. Great stuff as always lads. 👍

Thanks for uploading, Charlie. Magnificent to see. Up there ourselves a few months ago to climb Ladhar Bheinn. Hope you don't mind me asking but when you walk with poles, why the exaggerated arm movement? Does this help you in some way or is it personal preference? 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🏔👍
@charliemccartney7055
@charliemccartney7055 Год назад
Hello, The main reason for the poles are to improve balance but mainly to take some of the load off my knees. I don't think I'd still be walking at the same level without poles, particularly on the downward sections. The technique I use works for me but we are all different. Cheers

Super video gents, thank you. Knoydart is an area I have yet to get into. What superb scenery and clearly not an area to get into difficulty or have a mishap. Weather was good to you first day, but what a shame it turned the following morning when I presume your plan was to do Ladher Bheinn? Considering what the weather was like, sensible not be on the hill. As they say “He who fights and runs away, lives to fight another day”. With regard the bothy, did you just turn up cold or book it?
