This is the exact reason there is no fan base showing up to games for the marlins 5 fire sakes in the 31 years we’ve been an MLB team and it’s always come right after we have some success fans literally asked Bendix and Sherman before the season started at the fanfest if they’d ever be able to buy someone’s jersey and see them on the team for more than 3 years and this is the answer a big fat no
@rayfinkle9369

Let's be real, they need an owner that cares about winning. They went to the playoffs last year... then did nothing in the offseason to make themselves better. What a weak ownership.
@MbyrneSD

What is the GM or president supposed to do? The team is horrible and they have no budget to work with. They’re better off blowing it up as they’ve done before which has led to two World Series (really 1 from a blow up)
@Willy_Gee
@Willy_Gee Месяц назад
@@rayfinkle9369 it’s not about an owner that cares it’s about an owner that actually has enough money to invest in a team Sherman is the poorest owner in all major NA sports leagues he’s poor there’s maybe ten baseball players that will make more than him in their careers if you include sponsorships and their contracts he’s horrible simply for the fact that he can’t afford the marlins and doesn’t want to sell to someone who can afford to run a franchise

The video clip of the guys in the middle of a minor league game being pulled off the field, told they had been traded, and sent packing is epic! One of the guys was a runner on second base. The awkward stroll of two of the players down the right field line as the video broadcast cuts to commercial is epic!

Offensively, this is the one area they needed improvement on and that makes the most sense overall. I was nervous Preller might swing for a Pete Alonso type (not that there is anything wrong with Alonso) but we needed someone who could leadoff and get on-base for this current line-up. Having him for next season as well, even a bigger bonus. Pauley is the likely odd man out, but he's young and definitely looks over-matched atm. He's young though and got some solid experience. They did say today they also got some cash considerations, so am wondering how much that was, but we'll see. They are still sitting under the CBT, but if we took Arraez's contract straight up, we'd be about 4-5 mill under. I agree another starter would make sense, and I have a feeling Preller is not going to wait for the trade deadline. His job is def on the line this year with new MGMT, so he needs this team to hit the playoffs. Overall, as a Padres fan, love what Preller did this year so far. Adding Cease and Arraez is no small thing, and they kept their Top 5 prospects in doing so.

Funny enough, the Padres have actually been one of the best teams offensively in MLB in the 1st inning and in the leadoff spot. He’ll make it even better.
@jerranhamelin3064
@jerranhamelin3064 Месяц назад
@@rhyde 1st inning yes, leadoff spot, no. Bogaerts was sitting in the leadoff spot forever, and he just plain went full Eric Hosmer mode, gave up. Profar will come back down to earth, but happy he has done well in the few games there.

Need to get a SP and move Waldron to long relief/spot start, King to #5. Pauley needs more time time in AAA. What do we do with Solano? Does this make Kim expendable?
@jerranhamelin3064
@jerranhamelin3064 Месяц назад
@@trevenirey2354 Kim's situation is a tough one. If they could move Kim and gain a legit SP due to cap space savings, I believe Preller would do it. I know Arraez is not a grade A defender like Kim, but they have 300 shortstops, they would find a way to work it out. Problem is Kim's value is a little low atm, let him get hot, then trade if you can fill a "need spot". IMO, the "needs" would be a decent SP or an OF. Also, Marlins ate 90% of the Arraez's contract, so the trade overall is a win/win for both sides.
@tonysu8860
@tonysu8860 Месяц назад
The Padres are paying Arraez the League minimum to the exact dollar. It's amusing how Arraez 's contract was calculated in days remaining this year plus the full next year, then paid the difference between that and the league minimum. So, bottom line is that the Padres are paying Arraez like a minor league call up.

Manny Machado still isn't ready to play 3B every day, so they may split time at DH with Luis Arraez. Ha-Seong Kim has played SS, 3B and 2B. Jake Cronenworth has played 1B, SS and 2B. Xander Boagaerts has played 2B and SS. I could see Mike Shildt mixing it up and getting Luis in there. Luis Arraez isn't the greatest fielder, but he is serviceable at 1B or 2B.
