I can 💯 % guarantee he would gladly represent the United States if he could , the US is the only home he knows yet he is not given the opportunity to citizenship so he gladly represents his home country Guatemala Sadly the US is missing out of having Luis represent them 🇺🇸
Why? There have been many athletes that have represented the US after getting citizenship that represented their birth countries as well as the opposite. I am curious what Luis would like to do actually - (Having a hard time putting this in words to say it how I want to - so please whoever is reading this know that this is just an honest question) Does Luis want to be an American citizen - is that basically his dream? Does he just want to be able to continue to rep Guatemala but live here I guess under permanent residency status that still allows him to travel but renew a visa/work permit? Either is OK honestly just dont know and what do other dreamers want - was there ever an end plan for DACA - deferred implies there should be - deferred and then? Shockingly (sarcasm) there does not seem to be a way for any other to happen it was just a way to push off a decision... any way sorry for the ramble - Im a big fan of Luis and love the fact he is getting the chance to do what he loves and thank to Hoka for supporting him and his dreams
"Once he competed for Guatemala, he should not be eligible for citizenship." Why not? The U.S. and Guatemala both allow dual citizenship. So he could retain his Guatemalan citizenship AND represent the U.S., if he does become a U.S. citizen.
Thanks for support him❤️🇬🇹ojala aprendas a hablar español para poder contar tu historia a todos los guatemaltecos, darles esperanza y quien sabe algún día podrías escribir un libro contando tu historia. Hopefully one day you learn to speak spanish language so you can share your story to every guatemalan, give us hope and who knows one day you can write a book sharing your story. From Guatemala thanks to inspire us🫶👏
