And what they’re going to continue to do is switch on Ant-man. He hast to literally guard one of those guys almost every possession at this point that’s why he was so tired last night.
@@Tyra504 yah, he had 3 steals and a block tonight, along with 33 points, and he can save energy having derrick and gaf rebound for him so he can focus more on defense. brilliant
He started to understand how disruptive he can be. He doesn’t have to play the best defense, but if you can get them to change something, that’s when you start winning battles.
@@flyguy7702 There were many plays were he was lazy on defense and I was frustrated but man in the 4th quarter he really turned it around and did it all. Masterclass 4th quarter performance if you ask me.
I remember after OKC won in Game 4, even some local Dallas sports stations were saying that Luka was getting rattled and losing his composure, that Dort was in his head. I called and waited 2 hours on the phone to get on and tell them that they were MORONS. This kid has been mentally tough, and absolutely CLUTCH, since LONG before he was even IN the NBA. YES, both his knees are banged up, YES he is not getting even a foul call, when he is getting HARD FOULED. YES, he complains to the refs too much, especially when the Refs got it WRONG(and there has been plenty of that in these playoffs). BUT DON'T YOU EVER TELL ME LUKA GOT RATTLED. No, NO. *_NO_* *_This guy just doesn't EVER take his Game Face off. He does NOT get rattled_*
Man, downplaying and ignoring Luka's massive experience in Spain and Euroleague is just an example of American arrogance. I watched him play in those years: I'm not surprised at all about his current performance.
@@anotherguy5780we’ll the Mavs perceived that as a challenge. Bugger should’ve known better. Especusince he’s getting carried by Mcdaniels and KAT in the last few games.
Minnesota fans really was gassed up thinking Jaden McDaniels could guard Luka. Notice he didn't even call for a switch? He wanted this matchup and eats it for breakfast and lunch
Wolves have 2 problems that nuggets also exploited but they had to do it perfectly as they lack of back up big. Wolves, 1) are not good offensive team, they rely only in 3pts, paint and but heavily FT scoring. 2) they maybe a tough defensive team but when their paint get attack a lot they loses the game. Proven in nuggets series 2023 and 2024 If mavs keep attacking the paint like they did here they gonna get this series. With both kyrie and luka likes to attack paint and makes a play for their C's and Forward inside the paint. They will be able to execute that well.
@@kaydenjaramillo723he never said he'd lock down lmao, y'all twisting his words, he said his match up is kyrie gonna be fun, let's see what he can do,
@@CJ-zl1go lol exactly and Luka overcame that so the wolves think they got this but really their man defense on Luka is a step down from the first 2 rounds
This dude is money every time. Damn no wonder we couldnt beat him in the regular season, glad we didnt have to face him in playoffs or he would embarass us every time
For sure, I saw flashes in his rookie season then every season since the guy has added something to his game. He's no doubt generational but on top of that he has the killer instinct (not all generational talents have it.)
Luka made a huge jump after the first playoff series against the Clippers. Kawhi taking him to school with those mid-range fadeaways showed Luka how devastating hitting that shot can be. Especially when you shoot around 70 to 75 percent.
I like how Luka waved off the screen and said let the All Nba First Team Player cook the second (Arguably First Team ) Defensive Player. And made it look easy too
Luka, for some reason, has to make a finals to earn half of the respect he deserves from the league and media. Then theres Ant and SGA, great, but very much unproven. Luka had great playoff moments before the age of 25, on lesser teams
true 5 nba first teams for the past 6 years and they still put sga and ant above him. yes he complains alot but if hes locked in and on his game nobdoy is stopping him
Wolves got totally outplayed on defense, Luka played better defense than Ant especially at the end where he got multiple CRUCIAL stops while Ant was gassed after Kyrie cooked him all game. Only reason the game came down to the wire was because Mavs shot a pathetic 24% (it's only above 20% because of Luka's 4th quarter performance) from 3. And no Wolves fans it wasn't cause "Wolves played great defense", most of those three attempts came after you doubled Luka and he passed to an open 3pt shooter only for them to brick it...
bro yah, the mavs know they didnt even play up to their standards. this series is going to be amazing that's fs, I don't see mcdaniels dropping over 20 again, but also ant and kat should get it going, as well as conley and naz.
You can’t let him go one on one when he’s locked in late game, Luka embraces that moment. It’s probably better to double and leave one of the role players open. Great players create lose lose scenarios for the defense where you just hope they miss.
@@nicholaszikos3851 look everyone has their own opinions. i think wemby could be the best player in the nba one day. He should’ve won the DPOY this year… as a ROOKIE. That’s fucking insane. once he knows how to fully utilize his size and body, it’s wraps. he made 7 footers look stupid, made world class defenders look like children. He’s 7’5” and moves like he’s 6’5”
And that is the new proclaimed best perimeter defender in basketball. Him and Ant were BBQ chicken the entire series. They shoulda taken notes from OKC and realized the only way to somewhat contain Luka is to play football against him. Lou Dort’s buff ass was like hell ya. Think about all the elite defenders he’s cooked throughout these playoffs. Kawhi, PG, Lou Dort, Jalen Williams, SGA, Ant, McDaniels. If he cooks Brown and Tatum. It would be one of the greatest individual playoff performances of all time…. F’n Legendary!
