That's what most Americans keep forgetting lol, he was 2x MVP in EU by the age of 16, has been playing against older, bigger, stronger players his whole life, little Ant can't do shit, Luka is bigger, stronger with much more skill and waaay bigger IQ.
@@nenadpopov3601I like Luka but he wasn’t 2x MVP by the age of 16. he won the euroleague and the mvp by the age of 18/19. He also won the eurobasket at the age of 17.
Even if not... McDaniels cant compete with Luka physically in the first place. Dort can. This matchup is way better for Luka, cause he can push McDaniels wherever he wants to without needing 100% strenth.
@@kokibalboa9527me too. He's playing great defense. Ppl forget he guards one of the best scorers in NBA history, if not the best scorer. He used his length a lot, but people forget too that Luka can post up centers
One thing we saw all night is how a playmaking genius like Luka defuses double-teams vs. a less gifted passer like Edwards. Edwards looked for obvious escape valves and could sometimes hit the open-three one pass away. Luka just calmly carved the defense up without issue.
@@dpend he doesn't have any passing skills . ppl nowadays think who can jump highest must be the best player . Passes that Luka does not even Jordan or Kobe could think off , Ant is way out of their league
Too bad LeBron is so far up his own ass that the moment his team would draft Lively, LeBron would trade him for some "name" like Dressbrick or some other "star" only to make them sacrifice for LeBron's stats.
@@VVVY777 lol lol lol lol no he wouldn't y'all need to give bro his props man the only player picking Hebron brain in the nba is LUKA him self. Kyrie studied all he needed from him in Cavs.
Dallas has been the best defense for months now and no one seems to notice. Combine elite defense with two smart, experienced closers who don’t rely on shooting a high percentage from deep in order to be effective, and you’ve got all the pieces in place to win a ring. I mean, what is Dallas’s weakness? The only thing that’s held them back is injuries so far.
LuKy may not "rely" on shooting a high % from deep, but they do. Especially Ky who is both one of the greatest and most underrated shooters of all time.
@@MistaWordz This game is proof that the Mavs don’t rise and fall based on threes. Mavs shot 25% from three with only 6 makes and still won the game. Why? Because of the reasons stated. They played elite defense and Luka systematically walked them down in the fourth with lobs and midrange jumpers. If the team relied on threes then this game would’ve been a blowout. The scariest part is that their elite defense and Luka’s ability to get good looks every possession down the stretch are all repeatable over the course of the playoffs. There’s no gimmick to their success.
@@frederickfairlieesq5316 I don't disagree with that, but it still doesn't change the fact that Luka shot the second most 3s in the league on a good % and Kyrie averaged damn near a 50-40-90 during the season.
Lively sooo impressive, he plays beyond his years in my opinion. Injecting the enthusiasm of youth as well.. Mavs are riding an awesome wave these playoffs
If we take the next game from the wolfs then I promise Kyrie and Luka will do what it takes to not go back to Minnesota. If they could do that and the Boston series goes to 7 games then that will give the Mavs a few more days of rest while they wait for their opponent.
They've had 2 good shooting nights in each of their past 2 series and they always win those. Then they get 2 grind it out rock fight wins. They can win with any style of play. Its wild!
Lead the NBA in Offensive Performance… improved his overall defense… makes everyone around him better… takes his team to the conference finals… and third… THIRD! in MVP voting. What the hell am I missing?!
Horses stomp Kat's and Ant's! Dallas can play as physical as Minnesota, but is also more mobile and athletic. This will be a completely different series for the Wolves. Ant might be able to defend Murray on one leg, but a healthy Kyrie is a completely different animal. Not to mention that McDaniels is just not able to bang with Luka. This matchup is way better for Luka then Dort, who is build like a Linebacker, not like a marathon runner.
@@edgardoMurniaYpu dont watch much.... A healthy Luka at 22 demolished a prime Kawhi and PG13, he average 32 points in 2022 playoff series, Ant is lucky, he has better teammates.
Luka is lightyears better than any player on Minnesota-or any remaining team-and so is Kyrie for that matter. LuKai are the 2 best players left in the playoffs and they're on the same team. Go Mavs!
@@agayactornamedmichaeldougl6289 I agree 100% .I'm an old dude and watched a lot of Basketball from the 80's,and Luka reminds me of a combination of Magic & Bird,he is a unique player,he will learn to keep his emotions in check and lay off the officials, but he's not the only one that complains to refs, LeBron is the worst
I know people WANT to believe in ant. He's got heart, some skill, and his body is playoff ready. But luka and kyrie got something he does NOT or at least not to the same degree. They both have an incredibly high basketball IQ. Luka honing his since he was 14. Kyrie studying the game and working with kobe, developed his in the league so he doesn't rely entirely on instinct and creativity. This is the biggest reason I like the mavs in this series. Who knows who actually wins, but that's my unbiased take. And another thing... ky and luka are proven closers at this point. Most media heads said "its gonna be close but i got wolves in 6 or 7". If people think the series is "going to be close" then the one with the better closers should win correct? That's what I was thinking anyway. So which team scares you more in close game situations? Cause that might be who you should be picking in this series if your not picking with your heart. And if you think its the T wolves cool.
Kyrie's ability to beat Minnesota's pressure was also really important. He had 11 points in transition in the 1st half. That backcourt pressure has been a strength of Minnesota's, but Kyrie made it into a weakness.
Exactly, that full court press won’t work and will be disadvantageous to the Wolves due to Kyrie. Best option for them is to just slow the game down, but then again, this is where Luka thrives.
@@maco5152this is why it’s a bad matchup for the T-Wolves Kyrie reminds me of why guys would never full court press Drose .. not only because he was lightning quick But also because he had great handles Same w/ Kyrie You just can’t full court press those guys otherwise they’ll kill you
And after that directly in the next possession he wanted to hit a contested 3 in lukas face. That’s the difference ant is playing so that people can say oh Luka I am better than Luka, Luka doesn’t need that as everyone knows he is a few levels above him.
Length doesn’t bother Luka. He knows how to play through length. But if you put a bull like Dort on Luka, the physicality makes Luka value getting fouled over hitting shots. And if the refs don’t call fouls, Luka gets distracted and ends up playing against the refs rather than his actual opponent. In my opinion, this is why Luka didn’t play like Luka in the okc series. I wouldn’t be surprised to see Naz Reid used as Luka’s primary defender moving forward.
Wrong. Luka was worst in the Clippers series with 40%FG and 22% 3PT. He was injured and getting better in his last 3 games. You can tell last few games of the regular season that he wasn't himself with those bleeding knees.
@@vn_loc7316 I don’t understand how you could watch the OkC series and not notice how distracted Luka was by constantly chasing fouls and not getting calls. Luka even admitted after the game 5 win that he realized his foul chasing and complaining was hurting the team. Game 5 was his best game in the series precisely because he focused on playing the Thunder rather than the refs. So if you say I’m wrong, you’re saying Luka was wrong. You also have no evidence to support your assertion that it was the injuries that caused his bad play. You’re saying that he was hurting in the beginning of the series but is now no longer in pain. My critique is based on empirical facts and yours is based on speculation. You might be right. I’m not saying you’re definitely wrong because I cannot justify that assertion despite the strength of my argument. Your assertion is based on pure speculation, so I don’t know why anyone would feel obligated to argue against you. Would you like to explain the blood on his knees that keeps popping up? If you’re basing your assertion on the blood being indicative of pain, then you have to explain why the blood indicates pain in the beginning of the playoffs yet wasn’t indicative of pain in games five and six and last night.
@@frederickfairlieesq5316 You telling me Mann from Clippers shut down Luka too? Terrance Mann 6'5 and 215 lbs. Luka 6'7 230lbs. Mann has no strength. Only reason he was bad vs Mann because he was hurt. Go look at Luka stats vs Clippers in previous playoffs, he was killing them. Luka was playing bad last few games of regular season. He was not playing like his normal self after getting hurt.
I wonder if they will put Naz on Luka this next game..... If Jokic was more vocal and had his teammates stepped up we would have been seeing one of the greatest series ever since MJ. This is still an amazing game as the Wolves could have won as well. Let's go Mavs!
The solution to beat the nuggets was let Jokic score as much as he wanted to and focus on the rest of the team. That same plan doesn’t work when Kyrie and Luka can score at will, and Luka can play make at an all time level. I’m not saying the wolves can’t win or anything, but this team is a much worse matchup for them than Denver was
Why does it feel like Dallas had more difficulty vs okc's defense? Minnesota looked really slow today. Did phoenix and denver's slow play style make the wolves defense look much better than it is?
People seem to forget that Luka was giving PRIME Kawhi and PRIME PG the business. This Timberwolves defense isn’t as athletic or versatile as that clippers team with Morris, PG, Pat Bev, Jackson and Kawhi.
People forgets a healthy luka usually POST UP CENTERS. If this luka os healthy and 100% qe can see him post up Kat and Rudy for 40 mins like it's nothing
Wolves should probably put KAT or Naz Reid on Luka just for that size advantage. I think they have the footwork to keep up with him. Then pray that Luka doesn't cook them with step-back 3's all game.
Look, I'm going to pump the brakes a bit on the title coronation just yet. But NGL, i kind of want this really bad, for both Luka AND Kyrie. They both get shat upon by the basketball press, for different reasons: Kyrie bc he thinks for himself & wont be guilted into doing something he strongly believes against (you know what imtalking abt,); Luka gets it bc he's Euro, white, & relatively unathletic. I think they have this shared chip on their shoulders, & they appear to have finally really clicked with one another this yr. I think in part bc Kyrie knows that Luke REALLY wants the MOST success for Kyrie, even if it means Luka steps back. In return, Kyrie, feeling the unconditional love & good vibes he never fully got anywhere else, he is able to relax & let the game come to whichever one if them has an advantage or whichever of them is hot. The 3peat Lakers and Shaq & Kobe had that formula for the first 2 of those, & it made them nearly impossible to deal with. Kobe did his best work vs. Western Conference teams, who were better equipped to at least throw a speed bump in front of Shaq, then Shaq just destroyed the weak Eastern Conf. centers in the Finals. I feel like LD & KI are even less predictable about who will go off in a given game, or quarter. Luka was off all game, Kyrie kept them in it, then Luka destroyed the 4th Q, 5-7 FGs, 3-4 FTs, i think 3 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 block, 2 steals, plus that deflection on the late lob to Gobert... and Kyrie did his job first 3 Qs, scoring 28 & wearing down Ant. But Minn will make adjustments, so we'll see how Dallas handles it. Luke & Jokic are probably, along with LBJ, the best in the game at majing adjustments on the fly, so...
He was -9 ... Mavericks offense is stagnant wen he is on the court and the defense suffers. If wolves shot just a tad bit better from the field and they win by 5+ points. Kyrie is the reason this game was even in reach. In comes luka to shoot every ball in the 4th.
Honestly the Mavs would have lost this game 1 but wolves keep barking as if they already win and calling out Kyrie before the game series start so they had to send a message
Luka doesnt play good defense(minus like 5 plays) but Kyrie is playing insane defense, Ky's defense is whats moving the needle in the playoffs for them
actually i think lively and pj play the best defense, but in this game atleast to me was clear that doncic and kyrie switched loads, kyrie carried first half and doncic carried 2nd
Luka really the puppetmaster controlling his own team and the opposition. Still twolves in 6 luka and kyrie played their best game these playoffs and it was still a close win
