Luka is already in the conversation for one of the top 5 players in the league. I think based on form from this last season, only Curry, Jokic, KD, and Giannis can be considered as definite locks ahead of him. And he's in year 3 of his NBA career. If he keeps this trajectory and stays healthy, which I see as very likely, he can easily eclipse most of the greats. Whether he passes MJ or LeBron is a discussion topic best left to 5-10 years from now, but if anyone's gonna do it, Luka is. He's that kind of a player.

One thing I'm really impressed at about Luka, and something that I feel he is underrated for is his footwork. Only 22 and he has elite level footwork I can only compare to Kobe, Jordan, and Olajuwon. He improved his mid range and incorporated the Jordan turnaround fader this season. I think it's even nastier then Kobe or Jordan because of the amount of space he gets from it and It's not a tough shot taken like how Kobes fadeaway was. Don't even get me started on his up and under moves. This kid is special and he is super talented. He will go down as one of the greats if he stays healthy through his career.

I love Luka on my mavs but as a basketball fan, Luka would of been a perfect draft for the spurs. Pop would mode him like no other, look what he did for Duncan, Manu, Parker and Kwahi.

The truest comment was the one about how he's ONLY in his second year yet feels like he's been around forever. It's true. It feels natural to put him right up there and compare him with people that have been in the league for 10 years. Even though Trae Young also has amazing numbers for example, he doesn't give off that same aura as Luka does. It's odd. Not sure why. Maybe it's the maturity or polish of the game from his long years as a pro in Europe.

I understand what Charles Barkley said about an 18 year old kid becoming an MVP, playing against grown men. But, in my opinion, at the time of his comments, Charles didn’t seem to be taking into consideration that Luka didn’t just appear at 18 and was MVP of the Euroloeague, he started playing professionally at Real Madrid’s first team at 16 years of age, and made it to the Slovenia men’s national team at 17. Therefore, Luka had been playing against grown men since he was 16! The fact that he made an impact right away in the NBA (despite the many initial concerns and comments about his athleticism), only adds to the fact that he was a really talented player at a ver young age.

Luka is one hell of a facilitator but I really dont see the bird comparisons other than maybe there size and their post game. Bird is still a few levels ahead of doncic but luka is so young and has a ton of potential to be an all time great.
