Thank you, you have avoided to add a Rev2 to the Summit I already own :) And for the more fizzy Sound my OB6 sits right next to the Summit. I think they both are currently the perfect match for widest sound range. The Prophet 6 lacks the options, the Rev2 lacks the thickness, but the Filter on the Summit doesnt get thin when the resonance is turned up, it just sounds fat and analog while at the same it has a lot of modern features incl. high end fx onboard. I think with those 2 the analog poly-requirements are pretty much covered.

Hi Luke! Many thanks for your work! I've heard lott of your patches on your channel, and you did an amazing job! Currently, I'm struggling choosing between the Novation Summit and the Prophet 6. If the Summit is very versatile, and has more options, better keyboard, etc, the P6 sound to me a bit better for the punchy bass, and the electric-guitar leads sounds. What is your opinion? P6 is it warmer and "punchy" for these kind of sounds? Thanks a lot man!

Which do you like better overall, Prophet 12 or Summit? How about just the filter comparison on the P12 and Summit?

I've not had much experience with the Prophet 12 but i know the Rev2 very well. Between the Rev2 and Summit i slightly prefer the Summit as i find it a bit warmer and richer. The Rev2 maybe has a bit more fizz at the very top which is also nice. You can't go wrong with either to be honest. They're both awesome synths.

Fantastic sound designs, not only this set! Assuming you had a couple of really beautiful digital HW synths, FM, Wavetable, Virtual Analog, as well as VSTs, and next you add an analog poly synth to complement this set in terms of sounds/sound design, what would you get, the Summit or a REV2, or maybe even a P6 or OB6?

If i had all those kinds of synthesis that you listed i'd probably go for the P6 as i think it would add genuine analog goodness to the mix.

@@lukeneptune3820 what a great sound design! i have a similar question..i own supernova2,roland mks80,alesin ion and some great vsts (diva,repro5,the legend,dune3,uvi synthox and px v8)...i was thinking to buy a new synth and i concluded to summit or prophet 6.Do you find that prophet 6 or summit will give me a different flavour,something more than the synths i already own?i feel that only prophet 6 may be able for this..ami wrong?can mks80 give me prophet 6 rich ,warm organic sound?

@@stergiost.6246 The Prophet 6 would make a great addition to your set up. It sounds different to all your current synths and has that distinct Sequential Prophet sound. The Summit is also an amazing synth with more features than the P6 and a softer more Roland like sound. I'd say that the Summit sounds closer to your MKS-80 than the Prophet 6. But quite honestly you really can't go wrong with either because both the P6 and Summit are amazing synths.

@@lukeneptune3820 thanks for your reply!that s what i also iam thinking!i feel that i can reproduce the sound of the summit with diva and mks80 but not prophet 6 sound..it seems to have a nice organic,warm,fat (especially in the mids-low mids) sound that i don t hear in summit or diva...iam not sure though if i can reproduce this sound in my mks....but you said that it is different than mks so...i ll go this way i guess

Wasn’t the Forever Young sound a Korg Prophecy? Don’t hear those talked about much... [edit] no! Forever young was released before the Prophecy... however Prophecy does the forever young sound better IMHO. Absolutely brilliant sounds in this set!

The original Forever Young Pad was the PPG Wave in 1984 (or maybe Jupiter 8, but i think it sounds more like PPG).

Hi! I'm looking to get a hardware synth and had a few questions about the summit. I am still rather new to synthesis so I would want one that doesn't have too much menu diving. 1) Is it versatile? I know that no one synth can do everything: I'm looking to reproduce Jean Michel Jarre's sounds. 2) How does this stack up against the Rev2 or OB-6, especially concerning my first point? 3) I heard that this synth is essential two in one. But can't the Rev2 layer and split too? I need help understanding the difference. Thank you!

Dunno if this is too late for you, but I just ordered my Summit and have been doing considerable research: 1) It's incredibly versatile, aside from lacking in a major feature which is a sequencer. 2) As far as the Rev2, the main differences between the two are that the Rev2 has a sequencer. The Summit, though, has quite a bit deeper versatility in the features that it does have. I don't know much about the OB-6. I'm not super knowledgeable about synths, but I did consider the Rev2 before settling on the Summit. They do also just have different "vibes", the character of the sounds they make is fundamentally a little different. 3) The Rev2 can layer and split, but the Summit functions essentially as two Peaks running simultaneously. You can have both patches layered or split, or switch between them at will, and all of the functions on the front panel are essentially doubled for each layer. This gives you essentially double the number of patches when you account for the number of single patches (where both engines are used as one) and Multi Patches (where each engine runs a different patch). I *think* this offers more versatility than a simple layer/split, but that's just my sort-of informed opinion.

I should say that the Summit lacking a sequencer is probably a downside for most synth players, but it actually speaks very well to me; I suck at sequencing and therefore I'm just as happy without one!

jdjk7 ad 3) As I understand, Summit and Rev2 have the same layer/split architecture. What you wrote is valid for the Rev2 as well.

Divinital Not really. I got a Hydrasynth on March 6, although ordered 3 months after the Summit, saved 700 € and am highly satisfied with the HS. The Summit, btw, will be available on June 26 the earliest. :/

@Divinital For sure....I am starting to like the Summit a lot. Can't decide between OB-6. Prophet 6, Summit, or a Virus....I know I will want an OB-6 at some point. The Virus is awesome but starting to lean more towards the Summit. Wish a TI3 was on the horizon but I think it'll still be a while.

The Summit strikes me as a little stiff in the oscillator section and overall it doesn't quite have that liveliness of your Rev2 patch demos. I really like the way it sounds but it reminds me more of good digital than analogue. I guess the hybrid nature makes it a little more digital sounding. Does anyone else get that impression. The Rev2 demos have that analogue "it's alive" kind of vibe while this doesn't come across as that. If I had to pick though I'd be hard pressed. I think I like the sound of the Summit a little more than Rev2.

Tough question. I must admit that from all the great soundsets Luke made, this is the only one that does not make we want to instantly buy the respective synth (with the soundset). The Summit has it's own character (which I think is a good thing), but that's definitely not the brassy Prophet-like one, which maybe some of us prefer for these kind of sounds. Summit is more glassy and hifi to me, also more versatile. IMHO Summit can well sound analogue (if programmed to), but others are maybe better at instant-vintage character, if that makes any sense. Anyway, if I keep the Summit I am currently testing, I'll get this soundset 100%, this is just great programming!

wow surprised how weak the Summit sounds compared to the Rev2 with Jump... it sounds nasally and lacks the low end growl. Was there an issue with the recording?

I think this is just its character. May be boost able but in general the prophet is the strongest. depends what some one looks for. thanks for mentioning that. I'm between them both. what to do?

Miłosz Ester I have the Summit and tried getting that grittyness to the sound it is more than capable, this patch just sounds too clean I think.
