Mahmood is so underrated in Italy, because people here can not appreciate new talents, unfortunately many Italians are mentally closed. There are 2 verses in Arabic since his dad is Egypcian.. love him! There's a lot of controversy here in Italy regarding his win, but I think he is the only true competition that we could have sent to Eurovision! Go Alessandro!
@@Markstubation01 well, first and foremost regarding the voting system: however, all the entries knew the rules, so I think it is childish for some entries to complain about not winning. Then, unfortunately we live in a moment in time where our "government of change" has taken strict stance against all that has to do with foreigners: Mahmood is fully Italian, born and raised in Milan, but since his father is Egyptian, he represents what the government seems to be going against (unity, equality etc..), and some narrow minded people mistake him for an immigrant and there has been some controversial comments on social media, especially on him singing two verses in arabic. But again, fortunately these people are the minority. Alessandro has been brave and has been himself, so I'm gonna cheer for him in Tel Aviv, and hope the rest of Europe will cheer for him too!
@@karinseregni221 I agree from a Eurovision standpoint he was the only choice, the others were amazing as well but this is a whole other level. This could do so well, Italy's been deserving that win since 2015, and this might be it👏👏

The money song does not talk about money, but about a father who left his son when he was little, and only occasionally returns to him and asks him for money. He speaks of love for his father and for this difficult relationship. Alessandro has an Egyptian father and an Italian mother. He was born and lives in Milan. Hi Luke, I'm following you only through Eurovision Hub but I couldn't resist commenting your reaction to our italian entry. Mahmood's victory came as big surprise for everyone, but you're right it's a song with a deep meaning behind. It references the actual lost father-son relationship sung from Mahmood's perspective, when he was a younger kid....
Hi MaXX - thank you for taking the time to view I really appreciate it :) It's a revelaton to me how a song with such a deep meaning can be turned into a modern and dancable song. The lyrics compared to the music is a huge juxtaposition but it's a fantastic song!
@@Lukeovision and the reprated word "Sold" which means money in english it doesn't talk about the money in a material way but in the way how the money can destroy a relationship (between his mother and father). And with "Soldi" , Mahmood is referred to his father who abandoned the family in search of money. Hope it's understandable!
The song is so musically interesting. I’m a violist so I love hearing pieces with awesome orchestration. Some parts are very different but it’s all so cohesive, what an awesome song, it’s my current winner and it’ll be my second place if Light On wins Lithuania’s selection. The clapping is a way to grab the televoters attention and it’s memorable. Quite a solid entry. Hopefully the juries will respond to it.

He’s our great hope. And the song is so good: it’s catchy, it’s got good lyrics, he’s got a great voice and he’s a super sweet guy. His win at the Italian song contest has sparked a hot political debate (because fascists are angry that a half-Egyptian singer won), but we really hope that he goes to the ESC and wins. Once you listen to this song, it’s impossible to get it out of your head.

Please be kind to him, he received a lot of backlash in Italy: there are a lot of conspiracy theories that the democratic left wing party made him win to go against our current government which is anti immigration. They said the worst things about him diminishing his incredible talent. He's such a humble sweetheart and he needs as much support as he can get..
In Italy he wasn't really 'understood' if I can say that. Right now in our country we have some immigration issues, and this song, this artist is wrongfully put in between (not that it matters, but he's 100% Italian). I hope that Mahmood can have his revenge on that. He is strong, he has a beautiful voice, and this song is so powerful. Good luck to him.
