Domain: Eukaryota. Kingdom: Plantae. Phylum: Angiospermae. Class: Dicotyledoneae. Order: Myrtales Family: Myrtaceae. Genus: Luma. Species: Luma apiculata. Being in the Myrtaceae Family makes it closely related to the guavas and feijoa as well as Eugenia and Syzygium species.

Come here to Tucson, Arizona (In june or july) after this Covid thing is mitigated. One Event: colossalcave.com/2019/05/04/hasan-bak-saguaro-festival/ We candy them and have them all year. You want new and interesting fruits and vegetation, Mt. Pima Anise, Chiltepin, Hackberries, Saguaro Cactus fruits, all kinds of strange things the Tohono O'odham, Pima, Yavapai, Hopi, Pasqua, Navajo have been cultivating for thousands of years. I have about 2 lbs of saguaro fruit frozen and another 12 gallons of pricklypear and other delicious desert snacks. You can eat the Barrel Cactus fruits too but once is enough. Ha:sañ Bak ({supposed to be an accent under the s but I can't type it} means "The Saguaro Is Ready" in Tohono) happens round june or early july. Other info for stuff mentioned: www.nativeseeds.org/ www.saguaro-juniper.com/i_and_i/treesNshrubs/desert_hackberry/desert_hackberry.html www.localharvest.org/ark/chiltepin-pepper books.google.com/books?id=LYmgxcx_AW8C&pg=PA98&lpg=PA98&dq=%22Mount+pima+anise%22+tea

I have 5 of these trees here in Melbourne, AU. So if you want to come and pay $500/kg for this very exotic fruit, you're welcome ;) The white flesh really tastes like blueberry, which is so surprising, since they're not related. Berries in the video don't look quite ripe - I wait until they darken more. The trees are super easy to grow and don't need any attention. But honestly, real North American blueberries are tastier.
@horsenuts1831

I have a few of these (Myrtus apiculata - also known as Orange Bark Myrtle) growing successfully in England (just outside London at a latitude of 50 deg north). I haven't noticed any frost intolerance, but we don't get severe or long cold periods. They grow very well here and the bees go crazy for the blossom. I occasionally eat the fruit but this year I'm going to infuse some gin with the fruit (in the same way that many people make 'Sloe Gin' by infusing sloe berries into Gin in the fall).
