In all honesty.. looking at the twinmotion recent update.. it almost feels that they are very equal softwares. Basically, the new lumion update doesn't seem to be that big of a deal. Atleast for me.
It's good specially material setup.. But i hope they could make easy transform gizmo like 3 axis in any RT renderer or 3D software.. How come 12th version and still move and rotate.. Etc with single button or shortcut for each!!!
I'm very very disappointed. Still expensive, still needs ultra high performance pc, still doesn't support multi GPU, still doesn't have circular camera path, still doesnt have ray tacing... etc.. it is nearly same as L11 why can i upgrade for tons of money? It looks like Lumion 11.6 not 12
As many people, I am disappointed in this version. Just like the previous one. The texture maps are useful, but that's it. Twinmotion released the beta for 2022 version, and it blows Lumion out of the water. And it's 3 times cheaper. This is just horrible. Good job on the video, but Lumion is sinking fast. They need to update their engine.
don't get me wrong, i love lumion 11.5 B4, but today ,when other company brings out the big gun, what dose lumion12 bring us to win the battle i truely cant see it
@@ericliao2167 This is not enough to justify such a steep price. Their engine is outdated, and they think they can justify the proce with simple interface changes, and two actual updates. Next year, I'm going for Twinmotion, for sure. They are actually doing something with their software. Lumion is doomed to fail. And I'm very sorry to learn this as well.
I'm user of 10.5 Pro version and last two version are big disappointment. I don't see value there. No real improvement. Those new features are minor improvements not worth new version.
The good thing is the improvements in the part with materials and lights. I see no reason why each new version has a different organization of effects. I'm not really used to the previous one either. As an architect, I think that Lumion is still very useful. Provides fast results in communication with clients. If you are focused only on visualization, there are certainly better solutions. Each program has its advantages and disadvantages. The question is what do you need. In the end, it all comes down to practice and the talent you possess. And constant learning, of course. Speaking of learning, I can recommend Nuno's course to anyone interested in Lumion. There are really a lot of useful exercises and information.
That’s true! Corona can achieve better results, but takes a much longer curve and renders much slower. As with Lumion it’s quite fast to render and easy to learn. There’s always pros and cons to every software. Thank you for the recommendation! 🙌
The problem with twinmotion & D5 is that they require higher GPU specs at least to run specially the ray tracing thing which isn't available for all . That's what lumion is counting on ... Maybe by chance .
Volumetric spot light and material properties are the exciting once. i want to see some cinematic animation focusing on the new features of L12. Thank you Nuno :)
The updates keep getting worse and worse. It is outrageous what Act-3d is asking for money for such an update. 3000 € for a Lumion version! Here is really ripped off. Another update from Twinmotion 2022.2 ... 3 and Lumion is clearly outdated. Still reflection planes and lots of ancient assets. Even the trailer is embarrassing because there are hardly any innovations. I'm so glad I sold my Lumion version and switched to D5 Render. A good and wise decision! Good software for a reasonable price.
Why when I add the rain effect to my interior model I find rain falling inside the room, is there any way to prevent the rain from falling into the room in the interior scenes
lumion 12 pro is no doubt better then previous versions , the software in a way getting more professional ! but really looking forward for the ray tracing technology to be integrated , i know it means re-engineering the whole software , but I think so far good with the new update ! cheers nuno , always a pleasure watching your videos !
I feel they reached the Peak of features ! I hardly notice any major upgrades except small improvements over and over again. version 13+ will really need a major upgrade if Lumion plans to really upgrade and this will be the ray tracing upgrade
ok nothing has changed sionce 11... well... honestly since lumion 9((( still no rtx. still rediculous 10 reflection planes... oh ye decals are cool but cmon it was on twinmotion 3 years ago. volumetric light for different lights??? rly. or u have volumetric feature on whole scene or this feature is weird because volumetric light looks veryt strange when theres no fog or smoke in the scene... imo and there have already been human silhuettes and they faced camere all the time (ye they couldnt been able to be changed by users pic and thats i dont know like another useless feature? XDD so we have volumetric lights decals a very few new materials and changeable banners. Pretty huge for a year of work dont u think??? (for a couple weeks maybe yes lmao) its a bit sad when theres a new version revealed and its totally outdated
Thanks, Nuno it is really really helpful, my question is that bro, my computer got RTX 2060 Super, AMD Razon7 37 8 core with 16 GB, and I am using Lumion 10. Can I use Lumion 12 instead of it with no problem?
Im live in a cave, i thought lumion 12 is the latest since im using the 10 version . I dont see high significance render output from the 10, and the 10 version smoother for my rig :( . I want to try ray tracing . Is it better than d5?
@@NunoSilva3d Yeah it is bound to take hours. This is why game engines came into the market, but now with RTX and real-time raytracing, people are switching back to path tracing engines. I am sure it will be optimized to take lower render times as in Unreal Engine. Sort of a hybrid approach.
Twinmotion with its new version is a lot better and include raytracing which is a game changer, It built on better engine (unreal) and supports vr. But the biggest advantage is its free!!
Hi Allen! 4k textures I recommend using for objects that are close to the camera. Medium-far you will not notice the difference with 2k for example. And right now you can load 4 texture maps separately.
@@NunoSilva3d Super! that would be awesome, i loved your video about it. But the process is so long that make this feature really impractical for smaller projects.
nice updates, but guys at lumion should be worried, this new stuff in twinmotion makes it now on same, or even higher spot than lumion in same departments. not like this kind of things, since they practically copied lumion in skydomes and all that, but reality is, that will be hard er to justified that steep rices of lumion now. they will need to bring something realy extra now, basically they need to do a simplified version of vray or something..
Nice job once again Nuno. I haven't read all of the release notes yet, but are you noticing any performance improvements such as framerate counts on 12 vs previous build? Thanks again.
I notified Lumion of a bug, just an FYI. If you use the "Animated Phasing" effect in video, and add more than 5 phases, you cannot scroll between the "pages".
Use spotlights that have shadow. Area lights don't have shadows and cause that problem. You can still use them, but adjust the falloff and brightness, so it doesn't pass the walls.
@@NunoSilva3d Oh, thank you sir, I understand. I usually use area lights. Maybe that was a mistake. next I will try playing with spotlights. Next time maybe you can make a short video to create a light effect in the room 😄
im not so excited for L12. with competition like D5,chaos Vantage, Twinmotion.. i expected them to get better. Expected a Raytracing engine or atleast a pathtracer renderer if not raytracing. they need a brand new engine. i think they last changed the engine in Lumion 6 or 7. Twinmotion blows this out of the water with the new pathtracer. and connection with UE and the huuge free megascans library.. Also, expected Lumion to give Live sync to 3DS Max atleast this time. but no luck..i just guess its simpler for them to give livesync for CAD programs like revit, sketchup,Formit than polygonal programs.
