It's a bit disappointing that it isn't working with glass, water, and vegetation - that's pretty much found in every scene in lumion. Would rather they held on the update until they had that figured out.

I agree. From my point of view: We got really decent updates with the new raster engine, and now we can render quite good interiors! So I'll be using the raster for exteriors and raytracing for interiors, until they fix those issues.

@@NunoSilva3d yeah that seems optimal! I'm still really excited about this direction. In the project I'm working on now there's a huge pool so I'm going to try do ray tracing and just mask out the water and overlay the raster version. Hopefully that works

It was great to see a render time for the 4k still, 3 minutes seems pretty reasonable for the quality, but an actual animation sequence looks unfeasible for any significant length.

About time. Good step forward but still very behind compared to other arch viz software's. Feels like they're moving in slow motion with every release and new function. Lumion should NOT be one to two years behind in this industry for their ridiculous price tag. Excited to see how they improve this year to try and keep up with competitors.

Any chance you could note some differences as to where they SHOULD be for their price tag? Say.. between lumion and VRAY? I’ve got to say - I’ve got some pretty good work arounds in lumion for creating some stunning photos (if I say so my humble self). I’ve always struggled between that fine line of Realism - Rendering style. I’ve thought about switching to VRAY / Blender but I just can’t find any justification- lumion gets the job done enough for me , but I’m open to suggestions!

Great tips. Actually the glass and 4k workarounds for raytracing are genius! I just wish Lumion would add way more people with better diversity. 3d entourage always seems to be lacking no mater what engine I use.

Lumion 2023 seems Interesting... Still working on the 11.5 version... Would it be apt to upgrade to lumion 2023 now or should i wait till this version has all limitations of ray tracing resolved? Also, I think the new version from now onwards will make it easier for us to make the pedestal lamp light emission more realistic than doing the long process of showing lights and applying materials.. Also sir, how is the lighting quality of ies lights in ray tracing mode?? Will it increase more time for light bounces and sampling? Excited to see more videos on this new version of lumion from you sir...

Bonjour j ai testé ce jour la version 2023, mais je rencontre plusieurs problèmes ; un les ray tracing est limité à 1920x1080 pixels pour le moment, LEs images rendues présentes des motifs y compris dans les ombres (en agrandissant l image, il n'est toujours possible de choisir ses propres dimensions d images, et point important pour les maquettes faites en version 12-5 , certains paramètres des textures ne sont pas conservés, certaines textures ne sont pas non plus récupérées comme le verre + (qui n'existe plus) les textures émissives ne sont pas conservées.... (le paramètre porte un autre nom). merci pour votre vidéo

Hey man. When using PBR Materials, height-Map isnt the same as displacement map or is it? I only got Basecolor, height, metallic, normal and roughness maps from my Kitbash Assets. How'd you deal with Reflectivity and Displacement? Just leave them or play around withoud a map loaded? I feel that Lumion deals really weird with Displacement. Its just scaling the texture instead of bringing forth all the cracks and details. For the Displacement Materials in Lumion also. Maybe I'm just not getting it right though!? Help is much appreciated

Subscription with frequent updates means they are more likely to release unfinished features that they can now easily update later. This could be a good thing (more features, more fixes) or bad (lazy unpolished features created in the mindset that it might get fixed later on)

Sure, it has good points, but also weaker ones. But as with everything, it’s important they are working on getting them fixed. Lumen with Unreal Engine 5 just recently had an update to work well the vegetations for example.

Light now is really accurate. I didn't notice any of those issues now with raytracing.

@@NunoSilva3d well that's some good news then, I've been holding myself back from fully transitioning to Lumion because of that, for me it's really really hard to get good result with full indoor lighting only on Lumion, I find that vray is much much easier to work with on that subject (yes I know this isn't a fair comparison). Kudos to the Lumion team, and you too Nuno!

Raster is quicker. But a full hd with maximum settings takes about 3 minutes.

Have you experienced any issues with displacement maps on the new software? I’ve been having issues with my displacements not working. Not only that but all of my textures are horribly pixelated, this is rendering at 8k

That brick wall is with displacement at 100% and I haven't noticed any issues.

@@NunoSilva3d That's probably right but the pricing is still way out of whack it costs 4 times what D5 pro costs, but isn't 4 times better. Western countries and offices probably don't have issues with that price but here in Eastern Europe 1300 euro isn't a small amount.

Great video that perfectly presents all the important new features. Finally, compare the stark differences with those before and after, they're awesome. For me the new Lumion version will be a huge challenge. I have to get about 300 of my own textures on PBR level. There are many special facade textures from my employer that I have to recreate with the exact color palette. About 30 plaster colors and 10 different wood facade types, each with 13 colors for the facades. For the windows and front doors I have to create 9 different colors for plastic and wood. Fortunately, some colors are in RAL shades. Unfortunately, these special textures are not available from a texture provider. There is a lot of work ahead of me and I have to seek support from a professional. I've always failed with the textures of the Creaton roof tiles, I'll probably need a professional for this one in particular.

I've been waiting for the RT in lumion for 3 years, now that it's here I admit I'm very disappointed, it's an unfinished beta version. Will they have the resources to keep up with the fast pace of D5 and TM...it's doubtful considering the difficulty with L2023 which should have been released last year at the latest. Or maybe now that the hardest part is done, the development will speed up....we'll see but I'm worried.

Raytracing for sure! But I've been running into some issues with reflections when using raytracing. Sometimes it seems like the reflection's are not fully rendering in glass or mirror like surfaces even after editing the texture hope it gets fixed soon!

Lumion need a most better UX. Use effects one by one makes Lumion a slow process with each project. But the Materials and Ray tracing are most important evolve, By the way i think that Lumion have sufficent ressources to make a most better engine, the licence it expensive.

Hey guys! Hope you can help me. I am planning on building a new PC, upgrading from my Ryzen 5 1600 + GTX 1060 6gb system (So old and has served me really well) I am currently using Lumion 11, hopefully upgrading soon too. Is the AMD RX 6800XT 16GB a good choice for Lumion? It's in the recommended cards. I was looking around for reviews but no in-depth information anywhere. or should I stick with NVIDIA and get the RTX 3070TI instead? This is gonna be paired with a Ryzen 7 5800x (no budget for the DDR5 stuff yet) Those two are my choices really. Really would appreciate it if someone could help. Thanks a lot, Lumion fam!

@@NunoSilva3d thank you so much Nuno! I am trying it to a friend who has "pirate" version of lumion but 7800xt doesn't support ray tracing. Also in the official site of Lumion 7800xt is "invisible". Ray tracing can be supported by 6800xt, 6900xt, 7900xt ... but 7800xt just doesn't.

Been using Lumion Since V4, Love it but the new subscription model sucks and frankly this release was rushed. It has unfinished materials and affects, images look over saturated. I feel it was rushed out to compete with other software like Twinmotion and D5 renderer. Twinmotion is now ahead of Lumion in regards to image quality and assets, and this release is an attempt to keep customers from making the switch IMO. Hope they refine it and get the quality up but for now im shifting to Twinmotion, sorry Lumion.
