Just got my G9ii with the $500 Trade in Bonus. I'm a non professional G9 user. The regular price was prohibitive for me to justify. But $1398 was a no-brainer. I, too, have a number of MFT lenses, so that was another bonus, no further lens investment required for now. Its capabilities are beyond my needs, but it's going to be a more reliable and powerful video tool to grow into and learn from without breaking the bank. Your program is very timely and informative. Thankyou. P.S. It's such a calm experience watching your dialogue. Love your personal styles. I would vote you two an award for the nicest hosts on RU-vid.
I traded my GH5 in when I saw the promotion. I had NO intentions of getting a new body but at the $1400 price point plus trade in value on the camera it was a total no brainer for me. Going from the GH5 the camera is heavenly haha.
G9II is definitely too expensive compared to a full-frame S5iiX (brand new), you can even get a full frame S1 (brand new) which is even more professional than the S5IIX, at similar price points - so yes the price is odd to me - I do however think the £500 discount makes this deal more valuable. I may actually pick up on that offer it is given to us here in the UK - The SSD thing has been available on SIGMA fp for years, I use it all the time, and its came to the GH6 and S5iiX, however that is not what would attract me to the G9iiX - What attracts me to it, is the fact that it has the similar colour science to the S5IIX, and of course that beautiful auto-focus.
Hi What I am personally missing in mft is a GH5s sucessor with 5000 iso second base iso (twice of the2500 of the GH5s in vlog L) I shoot a lot of video multicam with telephotos lens anf high ISO...live concert in dark churches with bad light are commun in Europe the S5s does the job but the lens are massive in comparaison to 100-300 or even 100-400...and personally I think most of our videos Netflix shows are too much bluered to cover a shitty background it is tiring zo watch ultimatly...so 1.2 in FF is a no go 2.8 is a good start... I think shallow dept of field is overused...
Completely understand, what’s funny though is that I tend to need lower iso values: filming outside during the day and not wanting to use stronger NDs. So the race for higher isos is always a balance. Maybe LUMIX would be smart to release a GH7 as well as a GH7s at the same time to cater to both styles of shooters.
