Lumos Bike Helmet | Review 

Cool; let me know what you think about it! The cobalt blue is really nice looking. Back in my bike commuting days, though, I would have really wanted the high viz green that's now available.

@@thealamorider3327 Alamo Rider I'm ready to weigh-in 🤗 on my three Lumos Helmets... Firstly, apparently what is available changes often. What I got was Kickstart Lite, Kickstart and a Matrix. Spoiler the original Kickstart won hands-down easily as the best helmet for me even-still in 2021. The Lite is similar to the Kickstart but for $50 more get the original with the turn-signals and remote imo. Those two I'll give 10/10 each they certainly deliver the upmost in safety available which is why a helmet anyways... Now the Matrix, the store I bought it from is the most expensive in-town, they only had one nib but opened-it up to show me it really-was never-ever manhandled. A couple of days later since my other two Lumos helmets were OK I opened-up the Matrix and f### the damned thing won't pair which makes it half useless and even if it would the control button is absolutely unacceptable in any case especially mine where it doesn't work. I only need one try at +$400 Canadian dollars, don't anyone buy one of those at any price, look at the shitty power-on to do everything button compared to newer models, "fail"...

@@BubbafromSapperton Thanks so much for your write up! That bites to hear about what happened with the Matrix model. It seems really cool and, having never seen one in person, I would speculate that it may be significantly brighter than the original Lumos Kickstarter helmet. But, IMHO, Lumos should have stayed with the basics. Their Kickstarter helmet is great; there wasn't really a need to change the formula. It made me more visible to drivers during my rides, so mission accomplished, that's what I bought it for. Anyway, I don't suppose you were able to return the Matrix and get your money back?

@@thealamorider3327 OK now that I'm not so mad a bit more of reviewing, at least for me it's been really hard to choose a helmet. My last one was SO terrible it literally fell-apart from being in the sun and believe me it wasn't cheap and was branded by a prominent bicycle company, I threw it out! Being someone that has spent most of my life without helmets it was going to take something really special and out of the hundreds on the market it's the Lumos Kickstarter, the flicky-lights front&back on the thing are absolutely dazzling, originally I thought the turn-signals on it were dumb but now owning the thing those are a nice touch to have in the dark. Differences between the models I have are Kickstarter Lite 400 lumens, Kickstarter Original 500 lumens, Matrix 1,000 lumens but that one is in the new style as the Ultra where the front light is just permanently on, imo not as safe in the dark amongst cars as the original if that matters. I have money-enough to burn on other helmets but since safety is now my desire I haven't seen anything-else that's better for now...

You'd have to get them directly from Lumos. They have a remote but I couldn't find the individual triggers, where you can put one on the left side and the other on the right, but this one will work too. lumoshelmet.co/collections/accessories/products/remote

Quality of packaging has only gone up. It was very impressive despite the glue failing a bit at two places but that’s acceptable, good company used for the boxes even if they aren’t perfect everytime.

The lights on this helmet fall in to the Be Seen category; they are not bright enough To See. However, if in the dark you have to look in to a pack, or some similar action, the light is bright enough to see what you're getting. Hope that makes sense.

@The Alamo Rider In the end, l got paired together and everything works perfectly now. I have to repeat many times. I wish the helmet had more ventilating channels.

Wow, you really overpaid! The most expensive Lumos helmet I can find on Amazon is $250, and the cheapest is only $120.
