Luna X2 Enduro Ludicrous Controller For Dummies. How to save a profile and change to another. I'm just an average guy who owns a new Luna X2 Enduro. These are my experiences with it. I hope you can relate.
I live in New Jersey and tbh anything over 1000watts you can get hot real fast, especially if doing a lot of road riding or up and down trail riding. So i run Field weakening 3, 1000-1250watts. Fix throttle amps at full power, & PAS between 70-84 PAS response at 0.07 sometimes 0.06. But if i wanted i could dial it down to 250watts easily field weakening at 1, PAS at 100% rpm 100% & get the same power shimano EP8 would give but with more torque. On days i plan on riding 30+miles on trails i have to turn power all the way down and need an extra battery to get past 40miles. That is with EQUAL CLIMBING and decent. The bike is baller but your better off buying the new M560 Bafang engine that uses same platform as the m600 for $600 & dropping it into the Dengfu E10 V2 frame, with any bafang battery that fits the frame. Ludicrous V2 controller when turned up any higher then the first mentioned settings causes it to get to hot to easily and unless your on flat you never actually get to use 2000watts and when you do, it is only for a mile or two before it reaches 90+ degrees centigrade. If ur climbing and not in biggest cog on cassette with max power u will hit redline heat temps within a mile or two. It is cool but i plan to ride my Luna X2 m600 v2 until it dies. I've had to pull over ten miles into my ride to let it cool so many times. I plan to replace the ludicrous m600 v2 with watt wagons M560 motor using an aftermarket controller as well. Lunas bike look sexy. If you could buy the X2 without the motor and drop the new Bafang m560 in it. I'd do that because i rarely ride over 1000watts and with the m560 being a natural 1000watt motor & using same platform you can ride 3 batteries or 90miles and never need to worry about over heating the motor. They didn't use high quality heat sinks in the motor side of the engine. I've enginneered a fix but been hard to find a shop to machine the external heat sink that would fit under the plastic engine cover & around the motor side of the engine. So with that said if u haven't bought an X2 Ludicrous, they are liquidating, them now. See if you can get one without a motor, save some more money, then throw in the Bafang stock m560 750watt-1000watt that uses same form factor as m600. Or buy m560 tuned motor from watt wagons that has no overheating issues like this does. Luna will say be in the right gear. I've ridden my whole life i know what gear to be in, but thy make excuses for there lack of thought about people who want feedback from obstacles they are riding/tackling at the peddles. Bikes really only good at 20-30miles if u leave it at 1000watts and pas at 80 fw at 3 and PAS response at 0.08. I've put 1000 miles on my bike it still looks like new, & motor is still perfect. But onky because i make sure i keep the temps from leaving the orange zone on VESC app. If you have to constantly monitor the temp, its hard to ride gnarly because ur looking at the phone and not the trail.
That's a lot of information. I don't have problems with mine over heating. I can get it hot but I have to turn it way up and use the throttle alot. I have throttle all the way up. Pedal assist is as low as I can get it with still be able to hold 25 mph. That is usually 2-3 out of 10. Nice to know the other options.
With the Ludicrous controller, is it possible to dial back the power to the stock bike controller power setting. I want to get the optional controller just to have the extra power in reserve. Have you had any overheating motor problems with the bike. Talking with Luna(Scott) still mentions the motor tends to overheat when pushed. Thanks for doing the video, very informative.
Yes very easy to dial back i live in New Jersey and tbh anything over 1000watts you can gwt hot real fast especially if doing a lot of road or up and down trail riding. If ur climbing and not in biggest cog on cassette with max power u will hit redline heat temps within a 1.5miles. It is cool but i plan to ride my Luna X2 m600 v2 until it dies, and replace with watt wagons M560 motor using an aftermarket controller as well. Lunas bike look sexy. @@Indictedheart Had the X2 for 8mos. no over heating so far. We do serious mtn trails in Colo and hardcore single-track. I get 50mi on a single charge, battery lasts 3-4hr(never had to limp home). I am in PAS 1-2 most times and only use throttle in serious jams. I lighten my X2 to 53lbs to be competitive with the other riders. Am happy with the bike, will check into the 560 if you think it better. Thanks for the info.
Z1 will definitely not overheat as easy as the X2. On the other hand, Z1 is a lot heavier, by many pounds. So choose wisely; if you want to be competitive with riders on real MTB bikes, you may want to keep it light. I have found on trails, I don't really push the motor and it doesn't overheat, YMMV. I only push it up hills; but most of the time, it's climbing in a low gear, at low power.
@@beachbarlouie sorry but I'm negotiating a pre-owned x-1, so how can I know if this bike has this controller and the newest version of the vesc app? is it visible to my eye somehow or how can I know this before spendin some money? sorry to bother you, I hope you can ive me some advice before purchasing this bike that supposedly has less than 250 miles of usage.
@@gastonlozano4162 The controller is on the right side of the motor and will look bronze anodized and have air cooling fins. The upgrade can be downloaded from Luna
Android, I don't try and look at the VESC app while I am riding any longer. I can't see the information when I need too. They're too many widgets. I have it set to the way I like it and doesn't overheat.
