Lunch & Learn Series
The Downeast Fisheries Partnership: How collaboration is helping nine partners strengthen our coastal communities and fisheries in Downeast Maine
Strengthening and safeguarding our Downeast coastal communities, especially in these fast changing times, requires a collaborative and systems-oriented approach. The Downeast Fisheries Partnership came together a decade ago to respond to the region’s greatest economic and environmental needs by helping communities foster cross-sector solutions that preserve our region’s proud fishing heritage and ensure an equitable and sustainable future. Our Partnership harnesses the strength of nine local nonprofit organizations (including MCCF) who share the vision of healthy communities, a prosperous local fisheries economy, and a thriving natural environment for Downeast Maine.
In this Lunch & Learn you'll hear from partners of the DFP talk about how they work together to bridge the gap between research and practice by translating local knowledge and scientific research into action in ways that support cooperative and ecosystem-based fisheries management.
Speakers:
Bob Wood, Director, Downeast Fisheries Partnership
Mike Thalhauser, Collaborative Management Specialist, MCCF
Dianne Tilton, Executive Director, Downeast Institute
