On a frontal chest radiograph you NEVER identify lobes. Why? Because in a frontal projection there is superimposition of certain segments of the three lobes. What we call instead are superior, middle and inferior zones. Although we can use the silhouette sign to locate the pathology to a particular lobe on a frontal chest radiograph.
