Thorne lied to Lunk, too. He only fessed up eventually because he couldn't bear being beaten anymore. The only person who wasn't lying to Link for greedy reasons was the dad. He just wanted Lunk to not destroy his life.

He felt like Stormy and his men suffered long enough. Remember, he brutally beat them each time he was lied to, yet didn't intentionally hurt anyone else. So he basically just set things right. Equal punishment for everyone.

So Lunk's dad wasn't actually deceiving him all of these years, that's just the story that the 'god guy' came up with. Lunk and his dad are just mindless puppets, with no idea of what's going on. That was one of the most depressing ending's to any of their shorts. A guy breaks the entire universe, then spends eternity playing with it's mindless corpse.
