I produced most of the material for Lupe’s unreleased album before Food and Liquor. It was me and a guy named Boogz from Chicago. Several of the track I did are on RU-vid, if you’re looking to go into the Lupe unreleased material
Here’s the playlist of the tracks I did for Lupe. I re-worked “What It Coulda Been” in 2017 as well. It’s on ITunes. ru-vid.com/group/PL3349D0D1E8FF5771&si=N_ajZDxXriVJeNJv
That original version of Food & Liquor, I remember bumping it non-stop for a month and it was definitely better in many regards than the eventual retail version.
This is so deep. Being from Chicago I always truly ❤️ ed and appreciated Lupe Fiasco I still do but I feel weird now knowing thier indeed was an attempt to steal his soul on those old favorite hits. I will steer away from those tracks because I will not and do not consent to the stealing of his soul energy utilizing my ears as a vehicle and thereby further stealing, essentially of Chicago's artistic soul. 😮 Understanding what truly happened helps me work on being the energetic change because as an artist myself, a writer. I clearly understand what happened and what is intended to continously happen on top of those notes. Create new notes lupe and cancel the energetic theft contracts. Sending ❤ from Spain although I still miss shytown everyday. I really do.
I think Lupe would still want you to listen to those songs despite the situation. He left gems in those songs to pretty much elude to what he was experiencing and put his artistry into them.
Shytown? You mean Chitown? I don't know where you're from in Chicago saying shytown lol. Also, this happened over a decade ago and Lupe has put out a ton of music since then. Lupe talks about contracts and the industry in almost every song he has made since signing with Atlantic, I don't know how you could possibly be a fan and not know about this. Even in songs he released with Atlantic.
What I never understood about Lupe is how he specified that he "Won't give his all to Atlantic" after Lasers yet T&Y sounds like something on the level of Drogas Wave/DMIZ, or arguably better.
I agree, it is a bit interesting. T&Y is a bit of an outlier in that regard. It's one of his better albums, almost all his fans have agreed on that from what I've seen but it was definitely while he was still on Atlantic. So I do question what made that one different.
Yea, record label blackballing is messed up, Lupe isn't the only rapper who has been through it but he's probably one of the most prominent and skilled rappers I can think of that has been through it like this and has spoken on it.
I do have that album, I like some of Wiz's stuff so a Wiz video might be interesting. What was the big issue with Atlantic and Rolling Papers in particular? I know they're a reford label known for their formulaic hits and whatnot but was something different with Wiz?
@@OneStopHipHop811 a corporate scumbag. When you listen to the conversation with Lupe Joe sounds like he kinda admires the snakey movements of the label and since then he had snakey moves on Rory and Mal. He was all about equity when HE wanted equity all until his friends wanted equity.
Its crazy how they tried to messed up his career, he should be as big as Kanye, JCole, Kendrick, etc. The dude is literally the lyricist nobody wants smoke from only that can touch him lyrically is Andre 3000 Kendrick and Cole. Another one cut from the same cloth as Kendrick and JCole just without a major label giving correct promotion. Honestly I think they gave him hell because they feel that Jay Z fucked them over and Jay brought Lu to them so in revenge they ruined his change to be as big as a Kanye. It literally the Industry is shady its needs to be taking over.
You guys weren't buying his albums and cassettes and Atlantic weren't recouping their investment. Stop making as if you cared for him that much whereas you didn't.
People forget how much buzz lupe had at a point. Lots of co-signs from folks that mattered. But you can’t judge his mainstream success after you take into consideration, his relationship with his label. You still needed a label during the mid 00’s, for everything…to promote, advertise, or fire fight.
Woooow!!! I never knew this! These labels truly truly are 😈s!! This is why I support Lupe to the FULLEST!!! He’s a genius great top-tier in the game & my fav! Now understand when the REAL ones get under appreciated!!!
Excellent video I just went to one of his concerts a few weeks ago. He is definitely one of my favorite artist of all time and I really appreciate how you laid out the story.
I do not have a download link for the songs themselves but you might be able to get some help with that on the Lupe Fiasco sub. www.reddit.com/r/LupeFiasco/
