Emre Akiliç Idk I came off pretty harsh but wym my favourite rapper could never my pfp is fucking Nas, not that u know who that is, and not that that’s even my favourite rapper. U prolly think underground is rittz merkules tech n9ne and Hopsin stfu
Lupe is one of those artists who are truly channeling their inner self through their work. They are masters of getting in the mental state where you are projecting whats coming from in side you, without thinking, fear, or expectation. It's expression in its most authentic form. It's as much a training of the mind as well as creative technique/skill. You see him even call it out in his one line about messing up. It was a moment of fear that caught him up and he turned it into part of his freestyle. Quite impressive.
well said theBKLounge...its so good its hard to believe its not written..but as a fan i know his writtens and they are 4 million times better than this..
That's why freestyle skills are so impressive. It engages mathematically (rhythm/flow), linguistically, and psychologically. It's almost like allowing people to read your mind for a few minutes.
It amazes me how you can visually see him trying to find that mental space in the beginning. And once he finds it , it’s like his mind goes on auto pilot and he spits out bar effortlessly. Dope!
I do appreciate a good freestyle but I don't have anything against guys who are good at written bars. I have a problem with people who using ghost writers..... Drake prime example, and as well as most rappers past there 3rd album.
+Itaku ppl listen and consume what they want. you're basically asking an individual to drink this water, it's better than this water that's the same as this water. you understand? you may feel that you've found the greatest spring on Earth where you are in life but someone else not you has done the same. Don't ask these questions, enjoy the spring while it last.
If you going off the dome you have to not give a fuck, can't be nervous thinking whether it will suck. You'll quickly catch your flow and the rhymes will start coming to thought. This is a perfect example.
Terrence Goodnight problem with lupe is he raps are to general. his lyrics have always been dope. he cant get what he would want to say normally across. he thinks rhyme first then point second. kendrick eminem the entire slaughterhouse group ra the rugged man macklemore pusha t all can get there point across without even thinking about what rhymes first just because there rhyme vocab is so vast and broad
You have to Understand, 90% OF "FREESTYLES" are not off the dome like this. So this ALREADY is in another class. Then Lupe just.... I mean, King of Lyricism .. 🔥this was off the dome and amazing
Been saying this for years bloooood..... "Rappers coming with prewrittens on freestyle shows ..... Thats how i know the glow is all scripted for the higher folks. We're the lower kind, Get impressed by an entertainer whos got his finger on rewind... Then flex makes a buncha noises to help clarify what you thought you heard. You get to work the next day to show it off but thats absurd... The entertainment industry whos keeping you distracted already sent the serve. And by that i mean you're server got the word and oh wow, look at your servers word.... The same freestyle that you thought you were gonna introduce to the herd...... The same freestyle that has nothing but prewritten words. Like camron said . "the cycle is sick."
Lupe is so underrated, he is a lyricist, and he is so calm, wit his freestyles, telling u u don't need to be yelling to be to do that! Always your biggest Fan❤️
First off Lupe is not human lol! After the 1st freestyle which was EPIC he says I was just warming up and goes back in! Bruh really? How do ppl not recognize Lupe as one of the true greats of all time? Real talk.
Hell no. That's Andre 3000. No question. I see more of D'Angelo in Lupe. Insanely brilliant. Once at the top of the world. Still insanely brilliant. But for some reason, the world isn't listening as much.
Nah it was just for the most part boring and non substance... It got to a point after the 3 minute mark where he was just rhyming words in sentences that sound alike pretty much.
Pound for Pound greatest lyricist of our time. Every time he touches the mic he murders with the flow and the delivery. That combo is pure MC and artistry!
Man, I get the love for people like Kendrick, and J.Cole.. I love them myself, but Lupe is just on another level for me. Everything about the guy is off the charts
I don't get why Cole is up there, he is lyrically mediocore, he ain't even in the same sport as Lupe, MF DOOM, Aesop, K-Rino, 'Driver, Kendrick, 3stacks etc
To compare him to them is an insult, time to compare him to the all timers, he has earned that, for starters he's eclipsed Common as the best ever out of Chicago. Taking it further, best to debut this century. Finally most polished all around lyricist, since that MC who grew up in QueensBridge whose debut album dropped in 94. It's time to accept the undeniable.
I love watching this because you can see how it's all off the top of his head. He feels a little off-flow to begin with and you can see him closing his eyes and getting used to the environment that is the beat behind his words. And he naturally achieves higher and higher wordplay and confidence until he's in a state where he can just let his thoughts spill out of his head right on beat. This is how hip-hop should be.
I love how you can see how much Lupe actually likes to rap, like he got really excited towards the end and his energy was building throughout the whole thing
My fellow chi-town native this was dope not to many artists can flow a free stlye and keep it going love that beat " the artifacts" I'm a true hip hop head. Lupe keep doing ur thing this displays the brilliance of one's mind.
I remember listening to this when it first came out, multiple times, straight through from start to finish. Nothing on my mind but watching this video of a phenomenal artist at the height of his powers. Now eight years later and I'm thinking about opening up other tabs and finding other stuff to do... What happened to my attention span in the intervening 8 years?
Sometimes I. want to. cry listening to this like the rhythm and the flow coming to gether in one harmony creating this masterpiece of hip hop nostalgia... "see I messed up there, try to do it less off fear" Lupe Fiasco
first started listening to Lupe back in '06 (6th grade). always been my favorite and always will be. no one is touching him lyrically. in fact i didn't even really listen to rap/hip hop because i didn't like the subject matter, but once i heard Lupe he totally changed my mind. i saw him live for the first time in 2009 and he let me rap a song with him on his Lasers tour. it was so dope and will always be one of my favorite memories.
Straight off the top. Hes an intelligent rapper with a lot of deep thoughts and positive ideas, definitely an underrated rapper and to those of those who truly appreciate hip hop; hes truly a breath of fresh air
He's so smooth and calm with it.. even when he messed up he just took it in stride! Mad respect for my favorite artist. Still waiting on Skulls and The Cool 2...
every time i want to remember why lupe was once my favourite rapper, i refer to food and liquor... the first offering... and this freestyle. this freestyle keeps lupe alive in my present
This man is like an industrial plant ya know those factory's that crush bricks into stones then stones into chips the chips turn into gravel and then they use shovels to pour the pavements But Lupe's conveyor belt doesnt have stones on it his conveyor belt has " words' he puts them through his words through the industrial plant and they come out his mouth ready to pour pavements. This dude is pure gold.
Lupe is one of the few rappers i always see being straight. Like usually rappers have fakeish freestyle verses but every one I have seen of him are straight up real and off the dome. A true artist.
that's wat im talkin' bout...right there..that's hip hop right there...will never understand how someone can pull words right out of the air, flip 'em inside their head and spit out the most awesome rhymes you've ever heard..Lupe..i'm a fan for LIFE! Word!
