I finally got around to trying to paint a glow in the dark lure using glow in the dark powder. I tried adding the powder to acrylic medium and airbrushing it and when this failed I resorted to hand painting the mixture onto the lure. I'll chalk this up as a sort of failure and try a different technique next time to get the glow in the dark implemented. I can see using these lures mainly for bass, possibly catfish and perch. This tutorial shows airbrushing and detailing.

The overspray really shows up with the glow under it. Striped bass would love this

Initially I wasn't happy with the overspray, I only wanted the scaling to go halfway down. But when I turned the lights out I liked it more. Thanks!

@@FishingPhilosophy I like the gradient rather than a hard line. Looks more natural. As natural as a glowing fish could be

I have several colors of glow in the dark powders I haven’t tried yet. Just my opinion, but I probably would have put a clear coat on the bait and lightly sanded it before add the black. Think it would have came out smooth

I agree! I'm going to do a new glow in the dark lure using a similar technique to what you suggest

How long does the glow last? Most only last a few seconds at the most! I must admit yours looks much brighter.

I tested for 10 minutes for each charge: + LED bulb charge for 1 minute = 2.5 minutes of original brightness then degraded slowly the remaining 7.5 minutes (I’m sure it’ll last 15 minutes). + Black light charge for 1 minute = 5 minutes original brightness, then degraded very slowly the remaining 5 minutes (I’m sure it’ll last 15+ minutes).

There are a variety of glow in the dark powder colors you can use including: blue, red, yellow, white, etc.

You can mix glow powder but also you can try the glow paints for aibrushing. They charge up great with a UV flashlight 🤙 Also, to get rid of all my edges or grit, I have been using a three epoxy coat minimum on my lures. It may help ya, may not. Nice video either way dude 🤘

I painted a glow in the dark lure a few months ago where the first thing I did was mix glow in the dark powder with epoxy and put that on. Then I painted the lure and put the final clear coat on. It worked way better than the method I tried in this video. Thanks for the suggestion on glow paints! I'll give them a try.
