Hi Franco……I use night glow soft Shad’s on jig heads here in the North East during the day because the water is very murky. For hard baits I have used cheap Craft Smart glow paint that I get from Michaels. It needs to be thinned to spray it but it gives a nice solid coat. One interesting thing that I have done is use it for homemade eyes. I make little uv resin domes and paint the backs with the glow paint. No pupil……..Put that on a dark lure……….Great vid……I look forward to Friday mornings……

Nice idea for the eyes.

The knife blade could make a good lure too. A long but fairly light spoon type thing should catch fish. You could grind it so it has a tail profile and bend it so it has a good action. Should work. Would primer help before you paint the glow paint on the knife handle? Maybe a white base coat would make the glow paint work more efficiently.

I believe createx recommends using the glow paint over bright or fluorescent colors.

That was fun. The light system is pretty cool. I've only tried the GID powder but it lasts a pretty long time depending on how much you use. I had hoped to use it mixed with two part epoxy as a final coat but to get enough powder in the mix to really pop it negatively affected the finish and tended to pool down rather than stay evenly coated. Further experimentation came up with a great idea. I actually drilled a pattern of holes and filled them with a thick mixture of powder and two part epoxy then after that dried i was able to do a nice finish coat as per usual. The effect was really awesome. For flattish jigs I only use the GID adhesive tape that can be cut or painted to make nice contrasting patterns and the no name tape I order here in Indonesia at least glows longer than anything else I've tried. (Up to half an hour)

I was going to tell him the same thing! Powder needs to be thick. I've made my own jigs for ice fishing. The epoxy used needs to be good stuff or it will yellow with age.

Hi mate i have myself tried the createx glow in the dark spray myself and with good success once you've worked out how to apply for best results but they do have 2 products in their line which both work i recently purchased some of the glow in the dark powder in different colours to experiment one very noticeable part of the glow in the dark addition even low light conditions worked well especially on the squid jags i make, im keen to see an Australian murray cod made and the white tip surrounding each of their tail and fins with glow in the dark as the size of these fish are massive to highlight glillplates and fins would really put a new spin on cod fishing over here I'd say , chamber definitely looks worth while too great video buddy

That mullet lure turned out great and neat and cheap way to get some good offshore bottom jigs! The charging tube seems to work pretty good too! Thanks for the content!

Very interesting concept for the jigging lure. A comparison between the UV light and a bright white light for charging the glow paint would be cool. Your content is always thought provoking.

Hi Franco. Maybe it would glow better if you put the glow paint last. Over the mesh to make the scales be the glow part. That way the glow isn't getting covered by any other paint. Maybe???

Who knew there was that much engineering in a hook? Great question, whomever asked, and excellent explanation Franco. Always look forward to your builds and the knowledge you convey.

seeing the powder version of the pigment makes me wonder if you could add some in to a resin pour. If i give it a try i'll let you know.

So i did try this over the weekend. I got 1 ounce of the aqua color powdered pigment. I made one lure with a ~10% mix (2.5g in 26g casting resin plus 2.5g micro balloons). and i think it came out very well. i use the tan alumilite (RC-3) resin which comes out with a bone type color. so i only paint ~1/3 the bait and leave the bottom 2/3 the natural color. The 2nd i reduced the pigment to ~4% (1.1g) which still worked but it did not pop quite as bright.

If I could go back a few videos, to the one where you used a silicone mold to make a resin twitch bait. Have you ever used plastisol for the body instead of resin? Thanks Bert.

I often find glow in the dark paints to be rather disappointing. Some pigment powders are ok, but need to be mixed in very concentrated amounts to be truly useful. For some reason, glow in the dark plastics seem to work a lot better. I hope you are able to figure out a more successful solution. I would be very interested to see a truly useful glow in the dark application that the home bait maker could apply.

As usual,, you have provided another very educational video! I've seen glo type lures, and I have a friend that makes jig type lures (sells in Bass Pro Shops) that has glow stripes on them, and they are becoming his best sellers. But I don't understand the "why" of it,,, what is the glo replicating??

In deep saltwater they can look like a squid...they have bio luminescence

So is there anything to leaving the lure in the "light" longer than the 20 seconds and it lasting longer? Like charging it "more".....

doesn't seem like it.
