I'm so happy Brian was able to experience a total solar eclipse on the path of totality in such a magical place. After he had to miss the last one we had talked and I stressed how magical of an experience it was and that he absolutely needed to see one before he died, he said: "Oh hell yeah pimp you know I'm gonna get me some crispy eclipse bangers before I'm gone". I am so glad that he did and I am so grateful that you dedicated this to Brian. Thanks for sharing Martin, this was amazing. WE OUT HERE I love you and I'm gonna miss you Mr. B.
I remember watching the solar eclipse in Missouri back in 2017. Honestly, the whole experience is way weirder than any video you find about it. Over the course of a few hours, the sky doesn't darken like a sunset, it dims like someone is slowly turning down a light switch. You can't see the moon at all with the naked eye until the eclipse goes total. But as it gets closer and closer, anything that creates little pinholes of light begins to emulate the eclipse. Tree leaves leave hundreds of little crescents on the ground. Finally as the eclipse finally goes total, the sky just instantly drops to an illuminated black. Any stars that aren't near the eclipse suddenly appear in the middle of the day, and the only sound you can hear for miles is the chirp of crickets fooled into thinking it was nighttime. It's just an amazing sight to see, definitely should be on everyone's bucket list!
I love your description. :) I saw the 2017 totality in Oregon near Madras, and as you say, it's so much weirder and more intense than anything on video. What struck me the most was how fast everything changes, even though I knew that it would be fast. Seeing the Sun literally shrink away in the last few seconds and vanish into a black void, as if it had been sucked into a black hole, and the corona and red prominences popping out in that moment, was the most unbelievable thing I've ever seen.

I was in Bella Vista, San Juan, Argentina, and when the sun set over the Andes foothills, the moon was still partially covering the sun so the sun was being eaten by both the moon and the Andes. RIP sun

This looks great! I really liked the shot facing away from the Sun. Had the same idea but no more cameras to work with on the eclipse day. Still got some nice shots though.

Breathtaking, Martin! You must have used a star tracker of some kind for the partial eclipse timelapse. I love the corona! I got to see and shoot the 2018 total eclipse in Oregon. What an experience!
