I've learned something from every video of yours so far. I would have never thought to connect the rock lights to the courtesy lights. But most of all, I appreciate you asking to Like and Subscribe at the *end* of your videos, when you've earned it, so to speak.
This is so awesome to hear! And yes I feel the kudos should come at the end when you’ve earned it. I think most videos people don’t make it to the end once they get that they need and is why folks say at the beginning.
The diodes were a lightbulb moment! I have the Oracle Sidetrack and have been trying to figure the easiest way to do that. Now, they will come on with a switch and with the dome lights. Thank you.
You bet man… I’m almost tempted to reload the video because my Tee Tap connectors finally arrived this afternoon… I tapped into the bed light driver circuit which is a beige and white wire in the passenger foot well on connector F… I ran a short wire through the firewall and up to the diode… now when I unlock the vehicle or open the door my rock lights come on… But the diode prevents lights on that circuit from coming on when I press my auxiliary button… It’s a win-win. Shoot me an email and I can send you some photos… JKHARTEL3@gmail.com
Great video! I’ve been researching different mods for my 2022 Gobi Mojave I have on order for about a month now, and these are definitely on the list. I love how they can just plug right into the AUX group and be done with it. Throw in the fact that it’s ‘Murica and I’m sold.
Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment… Sorry it took 26 minutes to get the point across but it sounds like it opened up some ideas for you….. 🤝
As always an informative full install. Two thumbs up. If you can do a shorts video with the lights coming on when the doors open. I am sure others would enjoy.
Nice intro. Hook'em! Fellow Texan. A control relay inline to turn on the lights from two options, like from an interior light circuit and the Aux switch is a good idea also.
Awesome video! Great help, I have a 21 Mojave and I ordered exactly what you have from LUX (4 10 ft, 4 20 ft, and 3 zone Bluetooth controller). I love where you mounted the controller. Since we have nearly the same vehicle I would love to see more detail of where you routed the wiring.
$300 lights.. prove their worth.. remove all doubt.. 6months in, it’s one of the best investments I’ve done. Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment. Whoop 👍🏼
Bad ass! Let me know if you have any questions! I hade some wiring diagrams available if you want to run a diode for your courtesy lamps Jkhartel3@gmail.com
Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment… I am extremely happy with the setup and performance, even after a year… I did mention tapping into the courtesy lamps, and I actually did that, and couldn’t be happier with the convenience of having them come on when I unlock the vehicle or open the door
@Gator_Overland That's great to hear! I have never bought rock lights before and was previously considering buying the cheap aluminum ones from foreign sellers on amazon. However, I feel like it's better to invest in something that will last, especially through field applications! It's good to know these are holding up for you, and I'm going to consider buying this brand.
Absolutely! It’s the only way to be seen these days.. I need your algorithm.. and you could benefit from mine.. anyone with 1k+ is privy to the mention.. I just pay it forward .. 🤝
Great video! Thanks. I'm about to install the very same lights but was thinking that by mounting the control box in the cargo bed (beside one the lights) and using the cargo bed light leads to power up the Lux lights, I would have them power up as courtesy lights (as the cargo bed lights normally do) AND control them from the cargo light OEM in dash switch. No need for an Auxiliary button connection or diode with that set up. Would you agree?
Curious as to the placement of the light on the rear driver side. Where did you place that light? Pic? Great video. I loved you saw blade trick great idea!!!!
Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment! Exactly the same place one passenger 11:40 shown in video is the same on driver .. shoot an email and I’ll send actual photos if need be. JKHartel3@gmail.com
This was the only thing I wanted to do when I installed mine but wasn't sure best way to make it happen. Totally forgot about the hopkins diodes. Just ordered a set to do my wifes and my jeep. Also just wondering what metal did you put in the front fender, I made a custom piece that I covered in a video a while back, but could not see exactly what you did.
About 10:53 I explain that I used a hacksaw blade… It’s high carbon steel and super magnetic… It also has a hole conveniently at each end🤘🏼🤘🏼 Here is a follow up I did for the diode and reference to the circuit I attached into ru-vid.comGGahxM6uoL8?feature=share
@@GatorOverland I must have been distracted when by the kid when you mentioned it, but it was a lot quicker and easier than. What I did. Great idea. Great video with good ideas beyond the standard just toss them up there.
@@GatorOverland t Yea it was a lot of work and I dreaded it when I knew I was doing it on the 2nd jeep also. Took at least an hour on each side so your idea is a lot better for the Time. We just couldn't figure out what metal to bend and the saw blade was perfect cause the drilling and bolts work, but tear the arms up.
Hi Do you need some great lighting for your car to help you better driving, off-road? We're the pro auto lighting manufacturer for nearly 20 years and we're looking for sponsorship!
Thanks for putting this video up, very helpful. Can you put a link to the Diode kit you are using? I want to wire the lights to curtesy lights as well. Thanks
Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment… They are 6000 K white, So they are pretty white, almost to the point of bluish… It is a clean white though… The white balance on the phone at night might be conflicting with the actual color but I am very happy with the results… Feel free to reach out via email and I can send you maybe some video for reference… JKHARTEL3@gmail.com
Just got mine on the 2021 Bronco Badlands. The LED BLE app is confusing for me. Can't see to find anything on the web in regards to using it. What did you use?
It’s a fantastic upgrade… I literally use them every day, and I’m bout to incorporate them into my off-road trailer for the simplicity of magnetism, instead of drilling into the steel body of the trailer.. super bright, and very efficient..
So my previous rock lights I ordered off Amazon they were 30$ and rgb I have a 2021 overland and I don’t have the aux switches and I want to replace my lights with these how would I go about the aux thing and set them up to my lights I also have the 30$ ones connected to my bed light button and they work when I unlock and lock
shoot me an email to jkhartel3@gmail.com I’d be happy to answer further. Simply put you would need a wire connected to 12v with a interrupter switch in between for an on/off function.. you could do it for a few bucks or invest in a switch pro or sPod or similar
Why didn't you run the wires in the channel that the gladiator and wrangler have along the firewall? No loom, etc. Your wires are literally right in front of it.
Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment. It wouldn’t fit in the channel with the loom, and/or the bundle of wires without the loom… I would have done this otherwise.. I went the extra step with the loom as protection from the field rodents and heat from the engine.
That would be a question to confirm with lux, it these light draw very little and are on a self resetting circuit. The lights draw 150mA each, and there are typically 3 zones per controller.. you can wire the zones separately for different switches or all together for them to activate at the same time.
@Reggiekranz consolidate splicing prior to putting in the box… For example, there are 8 holes on the exterior of the box… If you’re wanting to do 12 lights, then you would have to combine/consolidate twice to one wire prior to going into the hole to make for ease of wiring. You could also make your self some new holes in the box… The box is not waterproof, but on the best side of dustproof..
No.. I placed mine on top of the fuse box, which is otherwise the highest place in the engine bay… If I have water getting that high, I have bigger problems
The JL is slightly different because they don’t have the bed circuit. The gladiator bed circuit turns off and on only… The interior of both the wrangler and the gladiator gradually dim. If you tap into your courtesy lamps under your foot, well, your exterior lights will gradually dim as well. The correct way to do it would be to tap into the foot Well lights and use that as the trigger for a relay and have the output of the relay turn on the lights… I can explain this further in depth if you reach out via email… JKHARTEL3@gmail.com
Hey thanks for reaching out! The diode works great! Feel free to reach out if you have any questions about wiring. Jkhartel3@gmail.com Diode link- amzn.to/3TLTlJL
Quick like! Still watching install. I'd love a way to turn turn the convenience light feature on and off with some kind of switch. Not sure how I'd do that. Even a manual switch near battery is fine. I guess I can just add a fuse and pull it for the rare times I wouldn't want the rock lights on with convenience lights. Any thoughts? Regards.
No problem! Always happy to help. I’m on newborn duty right now so I have some free time to answer quickly! Yes, it’s an additional step, but you could wire in a interrupter switch to have power over when/if you want the courtesy lights to come on with the door open. You could easily affix this switch to the dash or console areas. A simple solution to the switch, if necessary, would be to just unplug then spade from the diode that Is wired to power from the courtesy group. In my experience, With as little power as these lights consume you’ll probably find it convenient enough to just leave them powered. Even modern vehicle perimeter lighting comes on during the day when the courtesy group is activated. What kind of vehicle is yours? And if you want help with wiring diagram, shoot me an email and id be happy to draw one up to suit your needs. Jkhartel3@gmail.com
It’s a boxed frame.. nearly impossible to run through the frame. I ran on top of the frame with all the other factory wires. 10k of overlanding and off-roading since install and no issues.. there won’t be issues as far as I’m concerned . 🤘🏼🤘🏼
Bad ass! Feel free to reach out if you have any questions. I later wired mine in to the courtesy lamps so when I opened the door or unlock they illuminated as well. Jkhartel3@gmail.com
