I bought the Luxe Sil-Rocket from your website a few years ago. It has never let me down! It has survived stormy nights half way up The Cobbler & amazingly there was no water ingress despite being camped on what amounted to a bog. Most impressed. We bought the Mega Horn later for family camping holidays where more space is required. Great products.

Changeable inner position is a smart idea.

I prefer Aluxe minipeak 2P, its nice n simple but it willbe more nicely if completed with floorsheet which is sewing in one with the tent to prevent from bugs/ant/snake/etc enter the tentroom.

Thanks for the video. I have purchased the V4 outerfly and am looking for a double inner that would be lighter than the F4 (almost 1kg). Any recommandation? Thank you!

Hi Bob, I just wanted to drop you a comment and say thanks for the insight that this video (and your others on the F6 & F8) has provided. I bought a V4A off you last week. I've only done a couple of practice pitches with it but am impressed with the overall quality of the tent (it'll get its first proper outing over the bank holiday weekend). I'll be seam sealing it in due course and also doing that shock cord mod to the inner tent guylines that you recommended in this video. I spent an unhealthy amount of time pondering whether to get the V4A or the F6A. I liked the amount of extra space that the F6 offered (pure luxury!), but I went for the V4A because I preferred the inner tent arrangement. One suggestion that I would offer up for you/Luxe to consider is whether its worth offering the F6A as an outer tent only option so that the buyer can then spec it out with their preferred inner tent. If that option was available then I'd have most likely gone for the F6 with a V4 inner. I appreciate you can just buy the F6A, add the V4 inner to the order and have the choice of both inner tents. But breaking it down further might make it more affordable? Thanks again for the great service 👍

I'm pretty sure the inner clips to the eyelets on the 6 corners of the tent not to the pegs. That's where I clip mine and it erects the bathtub perfectly 👍

Hi can we pitch both double inner and hex peak v4a together in one go? or we have to do the inner first and then outer fly on top?
@Lee-70ish
@Lee-70ish 4 года назад
All these light weight tipi shelters are based around the old Golite HEX 3 which I still own and after 10 years is still going strong and is much bigger ( 2 people easily 3 at a squeeze) . At just over 1.5 kg without pegs which for a 2/3 person tent is imho very light.
@TheOutdoorsStation
@TheOutdoorsStation 4 года назад
Lee B I think you’ll find the Hex3 itself was based on much older teepee designs. They weren’t the original designers.

Nice video, I have a 4a and in the instructions it shows attaching the inner to rings on the inside which are behind the guy points of the fly sheet. I tend to use this method and it seems to work.
@TheOutdoorsStation
@TheOutdoorsStation 6 лет назад
Bob Evans Yes this works well. However if you raise the tent up for more ventilation pegs prevent the inner from being lifted too. They just give you more options.

Does this give more room for head and feets? I'm on the fence since l'm 6 foot 3.
@bobevans4040
@bobevans4040 2 года назад
@@hannespaulin7924 Personally I don't think it will increase the room for your head or feet. The inner tent is only a certain size and you can't increase the height of the side walls or the length of it.

I'm thinking about getting that Luxe Hex Peak and putting a stove jack on it for a winter tent!
@TheOutdoorsStation
@TheOutdoorsStation 6 лет назад
Vander valid Really? It would have be a very small stove. Have you looked at the large F6A Winter Shelter? Not something I would feel safe doing and using to be honest.
@hannespaulin7924
@hannespaulin7924 2 года назад
Since this is the upgraded version with a larger inner. Is it still really too small for me being 6 foot 3? I looked at your older review of the earlier version of this tent saying the same thing. The inner went from 225 cm to 233 but still too small?
@TheOutdoorsStation
@TheOutdoorsStation 2 года назад
Yes due to the pitch of the inner and the depth of your mat your face a feet will be against material. For 6’3” you would need the Hexpeak F6A or the Lightwave. Plenty of headroom and space for taller people.

Had my v4a that I got second hand for about 2 months , when I clip the inner in I just connect the hooks to the rings that are on the outer of the tent , not on the pegs , does this come as default or has the previous owner put them on . Little bit confused from the video.
@TheOutdoorsStation
@TheOutdoorsStation 5 лет назад
Sam You have the current model. From experience I’ve found that the ‘hook on’ system works well, but the guy/shock cord system is more flexible for different terrains.
@TheOutdoorsStation
@TheOutdoorsStation 5 лет назад
Yes this is the standard option to save extra pegs. However from experience I find I can get better tension by using pegs. It is good to have options for different conditions.

Can i get away with just a trekking pole without all these missing links?
@TheOutdoorsStation
@TheOutdoorsStation 15 дней назад
Doubtful. Once the tent is pegged out and guys applied there is a lot of downward force applied to the support. A single trekking pole fully extended is very weak due to minimal overlap of each section. Hence a link will enable a pair of walking poles to be considerably stronger. Your choice but don’t be surprised if it breaks. Alternatively buy the Luxe163X pole which is designed for the job.
@vvs3796
@vvs3796 15 дней назад
Hm...that's a big downside of this tent tent...and what is the weight of the hex pole? I use lite leki poles which are thinner than standard,so missing link would not fit (even if I manage to find it)e@@TheOutdoorsStation
@TheOutdoorsStation
@TheOutdoorsStation 15 дней назад
What Leki poles are you talking about? They don’t make thinner poles?
@vvs3796
@vvs3796 15 дней назад
Leki Sherpa lite. They have whole range of lite versions. It s achieved by slightly thinner tubes in diameter.
@vvs3796
@vvs3796 15 дней назад
I m still considering this tent though. It looks much stronger and weather resistant than a lanshan, and still packable . I don't mind extra weight. Could you recommend some trekking pole tent that are similar to hexpeak for bad weather ? Thanks

Western Tent Makers: you're killing us by purchasing Chinese clones instead of the originals. ME: Okay, so will you sell me a Hex Peak F6 Fly and a 4VA single inner? You know, EXACTLY like the guy above uses in HIS adventures? Western Tent Makers: No. You can buy the full-priced Hex Peak F6A, along with the expensive double inner you won't use, plus the 4VA inner seperately. ME: hold on... is that Aliexpress?
@TheOutdoorsStation
@TheOutdoorsStation 4 года назад
Darth KEK Sounds to me like you’re a bit confused, which is understandable depending on which country you’re in. In UK the F6A comes ‘with’ the double inner. If you want the single inner then that is available as an extra. However the manufacturer next year may split everything so you can buy the tents as individual separates. In you’re in the US the retailer there is confusing everyone with his mixed options and product name changing which isn’t helping sadly.

@@TheOutdoorsStation I'm in the UK, I've used you guys for years here and there. I know the two "6" versions (with the double inner, the winter solo) all I want is the 6 tarp and the 4 single inner. I've noticed other people ask about this combo too.
@TheOutdoorsStation

Darth KEK All I can say that it is coming I believe in spring all being well. Otherwise we would be surrounded by half open packages as dead stock. Trust me, we have been trying to get them to expand the range logically and it’s been a battle at times.

@@TheOutdoorsStation - oh I'm not blaming YOU mate. I know you're just the distributor and you'd quickly end up with a lot of unsold 2-person inners. Fingers crossed for 2020.

For the money you pay for a basic tent your only getting half the tent. Having to seal a modern tent yourself? Seriously? It looks like a dogs dinner that sealing. Buy the pole at extra cost. Again a tent without a pole is useless. Much better tents out there for less
@TheOutdoorsStation
@TheOutdoorsStation 6 лет назад
Siliconised fabric can't be seam sealed in the same way as PU Coated fabric during manufacturer. That's why the majority of tents and tarps which use this fabric have to be sealed after purchase. It is a fairly straight forward process if you read and follow the instructions. (I must do a video on it to help people like yourself who are new to it). This shelter can be hung from a tree, or erected using a linking section and walking poles, so there's no need to 'force' people to buy a pole. Something they may not need. You can indeed get cheaper tents from Ali-Express, but if you have an issue with it, you have no support or consumer rights as you do in the UK, therefore the old adage is true 'pay cheap - pay twice'
@jeffjohnstone4362
@jeffjohnstone4362 6 лет назад
Seam sealing these types of tents yourself is quite common. As for price, there is both cheaper and more expensive versions of anything and quality/warranty will vary accordingly as with any product.
@TheOutdoorsStation
@TheOutdoorsStation 5 лет назад
@kai kito Of course, I take it you would like those prices for each country they are sold in, the appropriate shipping charges and any customs charges? Plus of course estimates of how the prices may change with the dollar exchange rate and guess what price it might be one or two years later when you watch it. (Er like today!) That would make a really cool video I reckon don't you? Maybe it'll help your stress if I pass you a box of tissues :)
