Hi everyone! Quick correction: Shawl in a Ball by Lion Brand Yarns is an Acrylic/Cotton blend (not wool!). It really is magical, It felt so fine, I kept thinking it was a wool blend! It's so beautiful and I love it.
Jayda InStitches thanks for the correction! I checked the skeins in my stash and again at the craft store today and was bummed I couldn’t find the ones with wool! (Didn’t keep me from grabbing a couple more colors, though!)
Thank you for letting us know. Appreciate it. I love your show. I'm not good at reading crochet patterns. But you are a really good teacher and I have been able to learn a lot if patterns from you. Thank you!
Great instructions and demo. I had to tear it up few times but finally got the 81 then was a breeze and flowed easily. Is so elegant too. It is going to be given as a gift. Tyvm.
Jayda i had to stop the video after seeing the you model. At first i said NO that is not her. I expanded it. Oh my goodness! Usual your short hair and massive smile is such a different kind of beauty. But the solemn, intense quietness of how you were in the pictures. Your eyes took presidence! Truly captivating. I could go on. I think you are an undiscovered model. They are really missing out. We might be too. Anyway i feel i could go on but won't. Thank you. Wow.
Hi Jayda hope you and your family are doing good today and God bless you today and always. I really like the scarf.I will be making some of these .God bless you and have a blessed day.
Thank you for this tutorial but, more than that! Your teaching style and the reminder to slow down and enjoy the craft/beauty is something I was missing. Thank you so much!
'Working on my 2nd hooded scarf. The 1st was so fast, easy and pretty...why not another. Thank you for the tutorial. Very easy to follow and understand.
Hi Jayda, just finished this pattern in a beautiful mohair purply blue and pink colour and it looks gorgeous. I get stopped in the street about how lovely I look in it and its so warm. Thank you. Now I am making a red mohair one. 💖 Bella
Lion Brand had a great sale a couple of months ago so I bought 5 of these balls for $2 each. I just made your Luxe Hooded Scarf in a day! I love this pattern. It's so easy. I made one for a charity event. Now my daughter wants one and I want one! I'm glad I bought 5 balls.
Holy guacamole...your photos on the intro are so beautiful you could be confused as a paid super model! You should have one made into a canvas for your family photo wall.
hey! i'm usually too shy to leave any comments on videos or posts but this one really deserves it. i'm somehow an advanced beginner and your tutorials are sooo easy to follow and so clear! i'm halfway through mine and i'm really excited to finish it since it's a birthday gift for my boyfriend. he loves wizard-y vibes and i think he'll totally love this! thank you so much for sharing this pattern with such great explanations. i saw your cloak tutorial as well and i can't wait to make one for me and for my boyfriend for renaissance fairs!! have a lovely day jayda!
This has become one of my favorites and I have a lot of customers who love it and are ordering multiples of it. Thank you for this pattern and tutorial.
Over the last 3 days, I've watched about 20 videos for a hoodie scarf. I tried doing a sample of a few, and I wasn't happy with them. I really like this one because it's not too heavy AND the yarn is beautiful. I think this one will be a keeper.
Hi Jayda. Thank you for this lovely effective but easy pattern. I have just finished the first one and already have 4 requests for more. I used the colour Peaceful Earth and although earthy colours are not me at all it was a pleasure to use it. Definitely felt peaceful! The yarn is easy to use and, as you say, has a lovely feeling to it. The next 4 will be bright and sparkly. I enjoy your videos which brighten up the day for this on the elderly side person. 👍
I made mine out of some retired Lion Brand Suede in Purple. I made my base chain 307 st. I also made the head piece 2 extra v stitches so my neck would be cozy also. It’s about 9 ft long from end to end. I used 6.5 mm hook. I wanted this to be long enough to wrap around my neck twice and to keep warm in colder weather. It’s a cute patter! I will do again in a lighter yarn. Thanks for the great tutorial!
Hi Jayda I followed your instructions using Caron Simply Soft in bright red. I did add just a little more length to the scarf and two more rows to the hood. It turned out beautifully! I love your videos and especially your intros. Thanks for sharing your craft and talent.
Jayda i love this so much, just a quick question, my hood was a bit small, if I add a few rows of the centre price would that make the hood bigger. I wanna make these forever!!!
Made one in a pine green yarn that I bought from Portugal last year and I love it! Making another but this time in Lion Brand Shawl in a ball Lotus Blossom. 😊 might even make a third in a icy blue yarn.
Thank u..I wrote the instructions down..now to begin.. thank u so much usually I make it (pattern) up as I go..I'll probably add something to make it my own..😊
Wow! You really brought out Jayda Fierce for those intro pictures. Beautiful! And the hooded scarf is beautiful, too. I’ll have to add it to my ever-growing list. Thank you for your kind, patient and excellent tutorials. ❤️
I just made this beautiful piece from yarn that was gifted to me for Christmas and I can’t wait to go out and show it off. Thanks for sharing this lovely pattern.
This has to be the prettiest item I have seen made with LB Shawl in a Ball. Beautiful idea, beautiful pattern and beautiful model. Thank you for this design, I cant wait to start on it.
I made this scarf using some yarn I bought and didn’t have a plan for it’s use. The scarf is beautiful! Loving it! Will be making some for Christmas gifts. 🎁
I get cold in the head in winter. Our winters are nothing like Canada but even at 9-15C I need a hoodie/hat. So I decided to make one of these for myself. Used much denser yarn and stitching. I'll try it next time we leave the house but so far so good! It's not sparkly but it's variegated so it's pretty too. Thanks so much!
Was ready to order this yarn and in my stash I had a shawl in a cake same yarn have it in lotus blossom turning out gorgeous. Thanks for such a whimsical design. I absolutely love it. Jayde your such a good instructor.
Ohhhhhh Jayda, this is so beautiful! I am definitely making this for myself, and I have a couple of sisters that would love this as well! Thank you so much! 💖💖💖
Thank you so much for this absolutely beautiful scarf with the hood! It,s something I have been looking for. You make simple thing look so elegant because you are elegant yourself. Keep it up! You make many people happy, Jayda.
You do the best patterns. Was to understand and the close up video is the best. I’m a fairly experienced crocheter and some times the hardest part is seeing exactly where the stitches go. Thanks 🙏🏽 I have a couple of lovely color ways of this gorgeous yarn and I will be making this.
I have a few of these skeins but chickened out from using them because of the texture. Now I'm excited to use one to make this beautiful hooded scarf. Thank you, Jayda.
Made this today but with my own touches. Went with a “L” hook and used Lion Brand Scarfie (#5 weight 78% acrylic 22% wool) stranded with a 70% Mohair 30% acrylic #3 weight for a super warm version. My mother wears her hair perfectly done and will never wear hats even though she lives on a mountain with constant winter snow events and howling bitter winds.. This will allow her to not get hat hair but not have frozen ears. I tried it on in my 70 degree house and instantly began to get hot. Thanks for the pattern inspiration.
@@elainejan I used a mohair by Ice yarns..it was affordable and lots of yarn per skein. I actually ordered it on eBay but the cost was not any higher than direct from Ice Yarns. Have never ordered direct from them so I felt “safer” on eBay. I used a black mohair with the coffee black colored Scarfie and it was a nice neutral blend when worked together. Enjoy.
@@elainejan A Also...the mohair allowed me to loop #6 beads on it as I worked for a little glitz interspersed throughout for that extra touch my mother loved.
I had to look twice at the gorgeous model. You look beautiful like you came right out of the Lord of the Rings saga that the Middle Earth men were so in love with. The hooded scarf and you look magical!
We dont get the different typs of Yarn u showed.....we get Oswal Kashmilon Brand...yet i follow ur patterns with those....thank u for ur new year wishes
This worked up quickly, and it is very tempting to make them in all different colors! What a great way to add a hood to a sweater or jacket. Thank you for sharing this!
I just finished making this hooded scarf using the exact same yarn used by Jayda. LOVE IT!!! Can't decide whether to gift it or keep it. So beautiful! Thank you, Jayda!
Hi Chalice! It would make a beautiful gift for sure...having said that, I kept mine * giggle * Hey! We have to give ourselves a little something once in a while too ;)
I've had this yarn for quite awhile and had no idea what to make with it. Now, you have provided a beautiful pattern for me! Thanks so much! I love your enthusiasm and your easy-to-follow tutorials. Merry Christmas!
Jayda, you have outdone yourself on this beauty, can’t wait to finish my current project and get started on this. And a couple hints, for what they’re worth to my follow crocheters.. Shawl in a Cake/Ball is a favorite yarn of mine to use, but not all colors come with the metallic thread so if you order it online, look for the ones with the metallic threads. And I recently read that if you go up one or two hook sizes for your beginning chain, then go back to the hook size in the pattern, your beginning chain will be easier to work into and won’t be so wonky and tight, like mine usually are. With 200+ starting chains in this, I’ll give that a try. Again Jayda, stunning, as always. Thank you, you’re the best.
Jayda you look sooo Beautiful here.. but so sad.. maybe its the snow/weather? Anyway, i wish you the best. Thank you So Much for this beautiful pattern
Thank goodness for this video! I bought the pattern but I'm just not very experienced. This helped tremendously. Even though I know I made many mistakes, it still turned out great!
Jayda and Mr Institches, just wanted to let you know that I just finished my first one of these as a Christmas gift for my cousin. I did it in Lion Brand Shawl in a Ball on colorway Feng Shui Grey and it is gorgeous! With the yarn going from light grey to dark grey to black and back again, it looks very elegant and dressy. Thanks again for sharing this great tutorial and pattern!
Hi Jayda. I totally made this scarf for me and wow I love it and have had so many compliments on it. I made mine with Shawl in a Ball Feng Shui Grey and also have the one you used and I so am going to make that one as well. Thanks for this showing us all how to make this hooded scarf. This was so simple and easy to make going by your video. You make everything look so easy and able to make it. Thanks so so much.
Hi Jayda! It’s Mimi (used to be Mimi Loves Yarn). I’ve never used this yarn before, I wondered about it being soft! I’m so glad you mentioned this. Can’t wait to try this pattern. You look so glam and mysterious wearing it! Loved everything about this video. You’re awesome! ☘️😁💜
THANK YOU! I just finished my sister's Christmas gift and I know she will LOVE it. You made this video so easy to follow and I am beyond grateful. Peace, Love, and Smiles
Hi Jayda. Your instructions are so clear and easy to follow. Thank you. I just completed this and besides being quick and easy it is lovely. I just made another one with Lion Brand Ferris Wheel, 1 1/2 cakes and a K hook. Came out just as nice. thanks again.
