Hi Pauline, here in the "west" we don't use the ply weight system and from what I gather from other countries, our "size 4" weight category is closer to a "8 ply" weight category, but I'm sure there's a lot of room for variance there!

Will this cowl fit over your head, if not how many rows are needed to fit over the head?

Hi Monique, in order to wear this like a long tube/hood, you will have to add as many rows as you feel necessary for satisfactory depth and "puddling" around the base of the neck. This will vary on everyone, but you will definitely want at least 3 balls of this yarn or 3x the amount that I used in this tutorial just to be sure you have enough.

Jayda, this has become my favorite crochet cowl pattern. I have made 2 cowls now, and working on my 3rd one for a friend. What I enjoy most about it is that it is crocheted in the round. Hi! Try working on a flat surface OR, before you join, slowly run the chains through your thumb and forefinger making sure that the flat side of the chain is always facing up, then, join. It will slowly unravel any twists you might have. If you still can't get it to lay flat, don't fret! Just join, start the project and force the last stitch of row 1 to work. A tiny little twist in the foundation row will disappear 💗

Hi Barbie, if you're using yarn that's a little slippery, try and leave a longer tail, OR, if you can't avoid having a short tail, then weave it back and forth through only a few stitches (even 2 or 3). Don't pull too tightly 😊

Love pattern. Great job. Lion brand are so great for us all. My local Walmart stores don't always have them in stock.
