Those Lux turntables were so very beautiful. The PD300 was also a truly exceptional sounding model and could be made to sound better than many heavyweight high end decks with a little fiddling...and it had a cool vacuum platter. (I think it was the 300? memory..time..)

Cool! I just found one of these at e-waste in it's original box. Been trying to get myself a decent old school record player for a while now. Hopefully it works. Looked like the rest of the gear was there in their original boxes as well. But I just left them. I'll probably regret that lol. Thanks for the explanation in regards to the arm just lifting and not returning. I'll try to make a video of my find as well 🙂

I have a pd -284 removed the luxman arm and installed my spare SME 3009 SERIES 2 Non Detachable Tonearm with Shure M97 XE Cart. Looks and sounds great!

Hi Mike, thanks for your helpful video. I'm now clean up my PD264 and found if my tone arm lifter raised to fast (at the end of record). Could you please share how to adjust this tone arm lifter raise up more gently/slowly?

G'day Mike, I purchased one of these fine turntables today. Came with a Stanton 681EEE cartridge and shibata stylus. Sounds great. Right now the neighbours are enjoying "Crime of the Century"

Would this equivalent to Linn 12? How is the tone arm likes? I have pd 290 the arm is so light and plastic feel. Thanks

Hey Mike! I’ve been owning this gadget since a while, and I absolutely love it. My only concern is that with some pressings the arm lifts just too early. Is there a way to adjust the lifting point?

I inherited a whole line of Luxman PD 284 equipment from my husband. I want the turntable to work and it simply won't come on. I wish you were close to me!

Hi Liquid Audio, I have been loving my Luxman PD284 for a couple of years now. I have a Ortofon VMS20eMKii cartridge on there with an aftermarket stylus from Tonar, and so I have been looking for a more modern cartridge with an original matched stylus. Do you think that the Ortofon 2m Series (2m Blue for example) would fit the light weight tonearm of the Luxman PD284? Cheers from Amsterdam

i Mike, just a quick question. Any quick fix to solve my slight speed drift with my 284.I saw somewhere underneath there is a fine sped adjustment one can do? Its only slight .I know these decks were built before the advent of Quartz Lock ,however should the speed still be rock steady once adjusted?

I had Luxman PD-284 long long time ago. Lately, I tried to play it again and some how one channel is not working. After checking, the blue wire has no connection with the RCA output plug. Is it possible to rewire the tone arm wires?

i have one of these decks & have had for 20 yrs or so, recently when i lift the arm the deck & lights only come in intermittently if at all, any ideas, im in UK so coming to you isn’t posdible, thanks

At the end of the record it lifts the arm and stops the record spinning !! If it doesn't then probably you have set the switch that is located under the front side of the turntable to non stop position !!
