These are the locking hubs for Luxor wire wheels. Using these hubs and these knock offs you don’t have to worry about your wire wheels getting loose on you while driving.
New subscriber.. I dig the DYI approach. This design is atleast 20yrs old. As mentioned in the comments roadster/zenith came up with this. I had a set of 96 spokes locking adapter with rings on hubs back in 2001. A great design.
Roadster wire wheel design that adapter ring and spinner for Zenith wire wheel when they owned it, but all the screws were stainless security hex bolts. The bolts had a pin in the middle of the hex so you could only use the supplied allen key to get them off. I never used the lock on the adapter because it was just that much more trouble to get the wheel off if you had a flat on the side of the road but its still my favorite design..... great video
Installed mine, were as tight as we could get them, 100 miles later, loose, and some of the lock bolts were sheared. The bolts were also able to bottom out and would not be in the lock mechanism anymore, printing nylon bushings at the moment to keep bolt where it needs to be.
As someone who has these wheels, the screws they sent with it aren’t long enough to go through to the adapter and those bolts the center start to rust pretty quick, might wanna swap out for stainless steel or something
I went to budget bolt to get some stainless steel bolts. Why? These do spin out of place past the hub and sheered off. I ended up putting all 5 in instead of the three they send per wheel. Trust me and double check after installing and driving. Maybe some blue lock tight should be used so they don't spin out of place.
Hi just bought some trulock adapters for my car. First time using them. Just have a question the longer screw that goes to the adapter do you have to screw it until it gets tight or just screw it in until it gets flush with the top of the knockoff? Thanks.
I see when you screw the bolts in to the adapter it locks like it gets tight. I have a set and when I put the screw on it goes all the way through the knockoff. any suggestions??
Mine came with it. But they are shitty and rusted like the wheels did. Hit up Lowes and get some stainless ones or get a set and have them chrome plated.
