Need a little energy boost? Meet Chris and Bobby, a couple that loves to travel, share the joy, and recently developed a knack for building out vans! You can see the detailed carpentry work that Bobby brings to the table and the creative design that Chris leads with as they continue to produce tiny homes on wheels.
In their 2014 Mercedes Sprinter, you'll find a functional wet bath with a cassette toilet, a kitchen with a large sink, and a comfortable back area that converts into a king bed. There's an adorable hidden love seat that pulls out from the garage and secret drawers holding valuable items. The outstanding decor piece in this build is the guitar replica of Chris's son, who has passed mounted within one of the main walls. What a beautiful way to bring a strong memory on the road.

I too lost my son in 2005 while fighting in Iraq. There is a lot of remembrances throughout the house. Even decorated the Christmas tree this year with his 21 years of ornaments. Enjoy your trips. Stay safe.

I love the guitar! I lost my brother in 2019 and he played the guitar as well. I wear one on my necklace that has some of his ashes in it so he’s always with me. I’d love to have a van just like this. It has everything I want and need!

I love the name! We have the iPhone, iPad, and now the iVan! So clever. You are a very sweet couple, so nice to see your van and a slice of your lives. So very sorry to hear about your son. It must be so raw. You probably remember his scent too, as a mother. That guitar is a beautiful reminder. I feel your pain. I too, lost a daughter in Jan 2020 to cancer. She was only 37 and at the top of her career, found someone to marry, had so many plans. In 9 months she was on a morphine drip and passed away. Its funny how little things are such poignant reminders about your child. For me, it was the domestic side of her, the spices in her spice rack, a cutting board, some jars for juices, and her kitchen that really got to me. I saw she was eating the way I had taught her, and followed my cooking routines and tried to lead a healthy life, despite her travel for work and stress which eventually did her in. Lovely van! You have a very functional living space and such happy times ahead of you now. Its very sweet to see the closeness you both share. I feel warmed by it.

Also wanted to pass on a great vanlife tip. Use your throw pillows as clothing storage! Remove the pillow foam insert and replace with folded up clothes. Practical and decorative

So really I watched this to start with because in the thumbnail I saw the way he was looking at her and I was like, now that’s the way I’d want my SO to look at me and I thought it was just really nice. But now I love all the interesting stuff they did, the guitar wall, the mountains on the cabinets, etc. I love that. They’re just an adorable couple with an adorable van.

I have watched lots of vans but yours is the one I particularly adore. I had to rewind more than 5 times in some segments. The emotions, the details, the lightness, the heart and ultimately the love, you both have managed to encapsulate all these vibes in such a small space. This was absolutely beautiful! My son also plays the guitar and is very talented. He suffered some heart issues at age 32 and had to have a heart valve replacement. I have never been so broken in my life. He did survive… I am so sorry your son passed away. My heart aches for you…You two are an amazing couple… Thank you for sharing your story. Chris exudes beauty, positivity, warmth and humanity, and so much enthusiasm for her and Bobby's van life. Amazing van and absolutely the couple you want to be camped next to. I jointly owned a luxury caravan and toured all over Europe with it in 2016 but always thought a compact RV/sprinter camper was really the way forward. Towing a caravan over the Austrian/Italian Alps in a snow storm is challenging, to say the least and a sprinter van would have been the ideal partner for that entire adventure. I would love for you to build my van. I cannot climb up into any bed and so many builds require that. I need a comfortable place to relax other than the bed and one to eat. Most van folks are young and can crawl up to sleep, be uncomfortable, and do not care about luxury. We do not have to rough it. I would also keep a small home base, so I have decided to downsize into a smaller place, unload all of my accumulations, and become more serious as I have been looking at videos for 2 years. Happy travels to you both.
