After living at The Mix for a year we decided to make a brutally honest review about what it's like living there. There's so much hype about The Mix which is originally what sucked us into wanting to stay there...and from our experience, we 10 out of 10 WOULD NOT RECOMMEND. I'm really really late to this video, but everything that you guys mentioned in here are literally right. I'm going into my 2nd year at Georgia State Perimeter College and I wanted to come downtown for my nursing major and when I saw The Mix, I literally felt like I could be a perfect fit. Fast forward to December of last year. I asked my dad to come with me to tour the apartment and ngl I was so excited. The curly haired girl at the desk, her name is Shan and let me tell you, rude as tf, so when you mentioned a curly haired girl at the front desk, I got PTSD. She gave me and my dad the tour. The residents were lowkey rude to my dad. I had my mom on ft to show her everything and Shan looked pretty annoyed when I ft my mom. The hallways smelt like straight gas! Especially since my dad was with me, I felt so uncomfortable. The sky lounge almost sold me on it! I love the atmosphere of being in Atlanta anyway, so I felt like I was made to be there. We go back down to the lobby and I ask her about the rate.. the price literally killed the mood, on top of the parking pass. Honestly, I made the right choice staying home with my parents. I plan on living at home as long as I can with saving money, then I can eventually move out on my own. After watching this video, and listening to you guys mention more problems, I honestly probably would've hated to stay there. I'm sorry that this was so long, but as someone who was interested in The Mix, I whole heartedly agree with everything mentioned in this video.

Thank you girl, people been tellin me that 😂. And One12 is nice in regards to room size and the actual living space. However, the building itself is a crack house 😂🥴. Which seems to be the trend with student housing. The halls of One12 look ran down and the entire building smells like weed. Honestly it’s fine as long as you run to your room. Look into Westmar though because it’s cheaper than One12 and it’s closer to Clark but still off campus.

Going for Fall 2021. I thought the Mix was the perfect place to go. Then I saw the reviews and this video, but this video was more clear and detailed. Thank you for this video as I lost my hope for the Mix😂😭.

These prices are absolutely ridiculous for college students. Like I went to look but I’m like no. They expect our refunds to pay for it and parking I pay rent already and have a car note just too dang on much.

Thank you 😂, people have been telling me that. And are you talking dorm wise? If so, Commons is the only “apartment style” housing that GSU really has. They don’t typically left freshman stay there but it is possible and I have seen other freshman living there before. Other than the dorms you could look for other student living apartments.

I also had a horrible experience living at the mix. I relate to all of these problems you are talking about. I was lucky to sublease my room to get out of the mix.

So the pool is trash? How? And what floor were y’all on? How does the guest system work like for example if my clients need to come to me for their service and would they even have anywhere to park? Thanks in advance!

Hey! The pool is ALWAYS dirty! The water stays brown and the pool is a salt water pool so it’s not very sanitary. We personally stayed on the 8th floor so we were 2 floors directly over the pool. And at the time when we stayed there guests were checked in using an app that would allow them access through the building. You’d have to ask them about how they currently handle guests now though because I’ve heard a lot of rules have changed in regards to guests. And no your guests would have to pay for parking in nearby parking lots or street parking. Hope this helps!

I plan on coming to school in Georgia this upcoming spring and running across videos like this makes me so excited to get there. I only know about two people already there and they won't be doing school though. I pray i can find a decently priced student apartment & have a roommate relationship similar to you guys. Just curious, Did ya'll already know each other? Or did you just meet freshman year?

Hey girl! For safety reasons, we're not comfortable disclosing our exact apartment location. But we can tell you that there are really nice apartment places no further than 20 minutes away from campus. Before we decided on our current apartment, we toured a handful of really good options for off-campus. Which apartment you decide on getting really just depends on you, your price range, your preferred style of floor plan, and whether or not you'll be having a roommate or not. Do y’all recommend 200 Edgewood or Aspen Heights? I’m trying to find a place close to campus for next year.

Hey! Out of the two options we’d go with Aspen. Aspen is student living and it’s still really close to campus. The only downfall is that you might have to take blue route to get to campus if you don’t want to drive. While 200 Edgewood is nice. Edgewood (location wise) isn’t the nicest place to live, personally. However, both are pretty similar as far as rent. Just tour both of them and see what you prefer. Cause at the end of the day it really just depends on what location you like better.

What about the recording studio? That was one of the reasons I wanted to stay there smh. Cause normally studio time be like $80 a session too 😭

The recording studio use to be open when we lived there. You had to make a reservation and had a certain time frame. But from what we’ve read on the latest google reviews about The Mix, the recording studio is closed. Apparently someone broke a mic and it’s been shut down for a while now.

Hey, the Mix is furnished. If you watch towards the end of the video, you will see everything that comes in the apartment.

Hey girl! For freshman, we recommend staying in Piedmont Central. Both of us stayed there our freshman year of college and it's by far the nicest freshman dorm that GSU offers. Hope this helps!

Hey girl! We've seen your comment and have been contemplating how we were going to respond. And honestly, we don't really recommend freshmans to stay off-campus tbh. Campus living is really beneficial especially since it's your first year. It's a way to make friends and branch out. But we totally understand if you don't want to stay on campus, it's your decision. Where you choose to live also depends on how far away from campus your cool with going. I'd say look into Westmar though, its not that far from campus, and its also reasonably priced compared to someplace like The Mix.

Was your credit affected by breaking the lease?

No, our credit was never affected because we never broke our lease. We stayed at The Mix a full term. However, doing that year we renewed our lease for a new term which we ended up canceling 6 months before that new term even started. So we never actually broke a lease we just canceled the one for an upcoming year. The leasing manager ended up finding someone else to take the lease for that year.
