In this series, I wanted to show a real time appreciation for the Coal Drag Run on the Lyon Valley Northern. During Friday Night Group (FNG) operations this is only one of 5 trains that is running simultaneously in a two hour session.
In Part 2, the locomotves go to the Port Coal Mine and pull loads out put and empties in; also handling the idler cars. The interesting aspect of this operation is working the long srings of cars and sequencing them to open tracks to minimize moves..

That entire coal mine scene with from the bridge on is one of my favorite scenes.

One of mine as well. The bridge is a Walthers double track Warren Truss. I used drywall tape to create the see through roadbed for the trucks.

Part three is up. Operations are what makes this hobby an exciting three dimensional art form in motion. I like the thinking and planning involved.

Sounds great. Must be a Loksound ESU. Like the consistent Scale Speeds!

You have that right. You have to drive slow especially on a smaller layout

Can you imagine if you could put a small gopro on the front of a train to get a 1st person view of world?

David Weaver It would really be something. It is on my list of future acquisitions. Some folks are using I phones on modified gondolas and flats.

how long have you been working on model trains for? how long have u been working on this layout? there are many sections of your layout that i wish i could make mine look exactly like it... you have a really great eye for detail and i want to say i am definatly a fan of your layout and movies.. thanks for sharing and the information...

Brendan Berry I have been a model railroader for over 50 years. This last layout is 10 years old. Please use what ever you see. The trick is to take the advice of others. It is like going to school and you will do very well if you love the subject and spend some time on it regularly. Practice makes perfect. Do hands on stuff with others. Meet folks and ask them questions. Shows, conventions, clubs and organizations. Experiment. Some things may not work out but that is OK. Learn from other hobbies like fantasy battle figurines and military model and diorama building.. Glad you like the channel.

whats the idler cars for?
@CNLVN
@CNLVN 10 лет назад
daniel colussi The idler cars are used to reach into the industry. They are used in some cases because the rail is light or in others where locomotives do not fit or are to dangerous to operate.

CNLVN It aslo could have been city classics. I got it in a pile of plastic that needed to be built. Added the GE sign and rooft tank details.

Gasp! I read on that link that the LVN is going :( I read in the link that you were selling some thing and if I'm not to late was wondering, are you selling any buildings? Are you selling those BN locos on your youtube home page, and also what rolling stock is available? If you have photos, could you email me?
@CNLVN
@CNLVN 10 лет назад
RustEZZEProductions I have taken down the Lyon Valley Northern. I have been selling off everything and there is some stuff left. I have been selling locally here in Ottawa and did not want to get into the shipping and handling issues at this pont. Especially the structures. Send me your email and we can discuss.

whats is the HO code track?
@CNLVN
@CNLVN 10 лет назад
HO is 1/87 scale. Code refers to the size of the rail. For HO you can get code 100, 83, 75, 70 and 55. This allows you to have rail that fits prototypes for the area you are modelling. Hope this helps.
