I will immediately cancel the ride for the following: -My discovery after accepting that the pickup is in an impossible location and when I call before arrival, there is any resistance to walking to a better location. -Adding a stop or changing the destination before I arrive. -Calling or texting and saying "where you at?". -If I observe excess drunkenness before or after you get in. -Slamming my doors when you get in. -BO or the smell of any kind of smoke (grease/MJ or tobacco). -Waiting for 0:01 beyond the allocated wait time and I can't physically see you. I honestly have no patience for bad riders and IMO they can get into a pigeon car, not mine.
The thing I hate most when pas tells you to turn in the last minute and you're in middle lane , and stuck in traffic. They want you to turn like you're in a NASCAR. Why can't they say it ahead of time?? And if you missed that turn, ooops that's minus 1 star. Great short video!;)
Bad passengers put all negative on Driver..... Examples are "Rider put the wrong address", "GPS and APP not work properly: Pick up and Drop off location are wrong" 1~4stars!
I rated a customer with 1 Star and here is why. He gets in the car and says: “DON’T FOLLOW WHAT THE UBER GPS TELLS YOU” The entire ride he wanted me to go his way. Leaves his coffee cup in the cup holder with receipts to McDonald’s next to the cup. I enthusiastically gave him 1 Star for these reasons and I can instantly tell that just by him wanting me to ignore Uber’s gps and leaving garbage in my car that he wasn’t going to tip.
I had a pass urinate in my car. Terrible situation. It was a hospital p/u, the lady was very unwell mentally, smelled strongly of urine and when I tried rolling the window down she kept saying she was cold. Dropped her off, found out she peed in my car. It took me all day to get the urine smell, and the urine out of my car. Lyft only gave me $80 for the ordeal. Extremely frustrating! Then I had a pass I p/u at a hospital who I was polite to, drop her off at the destination and apparently she didn't know where she was (she gave the hospital a random address? Idk) so she calls me 20 minutes later, I don't pick up and she gives me a 1 star for what reason I don't even know.
Im an uber driver from montreal for a year now ... and the way I treat it is exactly what it is , a ride service . Ill pick you up , say "hi hows it going" thats it . Drop off and thats it . I dont tolerate anything , -No eating in my car -No talking on the phone loud and having the other person on speaker -if youre rude in any way I instantly pull over and tell you to get the fuck out of my car . Its a ride service guys you shouldnt try so hard , do your job and thats it . Never accept a trip that is further than 5 kilometres away , and always cancel if they take more than five minutes . Trust me .... they will learn from it and the next time they request an uber they will be waiting at the door at the tip of their toes
I sincerely hope you are still doing RU-vid. I can’t find content but thought you may have changed your channel name. I have yet to find a channel with someone who gives off such positive energy. Wherever you are, I truly hope you are doing well.
Don't talk to your passenger except with a hello good morning or where would you like me to drop you off? If the passenger wants to talk fine talk to them. What I saw that was annoying, the lyft ride was supposed to be one person picked up then when I arrived 4 people get in the car. At this point I wasn't going to kick out 2 kids and 2 moms out not fair but wrong number of passengers listed.
A lot of people enjoy being talked to and find it off-putting if you don't try to talk to them. It really is a gamble! Wrong number of passengers listed, if it was a line/pool I would definitely cancel it and tell them to order a new one.
I just do the "hello, how ya' doin'?" thing, confirm that everybody's set to go and off we go on our journey. After that it's up to them to chat me up. That said, my preference is that they don't talk to me or keep the conversation limited. My favorite ones are when the passengers talk among themselves, talk on the phone, etc.. Even the time I took a guy and his girlfriend on a 20- minute ride where his GF chewed him out the whole time for (I think, anyway) chatting up another woman was preferable to my having to carry a conversation. If I am going to talk I prefer to have out-of-town people, I can tell them what they want to know about the city, make recommendations, etc..
NO YOU IDIOT! You talk to them and listen to they're tone after a few questions or general conversation. Then you'll know whether to shut up or not. If you don't talk you look like a geek with no personality. Geeeezz!
munchkym hey I just saw you live streamed a few times. That’s awesome. Have you ever thought about doing your live streams on twitch? They h e a stream category called “Just Chatting”. Might be good for your brand to branch into a second platform? Im personally not a big fan of RU-vid’s live stream setup. Just a thought.
munchkym ya. There is a lot of people who do it from there phones actually. Works pretty good. Let me know if you need any help. Start by downloading Streamlabs. It’s a recommended third party streaming tool you can sync to your twitch account
Uber/Lyft riders are scum. I drove 10.8 miles to pick up an arrival at the airport because it is no longet worthwile for drivers to wait at the airport. At the end of ride, he pretended to give me a 5-star rating from his phone before getting out of the car. Next day my rating was still unchanged!
How the hell was Vomiting not #1!?!?? If a person is rude I'll give them a 2 or 3, but you vomit in my car that's an automatic 1. I've had 4 close calls out of 712 rides and don't wish that on any driver.
Well done....the backseat driving is a huge peeve of mine. Passengers dont know that their directions isn’t going to affect how much they are paying and it’s annoying as hell. Wait time, is obvious. That is simply classless and disrespectful. If you have the energy to make a request, you should have the energy to check the app.
Agrees with all of them. 10) I fine myself sometimes being flexible with this.. But yea I usually dont do it.. 9) Seriously do you not notice the phone on the dash telling me to turn at the same fuking street your telling me?? STFU and let me follow the gps unless there's construction or your telling me the gps always directs drivers to go the wrong way.. 8) Yea I usually take off a star or two for that 7) I dont want you puking in my car, and lyft is unapologetic when it comes to puking, any bit of mess in our car its $150 out of your pocket. So maybe dont take it personally like a moron when we dont pick you up after we've seen you. Were doing you and ourselves a favor. Saving your wallet and saving us from cleaning a mess... 6) Yea many drivers will get annoyed if you make them wait the entire 5 min on top of however many minutes they spent getting to you. I find myself more chill about it but it can easily get you a shit rating. 5) I'm a guy but I have had gay fares who do get touchy feely sometimes.. It ain't cool.. 4) Nuff said unless your driver is cool with you going there. I know in VA and DC they talk politics a lot more than in Cali. 3) Once in a while Ill pick up fares who smell like stale tortilla chips. But yea smelling terrible, idk if I'll give you a shit rating though, its something rare.. 2) See #7 1) If I get a whiff of rudeness I'm done with you.. Usually I find anyone with a 4.8 or lower rating are more prone to being rude so usually a driver will be skeptical of you before we even pick you up if your rating is below 4.9
This woman was so rude. It was rush hour so she was angry because of that. She wants me to drop her in a location different from what she asked for when she requested the trip in the Uber app. At the end of trip she told me that she doesn’t understand why I was an uber driver cause I was not a "good driver". Basically she wants me to drive faster that the speed limit and break some laws. I give her one star. And report her
Drivers - brush your teeth -keep your damn cars clean - don’t bring your weed with you to work and for damn sure don’t smoke it - one car air freshener not 3 plus -
Thanks for the upload! I wanna say that I don't mind talking a custom route based on what the passenger wants and I don't really understand why some drivers can't stand this. Here is the thing; if a passenger decides they want to _get us there quicker_ (than Waze, in my case) then one of two things will happen 1) The route isn't actually quicker which means more money goes to the driver for time/distance. Or 2) The route was indeed quicker so now the driver can get to their next ride/ping quicker. It's a win-win so what's the big deal? Plus if anything happens on the way (e.g., heavy traffic, road blocked, etc) then I can just point my little finger at the passenger and laugh inside. At the end of the ride, in my experience, the passenger is happy because we simply took Their Way™, even if it was a failure they're _still_ happy, meanwhile I'm like thanks for your money lol see ya later sucka 😇
I don't like it mostly because the passenger is usually wrong and tells me to go a way that makes no sense because they're drunk. I also don't like it because we usually are having a conversation and then they tell me too late so then I have to either ignore their request or possibly make an illegal or dangerous move. Really a no-win situation there.
Dear Munchkin, I love watching all of your videos. I am also driving in Idaho. I was wondering if you can tell us what kind of camera do you use to record your videos. Please also tell us what kind of camera do you use in your car for video and audio recording. Thank you.
munchkym so... I guess I’m just confused as to how smelling good or bad brings along that classification of a person. Unless you’re homeless, smelling clean has nothing to do with class. Soap is cheap. I’m not trying to nitpick but it’s just kind of random to put in an Uber video. If you can afford Uber you can afford soap. Anyways. Love the videos!
Drunk people use Uber so that they don’t drive drunk & end up killing someone in a car accident. I would much rather you be annoyed at some drunk passenger than that passenger trying to drive themself home. If you can’t handle drunk passengers than you should not be a rideshare driver.
Trip Duece I would much rather they have someone drive them, yes. But lots of people are rideshare drivers without driving the drunks, they just call it quits early.
The Home Plate Special I don’t ride enough to confirm (pretty sure your rating is only visible after 5 rides) but there are lots of articles online explaining how to find it! :)
Great video! I drive in NYC. In such an unprecedented time, new aspects are coming to influence rating riders. Obviously, if any rider does not wear the mask appropriately inside the vehicle, I give them 1 star and contact Uber Support to not match that rider in the future. Second, if riders eat or drink while inside the vehicle, it can cause a problem as well. Once they unmask themselves and make a conversation or have a phone call, it can be lead to a serious problem. Third, a rider who talks so much can also cause a problem even if he/she is wearing a mask. Mask does NOT provide 100% droplet-block. Moreover, in many cases, riders do not use a surgical mask like UN95 which is known to have 95% droplet-block. This leaves all ppl inside the vehicle exposed to the virus if the person who speaks has the virus. I love having conversation with the riders but nowadays, I do not say anything beyond necessary such as greeting, verifying the rider's name and address. Anyway, if you are still out on the field, hope you stay safe out there.
Passengers and Drivers will always have some not-so-good experiences in life but that does not require a rating system. The Uber/Lyft rating system is perhaps the most unnecessary and yet its judgmental undertone causes more Tit for Tat problems than it is worth. It only requires a simple feedback system that measures a car's cleanliness and the safety and security of both passenger and driver! A rating system is not appropriate for most of the problems you discussed because it's the "norm" in the taxi business. However, the borderline criminal behavior of abusing the driver (sexual harassment and berating) - they should be kicked out and reported.
I love it, it helps me stereotype fares before I pick them up, and its usually accurate.. Anyone below a 4.7 Nope your SOL. How dumb and how hard is it for you to not sit in someones car and just chill for 5-10 min or however long your ride is?? Even a 4.8 rating You can usually tell most of time how they got their rating even if its good. And some drivers didn't appreciate it..
Ugh..you and your absurd demands... Lol, I don't know about you, but I'm kind of ashamed that there is a portion of humanity that actually thinks this sort of thing is acceptable.
Yeah, I try not to be too critical if I think there's a chance they may be homeless, but I definitely would prefer they sit in the back if they've got any sort of odor.
Put a sign on your window that lists all the type of people and issues you don't want to deal with and see how much money you make. Are you interviewing passengers now?
I really dont have reason to rate riders bad only if they harm me, #1 I dont like. if you have a problem plz tell me. Everything else I dont care, I dont care if a guy Pat's me I'm kool with dat just NOT inappropriate. I don't care if a women touches me In anyway!
Gotta start downrating people for terrible backseat driving and asking intensely personal questions. If they touch me they get reported. No more of that b.s.
Hygiene??? If they could afford to keep themselves clean, they wouldn’t have to take Lyft but could take a real cab. LOL I’m sick of $3 minimum riders who stink up my car! Take your $3, buy some deodorant and take the bus
This is why I hate the whole idea of having to give a tip. It makes these situations more awkward. Luckily we don't have that culture over here (Netherlands).
And wassup with out of state folks driving in any city? I thought we were to stay in designated regions? Why dies Nashville keep getting folks from all over stealing our local revenue????
I got to 3.7 stars in my first 5 drives. I assume even 1 or 2 bad rating can effect it that way, since I only have 5 rides, but damn it is depressing... Is there a grace period with lyft for new drivers?
Great question, and yeah it is very discouraging. There is a grace period! Just work really hard to get more drives and try to tell passengers the importance of ratings. A lot of them have no idea how important they are so if you tell them you're new, it can help.
Now the second day, I am up to 4.5. Went to the Lyft hub, and they said don't worry, as long as I come in, and tell them why my ratings are low, and they know me I am fine. But they told me that I am doing great. Only 2 people rated me last time. One 5 star, and one 3... So YESSS. I actually enjoy driving with people. It is fun :)
Uber Medical Exam exclusive to Colorado? Who implemented this regulation and why doesn't media like Denver Post cover it (UP !) ? Colorado media doesn't find it's strange that School-bus drivers aren't required to have this certification. Gee, can't possibly imagine how feminist “journalism” could become irrelevant .
Eric H Not sure what “feminist journalism” has to do with this? But if you want to tell me more about the program, I’d love to hear and ‘report’ on it in a video!
I’d love to hear and have it reported on too. Apparently it's not something the mainstream media wants to report on. Maybe you'll have better luck finding a motive for such legislation.
Vaping doesn't involve the danger of second hand smoke because there's no smoke. There's nothing that proves any reason to not allow vaping. It doesn't matter what places don't allow it, but it doesn't mean they won't experience any legal trouble as a result. I personally wouldn't care if a rider vapes while in my vehicle. However, smoking cigarettes/cigars would not be permitted. (I'm not a driver, at least yet. I started watching your videos and decided if I ever want to become a driver (of both) then I'm using your referral code.)
Brian Joslyn The reasons for banning vaping aren’t because of secondhand smoke, it’s because the smell can linger and permeate materials and because the smells can bother people with allergies or sensitivity to scent. Restaraunts can legally ban vaping and some states have banned vaping in government buildings. Drivers can ban or not ban as they like, for sure! Thank you very much! Let me know if you need anything, feel free to email! :)
Ok... I'm simply sticking to what the law is, which was stated on the news. It was either around the time vaping products became available for purchase or when it was becoming more popular. Some do it to try to quit smoking and some do it because they don't want to smoke 'the real stuff.' There's really no scents that linger, cause damage to anything or cause allergies. There's also several brands now and they have their differences. There's at least one brand that isn't even really considered vaping that I've sampled. It has no flavor cartridge, no charging involved... it simply looks like a cigarette. No vape, no scent at all. If any of the scent claims, material damage and/or allergies were true then I wouldn't say I'd allow vaping as a rideshare driver.
Good video. I enjoy getting pplnhome safely. However, the drunken banter is too much sometimes. I hate to cancel but I will have no choice. And, the back seat drivers. Let me follow the GPS and concentrate on safety. NO, I don't know ever street. But, the traffic is what matters. I just think some riders are aggressive drivers by habit. They need to chill and relax.. SAFETY FIRST.
As an Uber driver ,I always rating those kind of the nice humble riders 5 stars if they are friendly and socialize with a sense of hummer by joking and having a small chatting with the riders trying not ignoring them if they want to talk which make me fill having good time doing my job keeping entertained getting treated as a spacial super star which make me so excited and also keeping our vehicle clean with no mess or damages or eating and drinking inside .However;I usually rating for those the riders with 2 or 3 stars maximum for being formal ,rude and jerks with arrogant behavior acting like they are bossy treating the drivers as a slave especially if they jumped to my car asking me to take them to their destination without saying "Hello" and also if they are not talkative being so quite during the trip entertaining themselves by texting or talking on the cell or people and also if they are talking among to each other ignoring me instead of chatting with me which is really awkward and super rude ,getting frustrating and makes me feel like a machine doing my job which not nice at all to be rude and disrespectful with no reason .Also the need to understand Uber is a community service not like a taxi cab service taking them from point A to B making a space between the riders and drivers. Also it's very annoying ,super awkward and very rude when they ask the driver turning on the radio very loud beside ignoring the drivers chatting among to each other so that they deserve 1 or two stars for misbehave with no respect for the friendly Uber drivers and their vehicle. Also those passengers should kick out of the Uber service if they tried forcing us by those jerks rude riders as a drivers to risk our self breaking the traffic law no matter what if you loaded more than the limit of the passenger inside our vehicle or asking us for parking on the illegal spot and they don't care if we got pulled by the police and getting a citation or our vehicle got towed for parking on illegal spot and those kind of sick passengers don't care if you lost your job .
I personally don't rate someone poorly for not tipping, but I have heard that other drivers do so in-app tippers could get lower. But in-app tippers rarely exist for Uber anyway.
The reason they don't use the app is actually because it's brand new and Uber used to not allow drivers to take tips. Lyft users almost always use the app.
driver should always ask the preferred route at the start of a trip, or ask if distance or time matters. you follow the gps and it takes the long way around the customer may not say anything during the ride but surely will afterwards---called the "ole cabby trick"
Passengers should just go with it, in my opinion. You wanna go specific ways, drive yourself. But I'll go different ways if they ask. I shouldn't have to ask them.
Thats nonesense to tell the passengers to just go with the GPS. I use ride-shares often and it sometimes has you go in a circle or the longest or most bizarre way possible. The passenger doesn't want to go in circles and if the passenger has a shorter easier way then the GPS why not take it and get the passenger to where they are going faster and get onto your next fare.
its RARE that my wife uses uber , I usually take her where ever (epilepsy cant drive) I always ask fo r a woman , and I always pay more because of I insist lol . just feels safer
Yeah, I understand! I do think it would be nice to be able to select women drivers if you have a preference, but I also feel that could potentially lead to predators selecting women in order to victimize them, so it's a mixed bag.
Spicy Creole Lady The style of video I make is better for fast talking so it’s just how I do it. RU-vid has a feature to slow down videos and I have accurate captions if that helps! :)
It's a pretty good thing there's a million other drivers out there than you, because I would give you a 1 star rating in a heart beat if I ever ran into you. Thing is though, none of what you said would give you reason for you to give me anything but a 5 star rating as a passenger AFAIK.
MY rating went down after coming back from Europe. ..I tHink I can safely say they don't like Asians or Asian Americans..this was 2019.Haha..And no I wasn't rude nor did I make any requests...I just got in the car ..Stfu and said thank you, bye when I got to the destination...It went from 4.85 to 4.42 .. I used uber a lot over in Europe....
I just got a notification about recent feedback from drivers and Lyft is threatening to deactivate my account permanently. Never in my five years have I received any type of notification like this. I am between cars right now, so sometimes, I do have multiple stops, but I keep it to one stop and for no longer than 5 minutes in and out. I am also a person of size and ask them to push the passenger seat up so I can have room for my legs, but that shouldn't be an issue. I do my best not to slam doors, I am polite, and am relatively quiet throughout the entirety of my trip, usually listening to music on my phone. I am contacting the company to see if they can share some of this feedback to me; at least I can know what the hell is going on. As far as personal hygiene, I've had some horribly cologned and stinky drivers, only one which I down-rated because it made me sick to my stomach, but I guess I should start doing that more often. And some of them try to talk me to death. A lot of the drivers also don't stop in front of my duplex or claim they can't find it, and I usually see them further down the street, so I have to walk to get to them. There's a lot of unbalanced shit going on here.
I feel so fucking bad. Holy fuck. I had no clue it was a thing to tip, otherwise I would have done so. I've already have had 4 rides and I didn't tip any of them. Jesus Christ. I feel so fucking bad, I should have done my research sooner. But my last driver was terrible, told me "if i was single, I'd date you" so fuck him but i feel so bad for everyone else and im SO embarrassed. 2 of them were 20 minute rides.
BTW, I liked all of my passengers, that is the weird thing. I said I am new too :( Oh well... Oh and I have a damn clean close to new BMW 335i, so it is not the car XD
I like driving for Uber but I’ve noticed that I’m slowly becoming snarkier and a bigger asshole as of late (still around the 4.85-4.9 range) 🤷🏾♂️ Does anyone think it’s petty to give poor ratings to passengers who make Uber requests for distances that are walkable? I factor in weather, bags, physical condition of course.
You can't always tell whether someone has a disability so I think that it's not okay. For example, I have a friend who has a disability that is completely not visible. She looks totally fine and can stand up and run around and appear to have no disability at all. But then she needs to sit for a long time. If she used up her "spoons" on something else (like grocery shopping), she can't then also walk home. You can never tell! I personally would never rate someone poorly for how short their ride is.
A driver gave me 1-star for making him wait 4 minutes, even tho I was outside the whole time, constantly scanning the street. He had been parked in a blind spot I just couldn't see. I'd even gone up & down the block to find him. He continued to chew me out when I got in. I politely explained why I hadn't seen him, then decided to drop it when he just kept ranting. I didn't score the ride with him even though I should have, but he f*cked up my perfect rider score.
#6... I've been off the road for about two weeks (car accidents) so I've become the passenger. I do not understand how passengers take the full 5 minutes. I get alerts every few minutes about the driver. People = Stunads
In San Francisco I had a tipsy passenger, Caucasian male saying “nigga” all up and down the ride, a 30 minute ride no less....describing a bad experience he had at a rec center we passed. Then halfway to the destination he began farting so bad he rolled the window down at least 4 times. I had to myself as well. I had another annoying passenger, this time a female and her daughter, who got on her phone, and she began talking to her friend about people she just met up with, and she was using every cuss word in the book to describe them. Those people suck and so do the ones who leave their empty soda/water bottles in my car.
I only do occasional Select rides (auditioning to see if it might be good for staying busy when I retire) so I avoid a lot of the nonsense. Yep, even Select rides provide a nice share of goofballs. The waiting is a huge one for me, I always cancel immediately when I can, grab the $7.50 and hit the road. A few months ago I did that, started driving away as the drunk dude saunters out of the bar and raises his hand as if to say "yo, here I am bro." Had a drunk guy telling me to "step on it!" when I'm already going 5-7 over. But the one that galled me the most is some little punk, pull into the apartment complex, can go left or right, I enter the code and the gates open I turn left, he says "no right I mean" but it's too late and as I approach the gate it's closing on me. The punk says "You'll have to get out and enter the code again." So I do, walk the 10-20 yards, enter the code, drop off the punk, one star and done. I won't take anyone less than a 4.7, rolled the dice and picked up a 4.5 on St. Patrick's Day, meet him at his house, waiting, waiting, waiting while he gets the group together. He sits in the front and starts yelling out the window at some other people in another car that were meeting us at the bar. If a douche like that can cobble together a 4.5 he might as well be a 1.5.
Eating in my car and spilling food is the worst for me, and then not telling me or not attempting to clean it up! And of course vomiting. Too many passengers, open alcohol containers, or no car seat I will cancel the ride and drive away.
Yeah, absolutely! I don't mind if people eat, but if they leave behind any trash or crumbs, I'm not happy! And I would never take a child without a car seat.
by far i really love your channel..you have great energy and alot of information. im not letting the person in my car if they appear excessively drunk. yes dont skip the deodorant!!
Thank you so much! And, yeah, if someone is excessively drunk, they should really wait a bit before calling a ride, for everyone's safety and the sake of our cars.
Thank you for mentioning the that list despite some people's lack of common sense. I use Uber (passenger) and my rating i receive is a 5.00* Another thing i want to point out is that It would be nice if the Uber app gave Uber passengers the feature/option to add their favorite Uber drivers that they trust on their custom favorite drivers list so they can choose any of their favorite Uber drivers for future pickups which would highly increase the safety of the passagers instead of taking Uber rides from random Uber drivers. Also it would be nice if the app had a panic button so a passenger can immediately alert the authorities to track down the vehicle if a passenger is in danger and can't escape the locked vehicle.
That would be SO great, but I think Uber/Lyft are concerned that if passengers and drivers get to know each other too well, they'll ditch the app entirely.
Crazy night last night.. Worked from 830pm to 3am and made $145!! So $23.30 per hour... Not bad I think.. Gave my first 1 star this morning! All Uber riders out there you need to shower! Just sayin..... Also last night I had 2 people that were saying how awesome my service was. Took some water and gum and said they would tip on the app, then nothing! WTF!!! You get that too???
That's a really good night, great work! And, yeah, cleanliness is a real issue. I don't rate lower on it if I think the person might be homeless, but really strong odor are definitely up there. And with Uber, especially, this always happens. People lie and say they'll tip but they forget and also Uber makes it pretty hard to find.
I've been driving for a year and a half. Passengers say they will tip you on the app, then don't, just so you'll give them a better rating. I remember those passengers and if I pick them up again I will give them a bad rating.
