Im only 16 and my right breast area not only breast but above it the chest muscle and shoulder area is tenser and bigger than my left one. My left shoulder chest area is completely slim and flat unlike the right one. I just needed this
I just want to thank you so much for this fantastic video, Kelly. I have been using these techniques every day in concert with your great exercise video and it has made a really noticeable difference, reducing discoloration and swelling and also increasing my range of movement. Since PT here is closed cause of covid, this has been a real lifesaver. These videos are a real service and I am so grateful to you for doing such a clear, helpful presentation.
I am so glad to have found you Kelly. Athough my swelling is not too pronounced, the pain has been close to unbearable at times. Your massage is really helping. What a lovely lady you are to have made these videos to help so many people. Please accept a warm virtual hug xx
Wow I have cyst in my breast not due to any surgery just hormones and wow 😯 this really worked thank you I only had this type of pain during breastfeeding and now it’s back like really I’m over it but I guess my body is not sooo thank you fir this massage it works great 👍🏾
I am 2 months out from double mastectomy and reconstructive surgery and the tightness is almost unbearable, I am following your videos and doing them faithfully every day!! Thank you!!
You are a life saver. The pain has been mild, but present enough that sleeping has been challenging. My doc said that she thought that I was experiencing chest wall lymphedema and asked if I wanted a referral to physical therapy. I watched this video instead. It looks visibly less swollen after this exercise, and my pain level has dropped from a 3 to a 1. I will sleep like a baby tonight!
I can't thank you enough for this video. I finished radiation about 3 weeks ago and have had a huge almost baseball sized hard lump on the side of my chest. So uncomfortable!!!!!! I did this video yesterday and today along with several radiation/mastectomy stretching videos you've done. In just two days it's about half the size it was and feels so much better. THANK YOU.
I want to add my gratitude to what others have said. Thank you!! I had seen references to lymphatic drainage techniques, but you are the first person that I came across to actually SHOW how it's done. And I SO grateful that you specialize in oncology patients. I'm about 8-weeks out from lumpectomy and SLND. I'd had some 'heaviness' in my upper arm and the side of my breast near my surgery site. This has really helped! So should I expect this symptom as a forever side-effect of cancer treatment or will my body eventually create new channels to drain lymph? Are there things I might do to encourage better healing? I'm a very healthy weight, very active (roller blade, walk, lift weights, yoga, etc.)
i recently had top surgery and am using this to help with swelling. i'm not sure if i should make any modifications since i didn't have any lymph nodes removed, but i'm using my intuition and taking it easy anywhere that is sore or sensitive. thank you for sharing!
Wow I'm sitting here at home 2 days after finishing RT. Nearest qualified MT trained in lymphatic massage and cancer etc is an hour away. Can't really do that run every day. But I'm feeling like I needed to jump on this swelling (not in the arm, that was discussed during oncology visit, breast swelling wasn't really talked about), so I'm thinkin ok anything can be found on RU-vid, this is going to be a DIY thing. Thank you for this. I am a life long believer in alternative therapies and holistic therapies such as massage etc. Didn't think though that after one session of these procedures you just demonstrated that I'd feel a difference. I mean it's going to take some time, but things already feel lighter. So thank you for this. Now if you have a miracle massage for the unbelievable fatigue, I'll be perfect lol
I really want to thank you so much for the work that you do. I refer my clients to your when speaking about lymphatic massages in all cases. You are so educated and help in so many different ways as well as calming to listen to. I appreciate your service! Danyell W., Ketogenic Living Certified Coach, IHP
I do MLD ,I have a client/patient who has had nodes removed, I figured moving the fluid down towards the groin area is the best reroute way. Would you agree? Most of my clients had no nodes removed, this one has had 5 removed LSide, 1 on right . Also recommended her to walk in a pool for lymph draining. TIA!
God bless you for uploading this video! Yesterday I could not lift up my left arm because of my swollen armpit, and now I can move it again. Thank you very much!
I really like this. I saw a gadget advertised that was suppose to promote drainage and I thought I need to see if something is on RU-vid and I like this better. I think the touching of yourself can also be a practice of self love. Truly loving yourself while doing it too. Especially if you had any abuse - this can be so healing and help you have healthier self love for yourself all while doing something that is soo good for your body and your circulation. Its a WIN WIN WIN all the way around. Thanks for doing this video. Sharing!!!
Tq Kelly. Your vid really helps. My breast was swollen for the past 2 days. Get immediate result once I tried my self with my daughter’s help for the back. ❤️❤️❤️
Thanks a lot Kelly for this video. My Mom underwent a lumpectomy surgery and had her lymph nodes removed as well. PT Exercises given to her are slightly different though.
I’m only two weeks out from my partial mastectomy and I have a big lump under my armpit and still quite a bit of pain because of my fibrocystic breast tissue. I finally got into a lymphedema PT. It was not easy Scripps was a whole month out. This was frustrating so I’m so thankful I found your channel.
Hello Kelly. Thank you very much for this great informational and tutorial video! As a lymphedema PT myself, I refer my patients to your site regularly for video references and will continue to do so in the future. I find them all very helpful! The only constructive recommendation I have for this video in particular is regarding the hand strokes. You stress in the beginning of the video that a skin stretching technique should be preferably on direct skin (which I completely agree with). However, you visually demonstrate a sliding technique throughout the rest of the video. That is quite confusing, especially to patients who have limited understanding of the strokes. I understand the need to keep it simple and short. May I suggest just reiterating the comment throughout your video(s) (in the future) to make it clear vs revising them with clear stretching techniques? Just a thought. None-the-less, I think you are an excellent PT and lymphedema therapist and will continue to follow you! Thank you for all you have done!!
Very helpfull videos Kelly. thank you ! just a small advice: can you please move your hair back so we can see your colarbones and how far you reach when massaging... cheers
Thank you so much this was immediate relief from a large painful cyst. Seems to be a particular bra that sets it off. This routine helped straight away! You're a star ☺
Thank you so much for this excellent video. I was in such pain and discomfort post op and this has shown me how to clear the fluid that was causing it. I use an anti-inflammatory gel first as it’s all so sensitive still.
My right breast and underarm are very swollen after a complete reverse shoulder replacement. I am only six weeks out from surgery and the swelling is causing quite a bit of pain. I have found very little help with this so thank you for your video. I would welcome any advice you can offer.
Thank You!!! I was told that I have lymphedema yesterday and unfortunately I can’t get into physical therapy until the middle of January. I was depressed until I saw your video...Thank You!!! Question: is there a time limit per session?
Thank you for the video - recently I have developed extra lymphedema of my right arm - maybe due to ‘closet’ cleaning and I can’t reduce it - I am a dermatologist- please also recommend a compression bra - never used it in last four years after surgery - my sister is travelling home 2nd week of December- if you respond soonest she can bring it for me - thanks again
thank you very much for this video. just a short question: when is the best time to do this massage (part of the day etc) and how offten? once a day, once a week, twice a day? i have early lymphedema - redness and minor swelling of the bottom part of the breast (away from where the turor was - Invasive Lobular Cancer - taken out by Lumpectomy) ... thank you
Thank you! Extremely helpful. I don't wear bras with underwire but the swimming suit I rarely wear has them. I was in a whole lot of pain on my left side breast following a day at the lake! This removed the swelling and brought the pain down from a 10 to a 4 in one session.
I am also very appreciative of you putting this video here and feel improvement from just following your video one time. I'm wondering if doing this with coconut oil might help make it easier as, living in a warm climate, I'm doing this with no shirt on and after a short time I start to feel like I'm causing too much friction on my skin. I don't think I'm just applying too much pressure but if it's not detrimental in some way I'd like to use some organic oil to help. I don't expect you to answer this. I will research it. Thank you again, you are wonderful for sharing this!
Can we prrevent lymphoedema with this exercise? I am day 4 post right mastectomy and axyllary clearance. How soon I can start this exercise post surgery if it can prevent lymphedema?
Hi Kelly, I thank you for this video. I wanted to know if these techniques can apply to "Seroma" as well? My mom has seroma on her breast after her mastectomy. Thanks.
Thank you so much! I was trying to read some instructions on how to do this and it was confusing and no where near as thorough as your video. Thank you.
This is a great video, however, I had a double mastectomy, and remained flat. I did not have lymph nodes removed. My swelling is surrounding the incision, and on my side and back at the end of the incision. My surgery was just one week ago. I would like help reducing the swelling in these areas. What would you suggest?
Very useful, and thank you. My cancer surgery was 4 months ago, with reconstruction 3 months later, and I wish I'd found your videos sooner! A question, though -- I had a bilateral mastectomy, so would not be needing to move fluid from one breast over to the other. So my instinct says to massage both sides toward the side - is this correct?
Hi, please can you advise on whether to move fluid across the chest to the other side if sentinel lymph nodes have been removed from both sides? I followed the dry brushing video earlier, and noted that going across to the other side is to be avoided and instead go down the side of the body towards the groin. Is this the case for massage as well? and, if so, how to move the fluid from upper part of breast? Thank you
So I have stg3 melanoma in my left armpit/lymph nodes area. The tumor is 9 by 7 inches in my armpit. I know my nodes are clogged as well. Just found your videos today, gives me hope. Dx 9/19. I won't have surgery chemo or radiation. I've been doing a flaxseed & castor oil pack on sight for a week. I'm having frequent bathroom visits like it's cleansing & moving. So I have a smaller Pac for my armpit & a larger one for the abdomen region. Any further suggestions? Thank you, Western Medicine has been unhelpful. Your amazing. Sincerely, Kat C.
Thank you so much! I have so much drainage in my left breast. I had a B mastectomy and my left side just won’t kick in. I had the drain in 5 weeks and down to 15ml but it keeps swelling. It’s even leaking out of a little hole in my incision. Really frustrating. I will do you techniques and pray it helps.
Since I had a double mastectomy and slight swelling in both armpits and around the horizontal incisions should I just massage each side towards the groin area?
Thnk u for your guidance. I have granuloma mastitis in right breast. I am little confused when cominf towards the toeso and tummy drainage. I need to deaw everything down, but tummy needs to go up. How to proceed on this? Thnk u
Might you already have done (because I could have missed it) or will you be doing an update to this with the new ALERT study info in mind? Or would that not change this one much? I did notice an updated one for arms and legs, but this breast/chest one is equally relevant to me (and it's linked now to the new dry brush routine video.) Thank you for all you do!
I would like to see arm restriction exercises and exercises to help my pain in my shoulder. It is hard to use my arm and when I move my arm it feels like it’s ripping the muscle. When I had my partial mastectomy they took muscle and lymph nodes and I am pretty much useless and using this right arm now. Fearing frozen shoulder. 😔
Hi Kelly, I have 2 cancer patients in my family and your videos & printable guides have helped me provide relief to them. 🙏 In case of a lumpectomy (both underarm glands removed) & masectomy - should the direction of drainage move downwards towards the middle of the chest to the belly button? Would help to hear from u on this! Thanks.
Dear Kelly, thank you very much for your channel! I'm from Serbia ( south east Europe - western Balkan). Here we have a good surgeons and oncologysts, but for these problems I think there Is no specialists. One again THANK YOU❤. Excuse my English😊
How get rid of fibrocystic breast painful very frustrating almost 4 year now feeling like crazy why doctor not have any treatment if celebrity people have pcos or a fibrocystic they get treatment why not we 😭😭😭😭😭😭
My mom deals with this and her doctor told her to stop all caffeine for a week or 2 until they went down. She said it worked. He told her any time they come back to do the same thing.
I have this on my whole left body side. From neck to ankle...It started in my groin, last year it started to affect my arms and this year i have chest pain, like heart attack ish. Anyway, since i cant pull them down or up, i just pull them to the right side right? I don't have a diagnosis yet but this really help. Thank you for this video.
Thank you I just found these because my physical therapist office can't get me in until August 31 for an evaluation, then therapy beginning in September. My next surgery is scheduled for Oct. I want to try to reverse the onset of Lymphedema in my arm and chest areas. I ordered the compression bra and pads that you recommended in another video. It might be in my head but I started yesterday and the pain has lessened. I appreciate you putting this information out here.
Thanks for your awesome videos! I’ve had my first mammogram , they found a few issues and had it repeated as well as an ultrasounds. Results showed I need to go back in 5 months. I’d like to do lymphatic to get things flowing as I was told in the past my lymphatic system is not moving properly. Would this be good to do nightly just to make sure everything is flowing and draining okay or would you have another suggestion? Dry brushing better? Thanks for this information.
