I love how he plays the notes..Its like he's saying, "Im gonna serve this note with some fine cheese, and this next one, yes how about some rich chocolate, and ooh this one some wine"...Fine playing Mr Harrell...
I have always been amazed at how effortless his mastery appears, and how he has fun with the love of music. What an unpretentious master! RIP. You will be remembered with awe and reverence!
Amazing musicians, and one of the strange pieces in a "happy" mood that Chopin wrote when still a young and healthy man. The absolute poet of piano, superb. Thank you for sharing!
At first hearing I thought his cello sounded different. Spectacular but I can’t put the way it sounds into words. I soon realized it isn’t the cello, it’s the way he plays that makes my heart race. What an amazing performance of this piece. If Chopin was a cellist this is how I’d imagine him playing. What a great duo!
What a awesome performance! Bravissimo Lynn! Your Chopin is like if You were born in Poland at Chopin's times, lol! I enjoyed it soooo much...many thanks for this dream of performance!
Haha, this is great! Also, this is not Chopin's Polonaise Brillante as such, much rather a hyper-virtuoso version of it. Still, it fits the style amazingly well, and I'm astounded at the level of peace Mr. Harrell maintains through this ordeal. This also made me giggle every minute, just the charm he has while playing, a wonderful example to follow for me as a cellist!
One of my teachers wouldn't let me learn the original version so I never learned it at all. When I told her all the virtuoso nonsense didn't fit the piece she did admit that the triplet descending passages did sound a bit like a horse whinnying.
No twosome does this as well as Emanuel Feuermann and Franz Rupp did in a recording now about 80 years old. But the Lynn Harrell job is quite admirable.
he is being very liberal with the arrangement particularly in the first movement, but he does his added flourishes well and it adds to the feel. i love it. what a wonderful performance all round!
As spirited as could be! And the high spirits are supported by exceptional technical capabilities on the part of both performers. "Brilliante" indeed. Bravissimi! I do, however, have one caveat: the piano tends to drown out the cello.
DROPPIN BOMBS DAM is Mr. Harrell not reading music? i wanna be that kinda old if he isn't reading and playing from memory. to have music like this written within the fabric of your being. actually it looks like he is reading - either way, greatness, n he could've probably played something like this from heart. I DONT EVEN KNOW my mind is racing now
