***** 2 lead plus a rhythm guitarist and I was only referring to the lead line. Also I'm pretty sure that they only had that set up when they went on tour and just recorded the studio version with 2 lead guitars and added everything else to the track later (along with several other alterations such as recording the slide guitar part over itself to give it a much thicker, smoother sound)
Reminds back in the day 2006 live in the Camp Lejeune North Carolina listen to this song many times. Very southern over there hitting the bars sometimes heading up to tarheels. good times North Carolina is my second home and I miss it over there I love Lynyrd Skynyrd and I would love being back there
This is one of the songs I grew up listening to, driving around the backroads with friends, smoking so much pot, we felt like we were kings of the world.
+Joe Camel this was my life , Lanark Skinner was my breath, my blood , my food , my water, my friend , my father , my mother, my brother , my sister , they were my everything !! Those my friends were the days !!
+paddie3535 Knowing that pothead trash like you listen to this song has brought it right down in my estimation. Don't think I'll be listening to it again.
+Randy Richardson does it really matter if pot smokers listen to this song? perhaps pull your head out of your ass and quit judging people. based on your jaded perception you will be surprised to see how many people really smoke pot once it is made legal. and you will see how many more will smoke it now that it is legal. Judging a song based off of the type of people that listen to it ... you sir have just made my list for the biggest idiots on the internet.
I used to go to the local eyeball's in the Early 80's and this was always on the play list one girl was always on my radar and to watch her dance to this was mind blowing it's now 2015 and we're still so in love and happily married oh what memories!!!!! Ohhhh Freeeeeebirrrrdddd
I respect your opinion but in my world this solo doesn't even get close to Derek Truck's solo on Cocaine (Eric Clapton live in San Diego). In my humble opinion, on of the best solos I ever heard.
still one of the best songs of all times. doesn't matter if i listen to it a thousand times, every time i love it! there will never be another band like them!
I'm so glad that Kingsman: The Secret Service really kind of brought this song back to the public consciousness. One of the best guitar solos in history coupled with one of the best action scenes I've seen in years.
This was my dead husbands favorite song I know he's in Heaven riding his Golden and Diamond incrusted Harley Davidson and leading the pack of Angles that he hangs with and they are blasting this song Hes Riding High Like A FREEBIRD RIP Tom Wison I will love you always
I am listening to this thinking of my friend who was shot killed. We played this at his funeral. We love you C.S. YOUR FOREVER IN OUR HEARTS!!!!!!!!!!!
Your husband must have been a great man. I pray for him but I am sure he doesn't need prayers to be free like a bird now. May you reunite with him the day we are judged.
listening to things like that always reminds me that i was born about 30 years late :< i mean yeah, we still can enjoy the gems left by our elders but i would give about 1 leg, my left hand and my grandma to see lynyrd, tull, zeppelin, hendrix and floyd live in their prime.
After 04:40 i always think of a Bar fight with Bikers smashing their bottles on one anothers head, chairs flying, people getting thrown around, fists flying, glass shattering and the Bartender taking cover when some dumbass lands on the counter.
This song was my girlfriends farthers most favourite song, sadly he passed away 2 weeks ago due to melanoma skin cancer, this song was played at his funeral 2 days ago, rock on gray, you will greatly missed :'(
One of The Best Guitar Solos EVER! ACDC Comes in a 2nd followed by Slash a close third and I know the Guitar solo by heart from listening to this song over and over in my CD Player as a kid!
One of the greatest songs ever. Have listened to every type of music, was there in NY when punk came on the scene and loved it. But this is one of the greatest. Love this version.

I always hear this song on GTA SA on K-DST It's one of the best songs on it. It reminds me of going in a Hydra or Hunter and flying around slowly around the desert past the the restricted area.
This song kicks ass whether you're driving a '79 Ford Fairmont or an '82 LTD. They were one of the greatest southern rock bands along with Molly Hatchet and The Marshall Tucker Band.
Thank you military men and women and the people in uniform for your hard work and dedication to risking your life's so that we may live in peace I salute you
How imaginative is today's music, may I ask? Where's that creativity? There's none of that, sadly. Wish people would still say "FREE BIRD!" when an artist asks what to play next.
flying a plane in the dusty deserts of bone county while listening to this song while midst the orange sunset over the large rocks of the canyon, man gta sa really captured a beautiful moment.
