Welcome to JustTenMoreMinutes aka JTMM aka The Freakin 10! I wasn't expecing this to be that old when I picked it but as you have mentioned they have been together awhile. This song was so simplistic in the lyrics yet so freaking awesome. That voice......that tone!

This is the very first song PotF made and it's the theme song of the video game Max Payne 2 made by Remedy Entertainment. PotF have made many songs for Remedy's games because Marko Saaresto is a childhood friend of Sam Lake the creative director of Remedy Entertainment. While the album the song is on was released in 2005 the song was made in 2003 when the game released. Can't wait to see more of your dive to PotF!!!

You hear the song in a number of places in Max Payne 2, but hearing the full thing in the credits was a mind blower. POTF hooked me then and there.

They are also The Last Gods Of Asgard, From probably, Remedys best level in Control. The Ashtray Maze

I specifically recommend listening to the studio versions and their "Alexander theater" sessions.

The big draw for me also was Marko's voice. He is simply one of the most striking and emotive rock singers of my lifetime. His falsetto is pure, believable, sustainable; I can listen to him singing all day long. Their latest album "Ghostlight," their very best, in my opinion, showcases Marko's falsetto more than any other album. I also love Olli's guitar solos always, which are prominent on "Ghostlight." In addition to several songs on Ghostlight, the chorus to "Daze" (from the album Jealous Gods) is entirely falsetto.

The ultimate falsetto song has to be "Cradled in Love" the song is like 90% falsetto and the last 10% is also very high vocals just below Marko's falsetto
@TimTheTuner
@TimTheTuner Год назад
@@Sparkle648 You're right about that. But for some reason, I don't think of Cradled in Love very much when I think of favorites. No special reason. I like the song. I don't know...

@@TimTheTuner I share that sentiment. It's a good song but not among the best they have in my opinion. But purely as a show of Marko's perfect control of his falsetto it is unmatched.

@@Sparkle648 With all the falsetto on Ghostlight, it's almost as if I hadn't really heard that before. But if I go back and listen, he's done it a lot over the years. For some reason, Ghostlight seems to explode with Marko's falsetto in a way that I hadn't heard before. I mean, really, we get it solid in the chorus to Daze. I can't explain it.

My son introduced me to POTF with the studio versions of "Lift," "War," and "Late Goodbye." But "Carnival of Rust" hooked me permanently.

Fun fact: it wasn't written by POTF, it was a poem by Sam Lake (creative director at Remedy), it was converted into a song for the game Max Payne 2 hy POTF. The lead singer, Marco is Sam's friend.

Great reaction! Love POTF!! I admit I don't often listen to lyrics...mostly because of the sound mixing or my own hearing I can't make out the lyrics. Sort of like hearing the voice as another "sound instrument" w/o hearing the words and message. BUT, with these guys, Marko's vocal are so clear and he does enunciate so well that I can hear, listen, and appreciate their lyrics. That's one of the things I love most about this band! So glad you've fallen down this rabbit hole! Can't wait for the next one!

Once Upon A Playground Rainy, one of my favourite, i just love the lyrics and the whole vibe, feels just like summer in Finland, chill air but with sun light... but it didn't get a music video😂

Just in case you havent seen it, here's a link to a live performance if this song at the Genelec Artist Room. Not sure if the Genelec would block this for a reactor, but for us just to watch seems to be fine. 😊 ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-mddu6FMBSIo.html

First time I heard this song was during end credits of Max Payne 2. Video game. It followed a particularly sad and tragic ending.

@@JTMMTV War is one of the songs that I would highly recommend listening both the music video version and the acoustic version from the alexander theatre session. While the acoustic version is very beautiful most of the song's bombastic nature is lost in it which is why I would recommend listening to both versions.

If you want to react a lyric of them try Listening 'Maybe Tomorrow is a Better Day'. Marko the singer wrote the lyrics when he was only 20yo.
