at our medical school granting the D.O. degree, we learn a lot of embryology. It's thoroughly incorporated into our anatomy didactics as most other schools. I can assure you in the year 2012 or whenever this video was finished it is a standard course in medical education without gaps across M.D. or D.O. granting institutions, otherwise this was very informative, thank you!

Dr Mason How so?

lordmasterization 300k in debt plus horrible residency match rate. Not worth it. At all.
@vanhoot2234
@vanhoot2234 8 лет назад
+Dr Mason This is incorrect. It is any where from 25-68k per year. So it doesn't need to be 300k of debt. Additionally, it depends on how well you do on your exams. If you go there thinking its an easy way to become a doctor and you slack off yeah you will not match. If you go there and bust your but you will match. Simple as that. It is harder to match but it isn't a waste of time. For some people its the option they have.

You are only looking at tuition and not cost of attendance (COA). Most of the top caribbean schools are more expensive such as SGU with its tuition around $250k for four years. You can definitely hit $300k when you factor in cost of living, traveling for rotations, and traveling for interviews. It doesn't mean all schools are like this, but the best ones are usually around that expensive. Yes, the best ones match better also. If you are taking out federal loans, that interest compounds and you could be looking at $500k if not paid fast enough (if looking at federal loans for SGU as an example). You can definitely be paying $300k when factoring in compounding interest for most medical school even in the US.

Can I be an oncologist if I go to D.O. School?
@mirandaanderson746
@mirandaanderson746 8 лет назад
absolutely !!! D.Os can be any type of doctor a M.D can be
@jimbrown3253
@jimbrown3253 8 лет назад
very unlikely. With the ACGME/AOA merger, most onco residents will be MDs. Something to think about before deciding on DO before reapplying MD.
@jimbrown3253
@jimbrown3253 8 лет назад
These fields were filled with 90%+ MD grads this last match (aka, very unlikely to match as a DO). Derm-100%, Interventional Radiology-100%, Radiation Oncology-93%, Neurosurgery-93%, Orthopedics-90%. That isn't to say it is impossible to match Rad Onc as a DO, but it is extremely unlikely. It is hard enough to match as an MD.
