In this third and final part I look at what is left of the old M&GNJ railway line from Fakenham to Melton Constable plus a little bit of history.

A really enjoyable series of videos. Thanks for your effort 👍Heart breaking that the M&GN lines closed down.

Thank you for your comments, much appreciated. I agree about the closure, but unfortunately some places were already served by the GER, and some stations were not very close to the villages that they served, it was the old story, use it or lose it.

Great video. I’ve driven past Langor Bridge Signal Box many times without understanding the course of the railway.

Thank you so much for making your videos, i really do enjoy watching them. Having visited Pensthorpe nature reserve today, i just need to let you know that the section of line you filmed there was the GER Dereham to Wells line. The M&GN line ran slightly to the North in the reserve, and has been largely wiped off the map. The only surviving M&GN feature i could find was culvert 92, which is close to the cafe and shop. I had to use google maps to keep track of where the M&GN line ran.

Thanks for your comments and information. I must admit I was slightly confused when I got there plus I was still getting over paying the entrance fee.

Ha yes i had to pay £14.95 to get in. Lovely place, but not cheap. The M&GN line in the middle of the reserve is now ponds, re-landscaped paths and rampant vegetation. Looking at the maps, only the Western and Eastern edges of the line in the reserve are still in place, but these sections are off limits. The GER line has a protection order on it, so maybe one day it will be used again.
